Well worth a day out for any family or group are Matlock Bath, 20 miles, Alton Towers, 22 miles and Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall, a comfortable drive away. Set on top of the highest hill for many miles around, the views are outstanding and the walking and cycling extremely rewarding. There are hundreds of miles of trails which start straight from the barn, it is an ideal opportunity to park-up, put the car keys away and just relax! Bailey’s Barn is a great base from which to explore the beauty and majesty of the region’s peaks, dales and rivers. With its own quirky traditions such as Bonsall Carnival, International Hen Racing Championships, ancient buildings and History Trails, Bonsall itself is a delightful find with two pubs and a lovely tearoom all within half a mile or so. Matlock Bath is a well known resort on the River Derwent. Visit the popular Heights of Abraham cable cars, enjoy fish and chips, and numerous entertainments throughout the year. The Matlock Bath illuminations and firework display are especially popular in autumn bringing in the crowds and lighting up the sky. A little further afield, Chatsworth House and Bakewell provide a wonderful day out, exploring the local businesses that line the streets. The location and property really are second to none and the perfect place for a break at any time of the year.

For lovers of the great outdoors, Nield Bank Bungalow, standing detached, offers an idyllic picturesque location, with the final approach to the cottage taking you directly to the centre of the fabulous White Peak countryside. An abundance of walking is available direct from the doorstep, including to the village of Flash (the highest village in England), where you can embark on the Three Shires Heads route, where the counties of Staffordshire, Cheshire and Derbyshire meet.

Although a truly rural location and perfect for getting away from it all, the spa town of Buxton, famous for its water and opera house, is just 5 miles away. A friendly local shop and pub serving food is less than a mile away, and a number of other Peak District towns and villages are easily accessible, including Longnor with its quaint cobbled market square which is just a 10-minute drive. The ever popular villages of Hartington, Eyam and Castleton are all easily reachable in around half an hour, as is the busy market town of Bakewell and the Alton Towers theme park. The magnificent historic houses of Chatsworth and Haddon Hall can be reached in around 40 minutes, as can Matlock with its cable car to the Heights of Abraham. Shop, pub and restaurant ¾ mile.
