This lovely, detached cottage offers guests a fantastic base in which to explore this lovely part of the County, the property is set close to the historic town of Ironbridge which is a World Heritage Site.
The towns of Shrewsbury, Bridgnorth and Much Wenlock are all close by and all offer plenty for guests to see and do including many independent shops and restaurants, along with access to the beautiful Shropshire Hills and many more National Trust and English Heritage sites. Telford town centre is just a short drive away and is home to family attractions including Telford Town Park and the children’s playground Wonderland, as well as restaurants and the town centre. For those looking for a day out shopping, Shrewsbury town is half an hour away.
Shropshire has an array of outdoor activities on offer including kayaking, canoeing, cycling, walking, gliding, golf, fishing and horse racing. The area is never short of places to visit with a plethora of castles, abbeys, farms, museums, discovery centres, gardens, parks and historic houses.

Tucked away in the beautiful village of Pontesford, Elsie’s Cottage is a great holiday home for those hoping to explore the Shropshire Hills. It is perfectly suited to one or two couples, or a family of up to five. Pontesford is located on the A488 outside the large village of Pontesbury, south west of Shrewsbury. Being within the Shropshire hills you will be well placed to enjoy long walks or cycle rides in the beautiful and ever-changing countryside. The ground floor comprises a cosy living room with brick chimney breast and original features. The kitchen is well equipped with all modern appliances for your stay. There is a ground floor double bedroom with adjoining family bathroom. Upstairs is a sitting room with double sofa bed and second bedroom with double bed. two adjoining bedrooms, offering flexible sleeping options. A double bedroom, and a snug with sofa bed for an extra guest. There is ample parking for two cars, complimented by a large garden which is a great place to let your dog run free whilst you enjoy the stunning views.

From Elsie’s Cottage is the Earl’s and Pontesford Hill. Very popular with walkers throughout the year. Footpaths lead around the hill, through grazing pasture, or head up through the woodlands. Two routes are waymarked around the hill; the green signs for the easier route and the purple for the more demanding route that leads to the summit. Just down the road is the larger village of Pontesbury, where you will find a supermarket, chemist, Post Office, butchers and plenty of smaller interesting shops, plus three good pubs to enjoy a meal out one evening. Alternatively spend the day in the bustling and historical town of Shrewsbury, birthplace of Charles Darwin. Famed for its intriguing ‘Shuts and Passages’ and overlooked by Shrewsbury Castle, home to the Shropshire Regimental Museum, the town nestles in the crook of the River Severn. The Quarry parkland follows the length of the river and features ‘The Dingle’; an outstanding formal garden and water feature with lots of seating for relaxing and taking in the view. With museums, the Theatre Severn and numerous independent shops and places to eat, the town has plenty to offer all ages. Within a short distance you can also find the towns of Much Wenlock and Ludlow and various sites of historic interest. A beautiful rural location, perfect for an all-year round break at Elsie’s Cottage.

This spacious cottage is set on a working farm adjacent to the owner’s own home in Banks Head. It is surrounded by countryside, with the local market town of Bishop’s Castle just two miles away, and is a perfect base from which to explore the surrounding Shropshire Hills, Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The cottage is surprisingly spacious throughout and benefits from gorgeous gardens and views. The entrance hallway is welcoming and full of charm, with plenty of space to be able to kick off those boots after a day out in the hills!
There is an open plan living room/kitchen space with comfortable seating, a TV, a round dining table and a modern, fully-equipped fitted kitchen. Just off this room is a separate utility room with a door out to the small patio area overlooking the gardens. Upstairs are two bedrooms and a bathroom. The master bedroom has a super kingsize bed, a dressing table and wardrobe. The other bedroom is a family room with a double and single bed. Both rooms are decorated in farmhouse style, with original feature fireplaces and garden views to wake up to.
With plenty of countryside to explore and places to visit, this cottage is the perfect base for your Shropshire stay. Find outdoor activities, enjoy walking, cycling the country parks, or spend a day at a local market town. For a day out, perhaps plan your trip around one of the many festivals celebrated every year in nearby towns, or indulge in the history – castles, country houses, museums, galleries and gardens.

Bridge Cottage is a charming and traditional holiday home. Ideally set up for your family holiday, the accommodation boasts three bedrooms on the first floor – the master bedroom has an en-suite shower room, the second bedroom has twin beds and the third bedroom is a single, there is also a bathroom on the first floor. Wake up relaxed, as all bedrooms enjoy views over the tranquil garden. The ground floor of Bridge Cottage feels bright and spacious.
Entering through the porch to the hallway, there’s plenty of room to kick off your shoes, from here leads to the rest of the property which offers a dining room, living room, ground floor toilet and utility room. The large living room boasts comfortable sofas, plus an electric wood burner for a little ambience on those cooler evenings. At the other end of the cottage, the well-equipped farmhouse-style kitchen is accessed via the dining room. Outside, there’s a beautiful garden to enjoy. With a patio area and lovely lawn, this garden ticks all the boxes. You’ll find shade under trees, sun on the lawn and if you explore the bottom of the garden, you’ll even find the stream running under the cottage’s namesake!
Wyson is a pretty hamlet in Herefordshire, just 10 minutes from Ludlow. The county is a quintessential English and is surrounded by countryside, with its rolling hills, heritage, and hearty local ciders!
