This beautiful two-bedroom holiday home in East Devon showcases stunning views across the surrounding countryside and the deer fields in front of the property. Recently built in 2022, the property sits alongside the owner’s home on a working farm (dogs are present on the farm, but will be with the owners), and is situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, just outside the town of Ottery St. Mary. This cosy rural retreat offers a great base for a couple or a family looking to explore the delights of the beautiful county of Devon, and the unique experience of the deer being able to wander right up to the fence bordering the property’s garden whilst relaxing in the private hot tub.
As you enter Deer View Retreat, you will be welcomed into the entrance area with patio doors opening out into the garden, the perfect cosy spot to enjoy a mug of coffee with a good book. This then leads through to the open plan living and dining area where you can wind down and watch a film after a busy day exploring the coastline or enjoy a family meal together. Enjoy your breakfast in the well-equipped kitchen whilst taking in the far reaching views, the stag with his magnificent antlers and the ever-changing scenery. There’s also a handy utility area next door.
Discover the two stylish bedrooms and the bathroom on the first floor. The first has a double bed, the second is furnished with zip and link twin beds, and the shower room is fitted with a walk-in shower, heated towel rail, toilet and sink.
The town of Ottery St. Mary has beautiful architecture and historic buildings lining the streets, backed by rural Devonshire countryside. Wander through the centre to browse independent shops and galleries or stroll along the River Otter to admire the unusual Tumbling Weir. If you’re exploring beyond the town, you’ll be close to the quintessential East Devon coastal towns and villages of Budleigh Salterton, Beer, Branscombe, Sidmouth, Exmouth and Seaton. Exeter and Honiton are also within easy reach. The Southwest Coast Path is nearby and keen hikers should head to Dartmoor National Park with is just a 30-minute drive away. Situated in the old water mill and overlooking the water wheel, this two bedroom cottage is set within a cobbled courtyard and is a 5-minute drive from the main Broughton Hall Estate and the facilities there. Mill Cottage has been updated to give a truly retro feel both in design and furnishings, with bright and comfortable interiors. Step into a spacious dining area with large table and chairs and snug areas to relax and unwind in. Double doors into the living area with a cosy wood burner, TV and writing desk. A large well equipped kitchen, complete with all modern appliances, completes the ground floor. Upstairs are two comfortable bedrooms with super kingsize beds and high quality bedding. Outside is a communal cobbled courtyard with seating and a beautiful landscaped area where the stream runs through and the original mill wheel stands, peacocks wander freely displaying their beautiful plumage.
The vast 3000-acre grounds are at your disposal, wander down through the estate and admire the imposing stately home of Broughton Hall itself, spot wildlife and birds as well as quaint bridges across the river. Within the estate are the Land Rover Experience offices from where experience days are offered (by direct arrangement with the owner) for an exhilarating drive along the land rover track and obstacles on the estate.
The popular market town of Skipton is 3 miles away and offers a host of things to do for all ages. The Tour de France and the Tour de Yorkshire have both passed through Skipton and the surrounding countryside in recent years. Why not bring your bike and explore some of the routes for yourself? The area is peppered with gourmet pubs serving local produce as well as hearty, traditional pub food and there is a wide variety of restaurants and bars in Skipton to choose from should you wish to treat yourself and dine out during your stay. The Woodshed is the former timber store to Buckland Mill, which was converted into its current incarnation in 2019 by the current owners. It is in a beautifully peaceful and private forest clearing which after a short drive through it gloriously comes into sight! There is ample parking available to the front of the barn and as you enter you are greeted by the characterful open plan living room with plenty of seating and a cosy wood burner. The beautiful beech and copper staircase, with wood sourced from the woodland, leads to the first floor and two lovely bedrooms comprising a double and a kingsize, both with quality, modern en-suite shower rooms. Back downstairs, the dining area and modern, well-equipped kitchen are both framed by a lovely, exposed stone wall. The whole of the ground floor also benefits from underfloor heating.
Heading out from the kitchen, there is a warm tiled hallway which is perfect for keeping your outdoor accessories and walking boots and there’s access to a separate toilet and a handy enclosed courtyard area with a dog shower. The hallway can also double up as a peaceful retreat where you can sit and relax. Outside, you can enjoy roaming the vast 25 acres of pasture and woodland where domestic sheep and wild deer can sometimes be seen grazing. The grouinds boast an amazing varierty of birdlife including owls, woodpeckers, pheasants, Canada geese, moorhens and indeed everything from the smallest of finches to large birds of prey. Mr Fox is also a frequent visitor! Solitude is plentiful - you can simply relax just up a few steps in the private lawned area, or if you are feeling more sociable, sit by the firepit with a drink in hand. Should you be the ‘energetic sort’, there is a pétanque piste, which will inevitably require a healthy supply of wine to appreciate the ambience! The property has 25 acres (approximately 50% pasture land and 50% woodland) which guests are welcome to roam on. The small lawn behind the barn is the only private area though. The rest is shared with the owner when they are present next door and there is a public right of way through the forest.
The Woodshed is approximately 7 miles from Great Torrington and 14 miles south of the port town of Bideford and just 20 miles from the Cornish coastal town of Bude to the West. Devon is famed for its fantastic natural attractions such as Exmoor and Dartmoor National Parks, and the former with its magical night skies in Europe’s first ’Dark Sky Reserve’, many rugged coastal towns and quaint villages such as Lynton & Lynmouth, Ilfracombe and the world-famous Clovelly Village in North Devon and King Arthur’s Tintagel and many other North Cornwall coastal villages - all with awe-inspiring scenery.
With its selection of stunning beaches it will leave you spoilt for choice with award winning stretches of sand like Saunton, Woolacombe and Croyde and not far from Bideford is Westward Ho! Beach. The Tarka Trail is on the doorstep and the fantastic South West Coastal Path offers 90 miles of amazing walks.

Take a beautiful Peak District National Park setting, just 3½ miles from Bakewell, add a historic hall (first recorded in the Domesday Book), and an ancient cluster of listed buildings converted to form superb holiday cottage accommodation, and the result is the captivating blend that is Harthill Hall.

Nestling in 14 acres of grounds on an upland called Priest’s Hill with excellent walking available from the doorstep, the properties have the use of an extensive range of leisure facilities including an indoor heated swimming pool, sauna, solarium and treatment rooms. Noble names have woven the threads of the hall’s long history including Henry de Ferrers, the Cokaynes and the Harthills. Henry VIII is also believed to have stayed at the hall.

It was here in 1259 that Sir Richard de Hartle was issued a Papal Bull by Pope Alexander II, allowing him to appoint his own chaplain. The chapel ceased its functions as a place of worship in 1546 and now takes the form of The Chapel and Hartle Cottage. The eight cottages are furnished with antiques and surround a medieval cobbled courtyard. They all retain a wealth of original features including thick stone walls, large oak beams, mullion windows and flagstone floors. Derbyshire’s bustling market towns, villages, hills, dales and rivers offer majestic scenery, and a rich variety of customs. Boasting a varied and beautiful landscape, they offer a blend of heritage, history and family attractions.

The beautiful market town of Bakewell (3½ miles) is situated on the River Wye, crossed by a 13th-century five-arched bridge which has coffee shops and restaurants. Within easy reach are Matlock, Hall Leys Park, Chesterfield, Alfreton and Buxton. National Trust properties and gardens nearby include Riley Graves, Longshaw, Mam Tor, South Peak, Dovedale, Hardwick Hall and Kedleston Hall. Close by are both Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall. Golf and horse riding are available within 5 miles. Shop 3½ miles, pub 1 mile.

Mews Cottage is a beautifully presented two-bedroom, semi-detached holiday home set in the heart of Tintagel on the Northern Cornish coast. It is an original Cornish stone and slate dwelling. Whilst being within a few seconds walk on a private walk way to the hustle and bustle of Tintagel Village, you can still enjoy the peaceful serenity that Mews Cottage offers being in a small secluded area from the village. Mews has a free parking permit available which is provided by the owners.
The historical cottage, built around the 1890’s and was a former stables for a local Inn, feels bright and stylish whilst maintaining the rustic feel of the property. After an action-packed day exploring the coast, enter into the kitchen/dining area where you will find everything you need to enjoy a self-catered break. Head into the spacious lounge where you can unwind on the comfortable seating, watch a film on the smart TV whilst enjoying the glows of the electric wood burner in the background. This warm and light room has double doors which lead into the enclosed courtyard area which can create a fresh and airy feel throughout the entire day. Perfect for enjoying the warm Cornish evenings or a morning coffee. An absolute sun trap. Upstairs are two cosy bedrooms, wonderfully presented with high apexed ceilings displaying exposed wooden beams. The master bedroom offers a kingsize bed and next door is the light and airy twin bedroom. A shower room with heated towel rail completes the picture. Enjoy the fantasitic span of the countryside and a distant sea view.
Mews Cottage is just a few steps from the main street, with a variety of shops, pubs, restaurants and Tintagel Castle, the mythical home of King Arthur. There is also a good bus serivce in Tintagel so you have the option of leaving the car. The coast is within a 10-minute walk and the nearest beach at Bossiney Cove is just 1.3 miles away or a 25-minute walk across the fields. Within easy reach are the coastal villages of Boscastle and Port Isaac, the latter made famous by the TV series, ’Doc Martin’. Further along the coast are the golden, sandy beaches of Rock and Polzeath. Plenty of walking and local paths perfect for the family, and prime dog walking places on the doorstep of Mews Cottage. Trebarwith Strand a 10 minutes drive is a perfect beach for this, dog friendly all year round, but is also accessable via the coastal path past St Materiana’s church. Prominently looking over the village green, and within touching distance of the Skiddaw massif, this link detached property is in the perfect location to explore the north western fells of the Lake District. Located in the heart of the village, with the village farm adjacent, the property offers access onto miles of quiet footpaths and local fells including little-known routes up Skiddaw and the back of the Blencathra massif. The beautiful beck, with its resident ducks, flows through the village and provides a great place for kids and dogs to cool off on warm days. The property is also only a few miles away from the historic market towns of Keswick and Cockermouth, which can both be easily accessed by bus, and offer a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants.
Lealholme provides spacious and comfortable, single-storey accommodation, and has the added benefit of level access and wide doors. Tastefully decorated throughout, and with an enclosed garden, with double wrought iron gates, which provides parking and makes the perfect sun trap to sit and relax, perhaps whilst enjoying a purchase from the Lakes Distillery just down the road! The well-equipped, contemporary kitchen has slate tiled floors, Denby crockery, quality cutlery and utensils and an alcove, complete with a large electric range cooker. This fully central heated home from home, offers a large comfortable living/dining room with original pitch pine panelling, stone mullioned and sash windows offers a cosy and welcoming environment, complete with a wood burner. Lealholme also boasts a large walk-in shower with a Softstone base and a double shower head.
The village is situated in the north of the Lake District National Park, and is also just a short drive to Carlisle and the Scottish borders - it couldn’t be easier to explore the area. Bassenthwaite is a real community village which hosts an annual duck race, frequent pub quizzes and a vibrant, active local church arranging village fates, sports days and even Morris dancing. This beautiful cottage is just over a mile away from Bassenthwaite Lake, where fishing and sailing are available, or for nature lovers a walk up to the osprey viewpoints is well worth the effort. The property is ideally located for cyclists, with rides including the C2C and Cumbria Way routes, along with off-road trails at nearby Whinlatter Forest. However you choose to spend your stay, this is a perfect location to make the most of the Lake District. There is a dog-friendly, village pub serving food, just a short walk away, whilst Armathwaite Hall hotel and spa, Ravenstone lodge and Castle Inn all provide alternatives within 2 miles. Barton Hall Farm can be found just outside Pooley Bridge, the village at the outfall of Lake Ullswater. Set in the countryside on a traditional working farm, this area offers some of the most wonderful landscapes in the region from the privacy of a secluded rural setting. It is minutes from Lake Ullswater, with its walking, water sports and ponderous steamers making their regal-like journeys up and down the lake in the shadow of the majestic fells. This area offers many forms of recreation, whatever season you choose to visit. All three cottages have been tastefully converted from original old stone farm buildings; and wherever possible the original features have been retained. Old pitch pine beams stretch unhindered through bedrooms and across stairways and the local slate and sandstone are in evidence throughout. Guests are welcomed with fresh flowers, along with well furnished comfortable holiday accommodation, wood-burning stoves and well-equipped kitchens. For good walking, fells nearby include High Street range, 1 mile, and Helvellyn, 10 miles. The market town of Penrith, 5 miles; whilst the attractions of Keswick are 14 miles. Shops, pubs and restaurants ½ mile.

The small, rural village of Ashover is peacefully situated in the Amber Valley, just 5 miles from Matlock. The village has several good pubs, including one of the oldest pubs in the Peak District and another which offers home brewed Ashover ales. The county town of Matlock, a former spa town, offers a host of fine eating places, good shops and an interesting museum, whilst at the heart of the town, Hall Leys Park provides a lovely setting for a host of recreational activities such as bowls, tennis and boating.
Enjoy a thrilling day at Gulliver’s Kingdom, with its owl maze, water gardens, nature trails, exhilarating rides and cable car trips over the magnificent Matlock Gorge. Follow the High Peak Cycle Trail, explore the lovely market town of Bakewell, famous for the Bakewell pudding or visit the elegant Chatsworth House and Hardwick Hall where it all started for the Cavendish family. There is certainly plenty to see and do at this wonderful location.
