The highest mountain in England, Scafell Pike is a short drive through the countryside with beautiful lakes and walking routes nearby, while Drigg beach and Sand Dunes is about a mile away. You have an excellent links golf course at Seascale just walking distance from The Beach House at Whinthwaite. Muncaster Castle is a 10-minute drive where you can tour the haunted castle, take in the birds of prey show and enjoy the stunning gardens.
