Owl Cottage is a delightful retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life with its location in the centre of one of the most picturesque villages in Sussex and surrounded by the South Downs National Park. The cottage is all one level and the entrance is easily accessed by a sloping pathway.

On entering the cottage through the porch you arrive into the beautifully decorated living area with a pitched ceiling giving it a light and spacious feel. With a comfortable settee and armchairs surrounding the wood burner there is a warm and welcoming feel immediately. The kitchen fitted with modern amenities including a useful washing machine with drying facility, great for those muddy days on the Downs and French doors open to the garden with table and chairs to enjoy in the summer months. The spacious bedroom has ample wardrobe space and a kingsize bed. A shower room completes the picture.

The garden area to the front of Owl Cottage has a lovely bench and a sweet garden pond which the local birdlife love. Within minutes of Owl Cottage you will find a bustling tea room local shop and a choice of three local hostelries within short walking distance.

Amberley is at the foot of the South Downs and is noted for its many thatched cottages. It is a village that has managed to retain its character and appeal over the centuries and it will delight all visitors. The River Arun with its tidal plain cuts through the South Downs at Amberley. The South Downs Way crosses the river beside the village where a walk either east or west will soon present you with stunning Downland views and total seclusion. The tidal river plain north of the village forms the Amberley Wildbrooks, a Site of Special Scientific Interest known for its wildfowl and maintained by Sussex Wildlife Trust. The RSPB reserve at Pulborough Brooks neighbours Amberley and is a wetland haven for bird life and an overwintering ground for many migrant species. It has many opportunities for studying the wild life from several strategically located hides.

Only a mile away is the Amberley Working Museum which was used as a set location for the James Bond Film ’A View to a Kill’. It is a 36-acre open air museum set into a chalk quarry and is dedicated to the industrial heritage of South East England. There are many themed events throughout the year so it is worth taking a look to see what’s on. Two miles to the east, Parham House and Gardens is an imposing Elizabethan house facing the Downs. The rooms are graced with fresh flowers cut daily from the four acre walled garden. The main rooms are the Great Hall, Great Chamber and the Long Gallery which at the top of the house does leave a tremendous visual impression. Five miles downstream from Amberley, south of the Downs, you come to Arundel, a historic market town dominated by the symbolic castle and the rising spire of the cathedral. If you fancy making your visit a little different why not catch the train one stop down the line and come back on the river. The town offers a plethora of craft and antique shops as well as restaurants and tea rooms. A trip to Arundel would never be complete without visiting the castle. The seat of the Dukes of Norfolk and set in 40 acres of sweeping grounds and gardens Arundel Castle has been seasonally open to visitors for nearly 200 years. It is one of the great treasure houses of England and to climb the 131 steps to the Keep to take in the views is worth the effort.

Built on the owner’s land, this unique, cosy and compact property is ideal for couples or a one-person getaway. Dolphin has been cleverly crafted using a boating theme, and is only 40 yards from the beach, with private path access. The dog-friendly pebble and sand beach, protected by rock islands, is great for crabbing, fishing, bathing or potholing, and it is perfectly located for walking to nearby Bognor Regis. Middleton-on-Sea has pubs, local shops, takeaways and restaurants within easy walking distance, and Littlehampton or Bognor has further eateries, as well as small beachside cinemas, within a 5-minute drive. There is plenty to do in the area, with Arundel close by, famous for its castle, lanes with artefacts, books and antique shops, plus Wildfowl and Wetlands Wildlife Centre, Pulborough Brooks RSPB and popular beaches at The Witterings, Worthing and Bognor. Also the easy driving distance to Chichester with its cathedral, festival theatre, leisure facilities and Goodwood or Fontwell Races, or Midhurst with Cowdray Polo and shops. There are many scenic walks including in the South Downs National Park. Also within easy driving distance (or train ride) is the cosmopolitan city of Brighton to the east, and Portsmouth to the west, which has the Spinnaker Tower, ferry trips to the Isle of Wight and designer retail shopping. National Trust homes and gardens, such as Goodwood House, Parham Park, Royal Pavilion, Petworth House, Stanstead Park and East Dean can all be easily reached. Converted from former farm buildings, these four holiday properties (two of which have been adapted for the disabled with shower chairs available), are in the Southdowns National Park. Properties 17320 and 17321 command fine views over the surrounding countryside. 17320 also has a worktop which has been lowered for wheelchair access to the sink in the kitchen. Situated in the grounds of the family farm (non-working), they are only 100 yards from the village of Compton with village shop and tea room with free wi-fi access. Enjoy peaceful walks along a bridle path leading to the South Downs Way, 2 miles designated as a National Park. The historic cathedral town of Chichester lies 10 miles away, with its cobbled streets adorned with tea rooms and restaurants, and the ornate cathedral. Scenic boat tours can be taken around the harbour. Goodwood and Fontwell races or polo at Cowdray are all within a short drive. Portsmouth, with shopping and leisure facilities, within easy reach. Located roughly 5 miles north of Worthing and set within the green and pleasant hills of the South Downs National Park, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, “Manor Cottage” lies in the quaint west Sussex village of Findon.
The village has a popular range of shops, public houses and restaurants to visit and is also convenient for easy access to endless walking and riding via footpaths, bridlepaths and the South Downs Way. Findon is by-passed by the A24 and provides good access to London. You can spot the horses in action on the gallops. Walk part of the 100-mile South Downs Way with historic woodlands where you can smell the intoxicating scent of the bluebells in the spring. Look out for barn owls, kestrels, roe deer and red kites, and you may even be lucky enough to see hares boxing. Outdoor pursuits of paragliding, hang gliding, golf, zorbing, mountain boarding and water sports are all available nearby.
The coastal town of Worthing, where you can stroll along the promenade on the award-winning art deco pier, is 5 miles away. Other places to visit include RSPB Pulborough Brooks nature reserve, 8 miles, Parham House and Gardens, 7 miles, and Arundel with its historic castle, 10 miles. A little further afield is Petworth House (National Trust), 17 miles, and Goodwood, 19 miles. Beach 5 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 500 yards.

The conservatory provides a lovely sunny room to dine or doze in on a warm summer’s day, with gorgeous views over the paddocks. After dinner you can curl up, open a book or simply enjoy each other’s company in this relaxed country retreat. If you would like use of a freestanding fridge/freezer please advise before you arrive so access to it can be organised.
Why not bring your horses? This cottage benefits from its own stabling on site and, what’s more, the conservatory looks out over the paddocks where your horses can graze. Equestrian facilities are on offer for up to three horses (by prior arrangement at an additional cost): DIY livery including stabling, grazing paddocks, a lockable tack room and large lorry/horsebox parking on site. Centrally located for all things equestrian: hunts, several competition centres such as Coombelands,Hickstead, Goodwoord, polo clubs (Cowdray, Knepp and Hurtwood), flat racing, point to points at Parham or just hacks (including on the beach). You can explore the countryside on horseback as well as walking and/or cycling in the area.
Why not head out in the morning and return for an invigorating shower in the stunning white-tiled wet room, or take a picnic and wander into the evening skies to watch the sunset with a cold bottle of bubbles. Either way, a wonderful holiday experience in this quiet part of rural Sussex.

The owners have renovated the house to a high standard and provided very comfortable furnishings, modern living area, making Beach View a perfect holiday hot spot. Featuring very comfortable seating and a Smart TV, the living room is spacious and stylish. There is also a separate seating area overlooking the garden and a large dining area with ample space for the whole family. The fully equipped kitchen has everything you could need including oven, hob, dishwasher, fridge freezer and microwave. There’s also a separate utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer. As well as a selection of board games, there is a games room with a 3-in-1 game table including pool, table tennis, and air hockey. If you are bringing bikes, paddle boards, or kayaks on holiday, then the games room is the perfect place to store them.
With its shallow waters revealing a vast swathe of sand at low tide, Middleton-on-Sea has long been established as one of the prominent beach destinations on the south coast. This low-key seaside village offers an array of shops pubs and takeaways, including a very good fish and chip shop. Nearby Bognor Regis offers a great day out with large expanses of sand at low tide and the 3-mile-long promenade, which stretches from, Felpham to Aldwick. Butlins Resort is less than 15-minute drive away. Take a trip to Chichester where you can visit the city’s 12th-century cathedral, an area that is steeped in history. Visit Arundel with its historic castle and Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust, Fontwell Park Racecourse and, of course, not forgetting the spectacular Goodwood Estate, home to the world-famous Festival of Speed, Goodwood Revival and Goodwood Festival.
