With stunning scenery and lots of charming country pubs, the Ribble Valley is perfect for walkers and cyclists. The Forest of Bowland, which is one of the UK’s designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, covers over 300 square miles of rural Lancashire, and North Yorkshire is right on the doorstep. Cleveleys seafront is home to the Mythic Coast Artwork trail, where striking giant sculptures bring to life ’The Sea Swallow’ story. The vast beach is made up of sand and shingle, and you’ll find traditional past times of sandcastle building, and kite flying are as popular as ever. A few miles inland is the neighbouring village of Thornton, where you’ll find more shops, pubs and restaurants together with an 18th Century windmill and Wyre Estuary Country Park. The bright lights of Blackpool, Blackpool Pleasure Beach and Blackpool Tower are just 4 miles round the coast, and a few miles further you’ll reach the beautiful sandy beaches of St Annes and, wonderfully cosmopolitan, Lytham. Boasting spectacular views of Pendle Hill and the stunning surrounding Lancashire countryside, the site was previously a renowned fishery and quite wonderfully guests staying within the lodges have exclusive fishing rights, as well as access to the lakes for leisure purposes.
A popular and scenic area, Pendle Hill is within easy reach of the site as is the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which offers ample opportunity for remote walking and cycling away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. A quiet location set back off the A59, an easy 30-minute journey will take you to the city of Preston in one direction and historic Skipton and the Yorkshire Dales National Park in the other.
Local amenities that are literally over the road from the park include numerous eateries, a petrol station and a Co-op supermarket for necessary provisions. Just 1 mile away are the villages of Barrow and Whalley. Whalley has the stunning abbey numerous shops, pubs, eateries and The Whalley Wine Shop (that won the Decanter Award for the ‘Best Local Wine Shop 2021’ in the country). The ancient market town of Clitheroe is just 2 miles away, here you’ll find a Castle and plethora of specialist shops including an enormous underground wine cellar! Clitheroe Golf Club is just half a mile from the park, and for a change of scenery why not visit the Lake District which is whithin a hours drive. The Fylde Coast which includes Blackpool and Lytham St Annes can be reached within 45 minutes. Further amenities can be found in the market towns of Kirkham and Poulton-Le-Fylde which are around a 15-minute drive and home to ample places to eat and drink, together with a vibrant nightlife.
The Fylde coastal resorts of Blackpool, Lytham, St Annes and Cleveleys can be reached in around a 20-minute drive and between them is much to see and do. In wonderfully cosmopolitan Lytham there is a variety of bars, cafés, boutique shops and restaurants, and in St Annes you will find a beautiful sandy beach with colourful beach huts. The area is internationally famous for golf and the towns also host various events throughout the year, including the Lytham Proms and St Annes Kite Festival. Blackpool needs little introduction with its many attractions including the famous tower, Madame Tussauds Waxworks, the Sealife Centre, Pleasure Beach and Blackpool Zoo. For a change of scenery the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which is much loved for its stunning countryside and picturesque villages, can be reached in about half an hour. An hour’s drive can take you to the Lake District or city centres of both Manchester and Liverpool. Beach 9½ miles.

It’s remote and secretive split of land allows the chance for nature to thrive, and thus, is a perfect spot for bird watching. The popular seaside resort of Morecambe hosts many attractions from picking up the freshly caught shrimp at the daily farmers market to afternoon tea’s on the seafront, there is lots to offer. There is an abundance of fun to be had for the family including bowling, cinema and arcade centres or why not try out the quirky cafés, pubs and cocktail bars along the sea front?
The property is just a 5-minute drive from the M6 motorway making it easily accessible to the south Lake District National Park and North Yorkshire. For golfers, Heysham Golf Club is just 2 miles away, and there are also courses at Morecambe, Lancaster, Kirkby Lonsdale and Silverdale. Beach 3 miles.

The Lancashire mill town of Bacup is around a 2-mile drive, and here you’ll find a comprehensive range of shops and amenities. Located on the Lancashire/Yorkshire boundary, it’s also home to Stubbylee Park which has an outdoor gym, tennis courts and an off road cycling ‘pump track’. Rawtenstall is around a 15-minute drive and boasts cobbled streets, a thriving market and local independent businesses. It has one of the best dry ski slopes in England and is also the northern point of the heritage East Lancs Railway.
The mountain bike trails of Lee and Cragg Quarry can be picked up just outside Bacup, and the surrounding countryside including the nearby Rossendale Valley is popular with walkers and hikers. Other local attractions include The Whitaker Art Gallery, the ’Singing Ringing Tree’ and the ’Halo’, Burnley and Rossendale’s panopticons, and the National Trust’s Gawthorpe Hall. Finally, the city of Manchester is around a 40-minute drive or a 30-minute direct train from Walsden or Todmorden train stations.

The beautiful Fylde coast can be reached in around 15 minutes including Thornton Cleveleys with its old fashioned charm and promenade, Fleetwood with the Freeport Outlet Shopping Village and of course the razzle, dazzle, glitz and glamour of Blackpool. To name a few of the many Blackpool attractions you have the famous Tower and Ballroom, Blackpool Zoo, the Pleasure Beach, Coral Island, the Sea Life Centre and Madame Tussauds. Aside from being accessible for the coast, the location is also well-placed for exploring rural Lancashire. The Ribble Valley, Forest of Bowland AONB, the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks can all be reached around an hour. The city of Lancaster is just 16 miles away and Preston 18 miles.
