Enjoy a picturesque walk to Lacy’s Caves, a series of five chambers carved out of red sandstone overlooking the Eden River. And, be sure to visit Long Meg Stone Circle, which dates back to around 1500 BC. The ancient stone circle looks out to Cross Fell, the highest point in the Pennines.

    The cottage is just 10 miles away from Ullswater, Pooley Bridge, Lake District National Park, and the beautiful Aira Force Waterfall! Additionally, Keswick is just over a 30-minute drive away. The Eden Valley is an ideal base for couples, a family, or friends seeking to explore the delights of the Lake District whilst evading the hustle and bustle of the honeypot areas.

The town also has an indoor public swimming pool, gym, sports centre and golf course, 1¾ miles, if you’re felling energetic.
    A trip to this part of the world wouldn’t be complete without visiting St Bees Head and the long sandy beaches. St Bees is also the starting point of Alfred Wainwright’s Coast to Coast Walk and has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. If you’ve come on holiday for walking, climbing and to explore the Lakeland Fells, you won’t be disappointed. A 5-mile drive and you will reach the Lake District National Park where you have an abundance of walks, cycle routes, wildlife, mountains and lakes. Your nearest lake is Ennerdale Water, 6 miles, which is widely regarded as one of the most unspoilt areas of the Lake District and is teaming with wildlife, including indigenous red squirrels, osprey and buzzards. The building dates back to the 17th century when the inn was the focal point of the village. This stunning barn conversion sits in an enviable position, and offers a combination of period style with contemporary fittings and finishes. Here, ancient wooden beams, a cosy wood burner and original stonework blend comfortably with modern appliances, creating a rustic yet homely feel.

    It is named after John Keats who visited the village of Ireby on a walking holiday, and for whom the Sun Inn was a popular local haunt, making favourable comments about the area and its people in his writing. Other visitors who favoured the inn include Charles Dickens and Wilkie Collins.

    Designed to provide a stunning view over the Uldale Fells, the property is arranged with the main living accommodation on the first floor. This large open plan living space with apex beamed ceiling offers a comfortable seating area around the wood burner, and a well-equipped kitchen/dining area.
