This spacious holiday accommodation, situated on a working farm, is in an ideal place to explore this lovely area, and is also in a conservation area, with walks from the doorstep. It is 1 mile from Whaley Bridge where you can stroll along the tow path to the Buxworth Basin or take a narrow boat trip. Whaley Bridge also has a train station to help explore if you want to leave the car behind. You could spend a day in Manchester and take in a show for the evening. 6½ miles away is the famous spa town of Buxton which also boasts an opera house and Pavilion Gardens. Book a day in the Dome Spa to relax or travel a little further and visit Chatsworth House and its amazing gardens and estate. Medieval Haddon Hall and the old market town of Bakewell is a must and you can travel through Winnets Pass to the charming village of Castleton with its famous caves where the Blue John stone is mined. Take a tour by boat through these caves and learn about the history of the people and how they mined them. Matlock Bath and Alton Towers make great days out for families. There are plenty of activities to enjoy locally including inhouse clay pigeon shooting lessons (at cost, by arrangement with owner) and there is also golf and horse riding located within 5 miles of the property. Situated within a 2 minute walk to a riverside pub, with village shops and other pubs within a 10-minute walk.

Sailing, walking, nature trails, bicycle hire and golf are all available locally. The coast, with its sandy beaches, is only 12 miles and visitors can experience the delights of the attractive coastal villages. For the children, a day out at BeWILDerwood in Horning or Wroxham Barns are a short drive away. Alternatively spend a day in the city of Norwich, 8 miles, with its cathedral, museums, theatres and a vast array of cafes and shops. Blakeney Quay is a short walk past the village shop (with bacon for the ever-obliging crabs). From here is access to the marsh or up to the village. Blakeney is a bird-watcher’s paradise; the coastal path runs in front of the house, there are seals at Blakeney Point, and it is surrounded by beautiful countryside walks. The historic little town of Holt is close by and offers a range of shops, pubs, restaurants, cafés and weekly markets. Within a few minutes’ drive is Holt Lowes, an area renowned for wildlife, designated as both a Site of Special Scientific Interest and Special Area of Conservation. Also worth a visit is Holt Country Park with its wealth of bird life, as well as other RSPB reserves. The region has several stately homes such as NT Blickling and Felbrigg Halls, Holkham Hall and Houghton Hall. Other interesting days out include visits to Sheringham Park, and Walsingham Shrine and Priory ruins. Sheringham offers golf and is home to the North Norfolk Steam Railway, Splash aqua pool, a promenade and a pier. Within easy driving distance is Norwich with its excellent shopping, restaurants, cathedral, theatre, pubs, cinema and markets. Wells-next-the-Sea is 5 miles and Holkham’s vast sandy beach is just 8 miles. Windsurfing, dinghy launching, sailing and boat trips are all available locally. Shops 100 yards.

Alternatively, spend a day in the city of Norwich, 9 miles, with its cathedral, museums, theatres and a vast array of cafés and shops. One of the double bedrooms has en-suite facilities, and all rooms offer beautiful views across the fields and the cottage garden.

The cottage benefits from a lovely large garden and large seating terrace with well (grid placed in well for safety), and there is ample parking on the drive for many cars. The cottage is in a good location for exploring and is only a short drive from the quaint coastal town of Blakeney and close to Wells-next-the-Sea with its outstanding sandy beach. There are miles of heritage coastline, with creeks, marshes, cliffs, beaches and dunes to explore. Discover Holkham and Blakeney National Nature Reserves, including the renowned Blakeney Point, which are both ideal for bird and seal watching. Visit Cley Marshes, Titchwell Marsh and Snettisham Nature Reserves, and Pensthorpe Nature Reserve, which is only a 15-minute drive from the cottage. There are plenty of historical places to visit, with Sandringham Estate, Holkham Hall, Houghton Hall, Blickling Hall and Felbrigg Hall all within easy reach. The Norfolk Coastal Path stretches for miles and there are many delightful cycle rides, including Peddars Way, which passes to the west of the cottage through Harpley, Docking and Sedgeford to Hunstanton, where it joins the Norfolk Coastal Path. The Poppy Line Steam Railway and Norfolk Broads are within easy reach. The renowned village of Holt is only 6 miles away with its cafés, boutiques, galleries and antique shops. Horse riding, horse racing and golf are all within easy reach. Shop 3½ miles, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

Oasis is a stunning end of terrace cottage which has been lovingly updated and extended to a high standard. It is perfect for families and couples wanting to explore the Essex countryside. Oasis is a gem with a fabulous open plan modern living space, featuring underfloor heating, a 43” Smart TV, Laura Ashley leather sofas and a large snuggler armchair. The dining area can easily seat eight, and the kitchen is well-equipped. There is also a cosy snug with an ornate wood burner, 46” Smart TV and a chaise-style couch and armchair. From here a door leads to some steep, 18th-century stairs to two of the bedrooms, which both have casement windows with lovely views over the front garden and village street. The snug also leads to a wet room with a multi-jet ’tower’ shower, and a utility room with a washing machine, tumble dryer and a butler sink, and there is a half size door through to to a patio area and garden.
Upstairs there is a master bedroom with Juliet balcony and stunning views over the garden. The generous 1/3-acre garden is laid mainly to lawn, with a variety of mature trees, including ash, birch, horse chestnut, walnut, palm trees and various fruit trees. The rear garden is enclosed, whilst the side garden is laid to gravel and provides parking for five cars.
Bradwell-on-Sea is a friendly unspoilt village located on the Dengie Peninsular. Here you will find the oldest chapel in England (St.Peter’s) dating back to 653 AD. There are excellent water sports available on the Blackwater estuary and nearby attractions include RHS Hyde Hall, and the town of Maldon with boat trips and fantastic splash parks for children. Beach 1 mile. Shop, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

The perfect choice for a family holiday or a relaxing break with friends, this delightful, 18th-century, barn conversion is Grade II listed and sits within the pretty hamlet of Ford just a couple of miles from Bideford and the glorious North Devon coast. There is a large garden with fencing, enabling dogs to be able to play freely. With two living areas and a galleried snug, there is plenty of space for all generations to relax and unwind in. The beach at Westward Ho! is just 4 miles; renowned for its beauty, it has 2 miles of sandy beach known as the Golden Bay, and is popular with surfers. Coastal and country walking, golf, surfing, fishing, horse riding, cycling are all on offer close by, and for family fun, The Big Sheep and Milky Way adventure parks are not to be missed. Fossil-rich cliffs define this dramatic stretch of coastline, which encompasses the 2,000-acre National Trust estate of Golden Cap. This is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and superb walking country, both on the rolling chalk hills overlooking fertile inland valleys and on the coastal footpaths offering spectacular clifftop views. It is also an area full of romance and history, with three ancient hill forts and the house and gardens of Forde Abbey all nearby.

A range of attractions is on offer in nearby country towns. Lyme Regis is a pretty seaside resort, its elegant colour-washed buildings and promenade lining a handsome harbour. Motor boats can be hired and there are fishing trips, a sailing school and a windsurfing school. Bridport is a thriving market town, featured on TV’s River Cottage, the Port Bredy of Hardy’s novels, offering a good choice of shops, inns, restaurants, an arts centre and a sports centre with indoor pool. The coastline is excellent for sea fishing and inland waters offer good coarse fishing. Golfers will find courses at Lyme Regis and West Bay and there is also horse riding nearby within 5 miles.
