To the east of the town is the historic city of Plymouth, with its National Marine Aquarium, theatres, cinemas, bowling and shopping, while to the west is the sea faring town of Fowey, home to the royal sailing regatta and many galleries, both of which can be reached by ferry. The area is surrounded by mining heritage, and you can visit Geevor Tin Mine or Botallack mines featured in Poldark. Portheras Cove is ½ mile away, and Portherras Beach (a secluded and dog-friendly cove perfect for picnics and paddling) is one of the many beaches in the area. If you travel further you will come to Porthcurno beach, a stunning secluded beach and how to the famous outdoor Minack theatre, carved into the cliffs. The nearest town is St Just full of artisan shops, galleries restaurants, pubs, and cafes, for a full day out head to Lands’ End just over 10 miles away.
    Two dogs are welcome (but please keep off the furniture!) and there is a designated doggy shower outside as well as dog hairdryer.
