The original farmhouse is early 19th century, and was historically both a working farm and a pub. Featured as one of the doctor’s houses in the TV series ’Peak Practice’, this makes an excellent base for visiting all the Peak District has to offer, with Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall close at hand, as well as Crich Tram Village and Hardwick Hall. The renowned show caves at Castleton are an easy drive, whilst Carsington Water for fly fishing and watersports is within 15 miles. Chesterfield with its crooked church spire is just 6 miles. The character of the cottage is continued upstairs into the large bedroom, where you will find a well-presented kingsize bed, and amazing views from a dual aspect window, a great place where you can look forward to unwinding with a good book in hand. On this floor you will find a great family room with bunk bed and a single bed, ideal for children.

Outside is a private patio with seating and hot tub, where you and your loved one can soak up the sun whilst admiring the surroundings. If you can tear yourself away from this idyllic base, a short walk will bring you to a local pub serving food, whilst the nearby town of Chesterfield offers a larger selection of pubs and good restaurants.

The historic market town of Chesterfield acts as the gateway to the Peak District, and has much to offer visitors. The town is famous for its 14th-century church with its crooked spire twisting curiously from its centre, while the town offers guests the opportunity to explore the market and many of the specialist shops dotted in and out of the shambles. The town also boasts Queens Park, with its lake, walks and summer bandstand, as well as a museum and theatre. Close by you will find the impressive Elizabethan Hardwick Hall, with its six grand towers elaborately monogramed with Bess of Hardwick’s initials, overlooking the superb gardens and walled courtyards of the grounds. Also popular with visitors is the semi-ruined 17th-century mansion of Bolsover Castle, set high on a wooded hilltop, looking west towards the heights of the Peak District.

Within easy reach you will discover attractions such as Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall, Matlock and Bakewell, or the opera house at Buxton. Yew Tree Cottage is located in the quaint village of Holymoorside, one of the many hamlets in Chesterfield. It is home to two fantastic pubs, one of which is owned by Peak Ales meaning it has fantastic local beers on offer, and the second pub’s head chef featured on the Great British Menu and offers fantastic food options. There are ample walks directly from the door or a little further you can reach trails taking you to Linacre reservoir or into Matlock which is the next town on. The town is full of high street shops, great restaurants and there are many tourist attractions locally such as Chatsworth House which is only 6 miles away.
As you arrive at Yew Tree Cottage you are greeted by a fantastic garden with stunning views over the village and the countryside, enter the cottage into the spacious, social space the kitchen offers, with breakfast bar, dining table, sofa and skylight windows with an unspoilt view of the sky, there is a snug just off from here with comfortable sofa, TV and log burner. Also on the ground floor is a shower room which has a handy storage area for boots and coats and the main living room offering comfortable seating, a large TV with Sky and a second wood burner. Up the stairs to the first floor is the family shower room, a single, spacious bedroom and also a twin bedroom with a walk-in wardrobe. This holiday cottage is spacious, yet intimate, and commands beautiful views of the countryside surrounding the peaceful village of Sheldon, only 3 miles from the market town of Bakewell. The oldest part of the cottage dates from 1800 and has been converted skilfully into a living room with tasteful furnishings, original beams, exposed stone walls and a large fireplace with a multi-fuel burner. There is a large dining area adjacent to the living room and a kitchen which leads into a south-facing conservatory, ideal for breakfast and relaxing. There is a downstairs toilet and utility area. Upstairs has three large double bedrooms (two with en-suite showers) and a bathroom. One of the bedrooms has a 6ft zip and link bed which can be used as a double bed or two single beds. The cottage has Sky TV and wi-fi internet access. Only a few steps from the main cottage is a games room and studio apartment. The large, heated games room has a pool table and table tennis table as well as a drying room for wet clothes and boots. Above the games room is the studio with sitting room and a double bedroom with en-suite. The sitting room has a sofa bed (for alternative sleeping only) and a TV. The cottage stands in an enclosed garden which has driveway parking for four vehicles, flower beds and two lawns. The larger lawn overlooks the nearby fields and hills, and is ideal for ball games. The village is within easy reach of Bakewell and Ashford-on-the-Water, and is an excellent starting point for walking, exploring the countryside and visiting Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, The Heights of Abraham in Matlock Bath, the caves around Castleton and many other attractions in the Peak District. Enjoy a thrilling day at Gulliver’s Kingdom, with its owl maze, water gardens, nature trails, exhilarating rides and cable car trips over the magnificent Matlock Gorge. Follow the High Peak Cycle Trail, explore the lovely market town of Bakewell, famous for the Bakewell pudding or visit the elegant Chatsworth House and Hardwick Hall where it all started for the Cavendish family. Bee Keepers Cottage is located on a working farm on the edge of Derbyshire’s Peak District, the cottage overlooks the 18 hole golf course at Shirland Golf and country club where visitors day passes are available.

The cottage has beautiful rural views and offers guests the peace and quiet of rural living yet within easy access of local attractions and transport networks, and there is a golf course boarding the property’s grounds and miles of footpath networks adjacent to the farm.

Chatsworth House, Hardwick Hall and Crich tramway museum are a short drive away. Local towns include Matlock, Bakewell and Chesterfield. Derby and Nottinghamshire are a 20-minute drive.

The location is popular with walkers who enjoy the beautiful walks and trails straight from the doorstep.

All accommodation is on the ground floor. The Large modern kitchen/dining area to seat 6 and opens out onto the living area with Smart TV. The kitchen has an electric eye level oven, built in microwave, induction hob, fridge/ freezer, dishwasher and washing machine.

Two bedrooms have king size beds, and the third a single bed, and there is a family bathroom with bath and shower above – there is also an additional shower room with quadrant shower cubicle, toilet and basin.

Outside there are two seating areas, a BBQ, gardens and plenty of off-road parking.

Guests are welcome to visit the horses in the barn next to the property (prior arrangement with the owner), please supervise children for their safety.

Little Barn is a light, bright, stunning detached barn situated on an equestrian centre, with sheep, hens and a very friendly dog. The barn is next to a golf course, overlooking rural countryside and with the owner living on-site. This property offers open plan living at its very best. A spacious living/kitchen/dining area has been furnished with a quirky, eclectic range of items, which will be adored by everyone who stays there. Little Barn has been designed for people who want to get away from it all regardless of the time of year to enjoy the beauty and tranquillity offered by this idyllic location. Relax on the patio and enjoy the views over the hills to the famous Crich Stand war memorial.
The cottage offers walking and cycling right from the doorstep, and within a 5-minute drive there are trials for walking, cycling and horse riding, and within 15 minutes is the Crich Tramway Museum. Little Barn is located next to the villages of Higham and Wessington where you will find country pubs serving food and real ale. Close by is Hardwick Hall, built in the 1590s by ’Bess of Hardwick’, the second most powerful woman in England after Queen Elizabeth I. The Hall, and even its original tapestries and textiles, have survived unaltered for four centuries, and it is now open to the public by the National Trust. Near the estate’s original water mill, still in operation and open to visitors, is the Hardwick Inn, also built in the 16th century, probably by the masons who built the hall.
A little further away are the delights of the Peak District, including Chatsworth House, a 30-minute drive, and the town of Matlock is just a 15-minute drive, with the amazing Heights of Abraham at nearby Matlock Bath, as well as some stunning countryside. For a nostalgic journey back in time through the Derbyshire countryside take a trip on one of Peak Rails steam engines, or visit Cromford Canal and take a trip into the past on an historic narrow boat. The towns of Chesterfield and Derby are just a 20-minute drive away, and nearby Nottinghamshire is also just 20-minutes away, here you can visit Nottingham’s castle or Sherwood Forest to go on a Robin Hood hunt! Close by is Teversal, a small village in Nottinghamshire which is surrounded by the Teversal Trail Visitors Centre, offering great access to the Teversal and Pleasley Trails network, perfect for enjoying a variety of walks and cycle routes.
