Relive one of the most famous days in history, and join the 1066 walk from the doorstep. Take a trip on the Kent and East Sussex Steam Railway from Tenterden, also known as ’The Jewel of the Weald’, through the Rother Levels to Bodiam, one of the most evocative moated castles (National Trust), built in 1385. Discover the one time coastal smuggling town of Hastings and medieval Cinque Port town of Rye with its cobbled streets. Picturesque sand dunes and interesting wildlife can be explored at Camber.     Bright and welcoming, this dog friendly property has an open plan living space with a large fireplace complete with wood burner and deep sofas. The kitchen and dining area provides all the mod cons to enable the chef in the group to cook delicious home-made fayre throughout the holiday. The central staircase is flooded with natural light from the overhead Velux window and leads to the first floor, where you will find two well-appointed, cosy bedrooms. Both rooms are lovingly furnished with vaulted ceilings. The cottage is tastefully decorated throughout and oozes traditional Yorkshire charm and character. Outside, the small courtyard has seating and enjoys the sun for the majority of the day. It also boasts a private hot tub, the perfect place to relax and enjoy your favorite holiday tipple. As a working stud farm, the owners offer the opportunity to look around and see some of their world class stallions, mares and foals (this can be arranged on arrival). For those with their own horses, stabling is available so your four legged friend can also enjoy a holiday (charges and additional T&Cs apply).
    Fraisthorpe Beach is perfect for dog walking and horse riding and is popular with locals for exercising horses all year round. The village of Brandesburton is home to a couple of pubs offering traditional ales and bar meals, alongside a number of shops and restaurants. A short drive brings you to the pretty Wolds town of Beverley offering a host of independent shops, cafés and restaurants. A day at Beverley Races or a round of golf at one of the many local golf courses are sure to keep everyone entertained. The seaside town of Hornsea is on the doorstep and with pony rides, ice-cream and fish and chips is a lovely unspoilt family destination. There is so much to do and see in the surrounding area including the RSPB reserve at Bempton Cliffs and the Nature Reserve at Sprun Point. Beach 6 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 3 miles.

    Pop into the little village community shop for a cuppa and put your feet up for 5 minutes; this community-run shop has been running for twenty-plus years, by volunteers who will welcome you with open arms. The village pub is at the end of the road serving pizza and a pint for £10! Enjoy a long walk from the house to the famous Woolpack pub, a great friendly place serving food and drinks. This pub was recently discovered by Giles Coren as the pub with the most beautiful view, this is poet Laurie Lee’s favourite and most frequented pub and is still home to his walking stick. Another thing to note is the famous Saturday farmers market which is bursting with many delights, including Stroud Smokery and the delicious Pippins doughnuts (you’ll definitely get six!) or try a delicious falafel wrap from Funky Falafel.
    It’s a stroll downhill to get there or there are regular buses from the end of the road. Location is everything! So, if you’re looking to explore, there is so much to do, Cheltenham for shops, restaurants and of course the races. Gloucester Cathedral for Harry Potter fans, Cirencester, Tetbury (full of antique shops), Slimbridge Wildfowl and Wetlands Centre and Westonbirt Arboretum are all great places for the family, whilst Bristol is just 30 minutes down the road. Close by is Hardwick Hall, built in the 1590s by ’Bess of Hardwick’, the second most powerful woman in England after Queen Elizabeth I. The Hall, and even its original tapestries and textiles, have survived unaltered for four centuries, and it is now open to the public by the National Trust. Near the estate’s original water mill, still in operation and open to visitors, is the Hardwick Inn, also built in the 16th century, probably by the masons who built the hall.
    A little further away are the delights of the Peak District, including Chatsworth House, a 30-minute drive, and the town of Matlock is just a 15-minute drive, with the amazing Heights of Abraham at nearby Matlock Bath, as well as some stunning countryside. For a nostalgic journey back in time through the Derbyshire countryside take a trip on one of Peak Rails steam engines, or visit Cromford Canal and take a trip into the past on an historic narrow boat. The towns of Chesterfield and Derby are just a 20-minute drive away, and nearby Nottinghamshire is also just 20-minutes away, here you can visit Nottingham’s castle or Sherwood Forest to go on a Robin Hood hunt! Close by is Teversal, a small village in Nottinghamshire which is surrounded by the Teversal Trail Visitors Centre, offering great access to the Teversal and Pleasley Trails network, perfect for enjoying a variety of walks and cycle routes. Visit the famous Crooked Spire in Chesterfield, Gulliver’s Kingdom in Matlock or for thrill seekers, Alton Towers theme park.
