Cunliffe Cottage is a wonderfully bright and extremely spacious ground floor cottage, just 1 mile from the centre of Hathersage in the stunning Hope Valley. Beautifully refurbished in 2020, the cottage can be found at the end of a private drive on the friendly owner’s working farm and with the owners living adjacent. Benefitting from underfloor heating, three bedrooms, two of which are en-suite and a further bathroom, and stunning views over the surrounding countryside, it really does make for a luxury rural break. You’ll also find ample private parking and an enclosed patio with seating area to relax, take stock and simply enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
Hathersage is a large, busy village in the heart of the Peak District National Park, and has associations with both Robin Hood and the Brontës. It is home to a good selection of shops, cafés and restaurants, as well as, quite uniquely, a seasonal outdoor heated swimming pool. Centrally located, the neighbouring village of Bamford is just over 1 mile away, Hope 3 miles and then the beautiful honeypot village of Castleton is just under 5 miles away. The fascinating plague village of Eyam is around a 15 minute drive; Bakewell and Chatsworth House are around 20 minutes away. Hathersage, Bamford and Hope all have their own train stations connecting you to the bright lights of Sheffield and Manchester. An area popular with lovers of the great outdoors, you’ll find ample walking, cycling and climbing available. Stanage and Burbage Edge are both nearby and reward you with superb views of the Dark Peak moorlands. Ultimately whether you’re looking to explore this wonderful part of the Peak District by foot or by car, or simply escape from a hectic life, Cunliffe Cottage really does make a wonderful base. Enjoy quality family time by staying in the beautiful area of the Peak District on the owner’s working livestock farm, where there is no light pollution and a great location for stargazing at night. Carr View (Ref UK36953) is one of two holiday properties finished to an extremely high standard and the owner takes great pride in ensuring you have the perfect stay. On the ground floor you will enter into the boot room, which has a neatly placed washing machine in a cupboard, kick your boots off and enter into the beautifully designed open plan kitchen which has all you need to enjoy your self-catering holiday with the dining room which has ample seating for six guests made up of chairs and a bench. The living room is very cosy with comfy sofas and an electric wood burner to bring a wonderful sense of relaxation to the room. Upstairs are three bedrooms, all with zip and link beds that can be made into twins on request, the master bedroom has a slightly larger bed and an en-suite. The family bathroom carries the same quality as the rest of the house and has been done beautifully, with walk in shower and bath.
Outside is a garden with a patio area and lawn, perfect to watch the sun rise and set. There is also a river running through the site, and a lake giving the opportunity for some cold water wild swimming!
The helpful owners, that live on-site, are on hand should you need anything, and provide luxury towels, complimentary toiletries, a welcome pack and even a Christmas tree for holidays throughout December.
There are electric car charging points just 5 minutes away in The Anglers Rest pub car park, and just 10 minutes away in the Hope village car park.
The location of this property offers seclusion with many fantastic countryside walks from the doorstep and a National Cycle Route nearby, so you wouldn’t really need to take the car. Or alternatively, a short drive into Castleton to visit the caves or venture into nearby towns of Bakewell and Buxton. Absorb the life of a working farm in the Peak District by visiting the cows, watching the lambs play and the chickens from the dining room window. This property really is the perfect base to explore the Hope Valley region of the Peak District, and close by is garden centre with café, a pottery and bike hire. Two pubs within 1 mile.

Our lodge is also home to table football and a swing ball set. Laburnum Lodge has two parking spaces with step free access into the lodge, which was designed especially for its first owner, a wheelchair user. Laburnum Lodge is fully equipped with all the essentials, including a dishwasher, Nespresso machine, Smart TV and Fibre Broadband. You will also find some more old-fashioned extras including a selection of holiday reads and board games. The central dining area seats up to six people, with an extendable dining table. Why not take advantage of the Boardwalk, a promenade of six boutique retailers, centred around a fabulous two storey bar and restaurant. From here you front onto a raised wooden walkway offering terrific views of the water, boats, and wildlife. You will also discover a sensory garden at the end of The Boardwalk to sit and relax and watch the world go by. Close by Findern is a lovely village situated about six miles west of Derby. The village green is overlooked by All Saints Parish Church where a carved semi-circular stone or ’tympanum’ discovered when the previous Norman Church was demolished in 1862, is preserved. There are great walks in the area and It is a great base to explore the Peak District with its market towns of Bakewell and Ashbourne, as well as its many pretty villages. Also, the National Trust properties of Calke Abbey, Kedleston Hall and Sudbury Hall with its museum of childhood are all within 10 miles. A little further is the National Trust owned Hardwick Hall, and the Duke of Devonshire’s Chatsworth Estate with its annual country fair and Adventure Farm for children.
The National Memorial Arboretum and the rich heritage of Burton-on-Trent with its fantastic National Brewery Centre Museum is just down the road. You can also venture into the National Forest with the award-winning Conkers attraction just 10 miles away, plus Castle Donnington racetrack is just 20 minutes’ drive and Alton Towers is 30 minutes’ away. Monameeth bungalow has been renovated into luxury self-catering accommodation. It is located in the beautiful village of Monyash, just a short drive from its nearest towns of Bakewell and Buxton, which both offer fantastic shops, restaurants, cafés and attractions. Monyash has an excellent pub within walking distance from the property which serves great drinks along with tasty home cooked meals, the perfect stop after a day walking the trails.

Abbots Abode is a characteristic cottage sleeping up to six guests in two bedrooms. On the ground floor is a spacious, fully-equipped kitchen with farmhouse dining table to seat all guests, and a comfortable living room with ample seating, electric wood burner and TV. On the first floor is a family bathroom with shower over bath, a double bedroom and the second bedroom has four single beds - please note two of the single beds are up a short and secure ladder to the mezzanine, perfect for kids. There is a shared utility room on site with washing machine with hanging space to dry wet coats or boots. The property has a garden to the front with stunning views down the Peak District valley, it is a perfect spot to enjoy a morning coffee while planning your day ahead.
The views from Monks Retreat are beautiful, just a short walk away you have an extensive panorama or seven dales and can see far out into the distance to the high moorlands of Axe Edge and Kinder Scout. The Limestone Way trail runs directly through the farm so you can easily hope on to this for your first exciting Peak District walk, there are many in the area such as Monsal Trail, High Peak Trail and Tissington Trail to name a few. Local to the property is Buxton town which offers an array of restaurants, pubs and shops, as well as the famous opera house that has shows on regularly. Bakewell and Matlock are also nearby to explore, as well as Chatsworth House. After you have enjoyed a fun-filled day head down to the local pub to enjoy some local ales and home cooked food.
