This heated, single-storey holiday property is suitable for all year round use and is ideal for experiencing a seaside location while being not too far from the Western area of the Lake District National Park. Enjoy local coastal and fell walking, bike trails, the C2C cycleway or golf at St Bees, Whitehaven and Seascale. Take time to explore the green valley of Eskdale, the splendour of Wasdale, take a trip on the narrow gauge steam railway at Ravenglass, stroll around the lake at Ennerdale or Buttermere, visit the Georgian town of Whitehaven and its popular Marina harbourside, or take a tour of Muncaster Castle and its beautiful gardens. A single track railway line runs along an embankment behind the back garden. The property is reached by ½ mile of rough unmade road/track. Shop and pubs 2½ miles.

You’ll be on the right track during your stay at The Station Master’s House, which forms part of the former railway station in the hamlet of Torver. Close to Coniston Water, this is an excellent starting point to explore the nearby countryside and wildlife, and the Lakeland Fells including Coniston Old Man. The property has been thoughtfully furnished throughout, with a well-equipped kitchen and a living/dining room which boasts comfy leather sofas. The property offers two double bedrooms, one of which has an additional single bed, and they both have sumptuous bed linen adding an extra comfort. They both enjoy views over the beautiful garden and surrounding area. This spacious cottage still has the distinctive feel of its former use, with a raised lawned terrace which is part of the old platform - the perfect place to sit and relax.
The nearby Lakeland villages of Coniston and Hawkshead are idyllic and have an abundance of shops and cafés. For the more adventurous, why not take to the tree top challenge at Grizedale Forest, or venture along the many paths by foot or by bike. For steam enthusiasts, you can still take to the tracks with a ride on the Lakeside and Haverthwaite trains near Ulverston, or the elegant Victorian Steam Yacht Gondola which sails between March and November on Coniston Water. Situated on the very fringe of the Lake District National Park, between Cockermouth and Ennerdale, it offers easy access for walking and cycling routes, as well as arguably some of the most picturesque scenery. Nearby is Cockermouth at just 5 miles away with an abundance of independent shops, coffee shops, restaurants and attractions. There is something for everyone here to make a great holiday.
