This stunning 18th-century, semi-detached house has been lovingly converted into a self-catering holiday cottage which sleeps up to twelve people between six bedrooms. Vyrnwy Bank is the perfect destination for larger groups of friends or family looking to take in the dramatic beauty and historic charm in this part of Powys, Wales. In total there are six bedrooms spread across the two floors, some with en-suite facilities and some sharing bathrooms. Vyrnwy Bank is well-furnished throughout to provide ample accommodation. The house has so much to offer and boasts some traditional features such as exposed beams and a wonderful fireplace including a wood burning stove.
The village centre of Llanymynech is a short walk away and offers a couple of local shops, pubs and the market town of Oswestry is just a short drive away where there are a variety of shops and restaurants to try. Being so close to the Llanymynech Rocks Nature Reserve and some five miles to the Berwyn Mountain Range, there is an abundance of scenic walks and cycle trails to explore. Vyrnwy Bank is set on the Powys/Shropshire border and is a brilliant base for discovering this beautiful area. Perfectly situated for National Trust and English Heritage properties, World Heritage sites, as well as a wealth of designated footpaths and bridleways. Arscott is a small hamlet in Shropshire. It is near to Plealey, Shorthill and Annscroft and within the civil parish of Pontesbury. Down the road is a 18 hole golf course, there are walking trails galore. Lyth Hill is a 14 mile circular route, that runs directly through Arscott and is a delight for all walking enthusiasts.

The cottage benefits from an equipped kitchen, so that meals can be easily enjoyed during your stay. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, one with a king size bed and TV and the other with a double bed and TV, both bedrooms feature character beams of the barn and have plenty of storage space along with stunning views. The wet room offers a walk-in shower and toilet. Plus, there is a reading area to enjoy some quiet time on the landing. There are two patio areas to indulge in either a morning cup of coffee or a meal alfresco style.
With easy access to the delights of Shropshire, as well as being a short drive away from Shrewsbury, there is so much to do in the local area. Outside of the farm, the local Village of Pontesbury just a couple of miles away is full of lovely amenities, including a butcher, greengrocer, and a café. While those looking to experience the picturesque surrounding areas can get exploring with just a short drive. This delightful dog friendly barn conversion is set within easy reach of the beautiful historic town of Shrewsbury with its fascinating architecture including 600 listed buildings, castle, museums, many independent shops as well as your high street essentials, the famous Arts Trail throughout July and August is just one of its many festivals and it has a wealth of traditional inns and restaurants.
Easily accessible is popular Church Stretton, on the edge of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which is fabulous walking country with many famous hills such as the Long Mynd with the beautiful Carding Mill Valley, the Wrekin and the Lawley.
Shropshire’s finest and most attractive town Ludlow is within easy reach, framed by the gentle Clee Hills, with its impressive castle, magnificent church, half-timbered buildings, Georgian red-brick houses and different markets five days a week such as general, farmers, craft, or antique.
Bridgnorth has what is reputed to be the steepest cliff railway in Britain and superb cliff-top walks overlooking the River Severn below. From here, during summer, the Severn Valley Railway’s steam train chugs the scenic 16-mile route to Kidderminster. Attingham Park (National Trust), Benthall Hall (National Trust), Ironbridge Gorge and the old market town of Much Wenlock, with its medieval priory, are all within easy driving distance. Set next to the owner’s own property, The Roost is set in a peaceful and quiet part of the Shropshire countryside.

Near to the famous foodie market town or Ludlow and walking distance to a lovely local bar/bistro, Apple Tree Lodge is set on the grounds of a 2,000-acre estate where guests are welcome to walk and take in the stunning Shropshire countryside.
The lodge itself is a converted, small L-shape property all set on one level. An open plan layout with a kitchen with all the mod cons, a large dining area big enough for six and a light spacious lounge with a wood burner, excellent too cosy up next to after your long county walks or the colder nights.
There are also two good sized bedrooms and a shared bathroom. To the right of the property you will find a small secure paddock with picnic benches where you can sit and have a morning coffee reading the paper and planning your day.
The lodge also has a hard tennis court so don’t forget your racket!

This holiday cottage, newly converted in 2019, is situated just outside of the village of Baschurch which is set near to Shrewsbury and Ellesmere. Baschurch offers pubs, takeaways, churches, a large convenience store and cash point. The local bus, which operates between Shrewsbury and Ellesmere, collects and drops off on Springfield Barns main drive allowing guests to leave the car behind.
Shropshire is a gem of a county with so much to explore within easy reach. The north of the county offers the meres, mosses and canals along with the county town of Shrewsbury. Whereas the south of the county offers the stunning Shropshire Hills and food renowned market town of Ludlow. The county is home to Ironbridge World Heritage Site and Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal World Heritage Site and nine National Trust sites including Attingham Park.
Shrewsbury is the birthplace of Charles Darwin and is a wonder of medieval black and white buildings. The town offers fantastic dining, individual shops, craft markets, museums, art galleries and the stunning Dingle within the Quarry Park.
The barn is set within the boundary of the owner’s grounds and it neighbours The Parlour (ref UK10958) on one side. There is private parking for two cars within the main parking area and the property is accessed from the main drive.
You step through the front door into a very modern, bright, airy open plan conversion with vaulted ceilings and beautifully restored original exposed beams. Firstly, into the fully fitted and equipped kitchen area with breakfast bar, oven, microwave, fridge and ample storage space. Then into the living area with dining table for two people and the peaceful living area with a 32” Freeview TV and sofa. To the rear of the living area is the sleeping area with a kingsize bed and an en-suite shower room. It is surprisingly spacious for a sleeps two conversion.

This pretty, detached stone cottage sits in an Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty only 5 miles from the foot of the Long Mynd on the Shropshire border, close to the Welsh Marches. The Onny Trail is on the doorstep leading to walks on Wart Hill, Hopesay Hill on the Shropshire Way, and the Jack Mytton Way which goes up over the long Mynd. It has an enviable position close to the road networks, yet has fields and woodland to the rear. The field across the road belongs to the owners and has the River Onny running along the bottom where you can relax and try your hand at some wild fishing. The cottage has its own private patio area with sole use of a six-seater hot tub.
Shropshire is a great area to visit with plenty of activities and places to visit within a short distance. Some of the attractions include Acton Scott Working Farm, Secret Hills Discovery Centre, Stokesay Castle, and the vibrant market town of Ludlow with its castle, racecourse, weekly markets, and numerous food fairs held throughout the year. The Glider Centre on the Long Mynd and Carding Mill Valley (National Trust) is a must for adrenaline lovers. The beautiful market town of Ludlow, well known for its food festival and Historic Shrewsbury is set on the banks of the River Severn and offers a great selection of shops, bars, and restaurants. While in nearby Condover there is an activity centre where family activities include low ropes, high ropes, kayaking, and laser tag. The Edge Adventure Activity Centre at Much Wenlock offers quad bike trekking, clay shooting, mountain boarding, and much more.
For a more relaxed approach to your holiday there are some lovely towns and areas to visit such as Bridgnorth with the Severn Valley Railway, inland funicular railway, and the historic Ironbridge gorge and museums. From the property within an hour’s drive, there are Powys Castle, Berrington Hall, and Attingham Park all National Trust properties and just a little further you will find Chirk Castle, Erddig, and Croft Castle. The Ironbridge Gorge Museum and the hills of the Long Mynd and Wenlock Edge are about 10 miles away, whilst there are many interesting walks from the door as well as numerous picturesque villages waiting to be explored. Friary Cottage is a Grade II Listed, detached and renovated town cottage. Well-positioned and beautifully presented with some antique furniture, it boasts original, quirky features and is only a 5-minute walk from the centre of the town and a 3-minute walk from Ludlow’s train station. A cosy wood burner and gas fired Aga are amongst the treasures of the house. From the sun room/conservatory there is a new garden room to enjoy. Guests can also enjoy a private enclosed rear garden, a separate, small walled courtyard, and it is located on one of the most prominent streets of this charming medieval town. Ludlow is overshadowed by its own majestic castle, as it was once, like York, a seat of Government in Tudor and Stuart England. Now hosting the famous food festivals and events throughout the year, there is always a lively atmosphere here. It has a reputation for fine foods, award-winning restaurants, speciality and antique shops and even a racecourse. An excellent base to explore the unrivalled countryside for picnicking and walking or nearby towns such as Bridgnorth and Bewdley (Severn Valley Railway), Ironbridge, Much Wenlock, Church Stretton, Tenbury Wells and Leominster. The cathedral city of Hereford with its chained library and Mappa Mundi are all within a short drive, as are historic houses such as Witley Court, Berrington Hall, Croft Castle, Stokesay Castle and Powis Castle on the Welsh borders. Acton Scott, an historic working farm and the Secret Hills Discovery Centre are all just a few of the nearby attractions, so you will never be short of something to see. Applewood is located within easy driving distance of the town of Much Wenlock, a popular tourist destination offering a selection of independent shops and attractions. Iron Bridge, home to the world’s first iron bridge, is just 7 miles away. The property is also set just 10 miles from Telford and Shrewsbury town centre which gives access to many bars, restaurants and shops, along with tourist attractions such as the historic sites of Longnor Hall and Shrewsbury Abbey. A grand old country house, still a family home – Buntingsdale Hall, an 18th Century masterpiece, stands in its own grounds overlooking the River Tern not far from the pretty county town of Market Drayton.
Approached down a mile long private drive, the principal apartment of the Victorian wing is yours. Following sensitive modernisation the apartment has all the comfort one expects but the grand bedrooms and drawing room with 18 ft. high ceilings retain all their Victorian splendour.
Think huge; supper in an enormous eat-in family kitchen, cocktail hour in the elegant living room. Relax on the big sofas, mix cocktails from the 1950s bar cart in front of the fire; maybe find out who killed Miss Scarlet from the board games trunk, while the little ones build wooden trains from the kids’ trunk - they’ll be too busy to look at their phones! After supper, the party continues down in the former servant’s hall, now a games room, with a full size snooker table, roulette wheel, darts, table tennis and roaring fire.

Outside there’s a private secluded courtyard with a BBQ and a big table for all, and walks directly from the door. Do bring Fido; you can all walk a couple of miles across the fields to the pub in Market Drayton which has hearty food all day, brews its own beer, loves dogs and kids, with big tables and fires.
Within the estate is a private lake -carry one of our kayaks down with your picnic and barbecue gear and enjoy the stars. One of the most unspoilt parts of the UK for stargazing. Around you are all kinds of wildlife rarely glimpsed, birds of prey, kingfishers, badgers and wild fishing. Old fashioned fun: children can make camps and swing on trees, paddle. There’s a boat or they can borrow a bike and ride down the private drive to swim in the local millpond. There’s a fire pit with straw bales for a warm fire in the evening.
