The Cumbrian coastal village of Coulderton is located on the outskirts of St Bees, and about 3 miles from the market town of Egremont. You will be able to enjoy many local attractions including a special trip on the miniature railway at Ravenglass, enjoy the sights of the Lakes at Ennerdale or Buttermere, trips to Whitehaven with the famous Rum Story and Beacon Museum. Keswick and Windermere with their local shops, cafés and restaurants are well worth a vist.
Ludlow Bank is a single storey house and is suitable for all year round use with full central heating and hot tub in the garden. It is the ideal setting for your next seaside location, being able to enjoy coastal life while not being too far from Western Cumbria and The Lakes. Beach 20 yards. Wild Duck is a well presented, end-terrace cottage in the quiet village of Swarthmoor, located on the Furness peninsula. The open plan living space provides a comfortable and airy feel, with a large comfy sofa and armchair to relax in - the wood burner is the focal point and a warming welcome on those cooler evenings. A well-equipped kitchen has everything you need to start the day with a hearty breakfast or an evening meal, but with many excellent restaurants nearby you could be very easily tempted out for the evening. Upstairs there are two double bedrooms laid out over the first and second floor, with a good-sized family bathroom with bath and separate shower on the first floor. Young children have been well catered for, too, with a wicker crib, cot, toddler bed (as well as bedding for these) and a stairgate and highchair. Outside to the rear is a private and enclosed patio garden, a perfect place to have a drink and enjoy the sunsets on those long summer evenings with friends.
Located just on the outskirts of the popular town of Ulverston, 2 miles, home to many old pubs, restaurants, shops and a regular market, explore the many cobbled streets with small and interesting shops and historical architecture, it is the birthplace of Stan Laurel and the town’s Laurel and Hardy museum is well worth a visit.
Walkers will enjoy the start of the Cumbria Way from here, a relatively low level walk that follows paths and tracks along valleys and breathtaking passes. Nearby family attractions also include the South Lakes Wild Animal Park, Windermere, Coniston and a rewarding walk up Birkrigg Common with panoramic views over Morecambe Bay. Beach 3 miles. If you plan to explore, there are lots of activities right on your doorstep. The South Lakes Safari Zoo is only a 10-minute drive away and is one of Cumbria’s most popular tourist attractions! Ulverston is just a 5-minute drive away, a busy market town inundated with old historic buildings and cobbled streets, and is the start of the 70-mile Cumbrian Way.
You are spoilt for choice on places to explore in the surrounding areas. Barrow-in-Furness is a short drive away, a large town with plenty of shopping, bars, restaurants, cinema and a golf course. Both Walney Island and Newby Bridge are a 20-minute drive away, and at Newby Bridge you’ll find the home of the Lakes Aquarium and Windermere Lake cruises, offering boat rides across England’s largest lake.
Ulverston is a great base for a gateway into the lakes so whether you are planning to enjoy walking a few of the 214 Wainwright fells, cycling the fantastic roads nearby or driving over to many other popular towns around Cumbria including Ambleside, Coniston, Bowness-on-Windermere and Windermere, you are spoilt for choice! Drigg beach and sand dunes are about a mile away, and you have an excellent links golf course at Seascale, just walking distance from Holme Croft.
Muncaster Castle is a 10-minute drive where you can tour the haunted castle, take in the birds of prey show, and enjoy the stunning gardens. Take a ride on La’al Ratty, a narrow-gauge steam railway from Dalegarth to Boot, or you can enjoy kayaking, paddle boarding and gyhll scrambling with West Lakes Adventure.
