Ash Cottage is located centrally to Buxton town centre, but far enough away that you can retreat to the quietness of the house. On the ground floor is a cosy and comfortable sitting room with a Smart TV and an electric fire, the perfect cosy space. The kitchen is fully equipped should you wish to cook anything during your stay and sit around the dining table to enjoy! The table can be folded away or pulled further out to suit your requirements. On the first floor there are two bedrooms, the first having a double bed and the second providing two singles, and on this floor, you’ll also find a shower room with a large shower cubicle. The property is modern and finished to a nice standard giving you a happy place to return to at the end of your fun-filled day. Outside there is a small rear courtyard where you can securely store bikes or let out your furry friends.
From the doorstep of Ash Cottage, you can walk to the many restaurants, bars and pubs that the town has to offer, as well as lovely cafés and independent shops. Buxton is also home to the opera house and Pavilion Gardens which often have things going on. There are many walks from the town, such as the High Peak trail and the Tissington trail, as well as Castleton and the caverns.
Head to the neighbouring towns of Bakewell, Ashbourne and Matlock, all having plenty of things to do, or delve into the history at Chatsworth House and Gardens. If you prefer something a little more thrill seeking then Alton Towers theme park is around a 45-minute drive, or Carsington Water has a large menu of water sports available, as well as a nice 8-mile walk or cycle around the reservoir spotting the wildlife. Buxton also has a train station which connects you directly to the city of Manchester where you can be within 1 hour with late trains back available.

Carsington Water is a short drive away and is a popular spot for watersports, including sailing, windsurfing and kayaking. The reservoir is also surrounded by walking and cycling trails which makes a great 8-mile route. Woodlands Barn is a bungalow offering excellent accommodation for up to four guests and one large dog or two small ones. The property is private and has an outstanding view across the village of Chinley and surrounding Peak District hills. Previously a stable, this property has undergone extensive renovations in 2023 and is light and finished to a very good standard. As you arrive at the long private drive, you will find a designated parking area for two vehicles; there is also a secure bike store and an EV charger available (at additional cost by arrangement with the owners). At the top of the driveway you will find a patio area at the front of the property with outdoor furniture and chiminea; it is the perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee whilst planning your exciting day ahead, or at the end of the day light the chiminea and enjoy a glass of your favourite wine.
Step into the bungalow and you are into the kitchen where there is a utility section offering washing machine, doggy cupboard plus an iron and ironing board. The kitchen has all the equipment and appliances you should need as well as a dining table with four chairs positioned perfectly to take in the views. The living room is comfortable with ample furniture, Smart TV, and an electric wood burner.
There is a kingsize bedroom with an en-suite shower room; this bed can be made into a twin upon request. The second bedroom is also kingsize and there is a separate family shower room. Views can be enjoyed from every room (please note that there is a signal mast on site, but this is positioned behind the property and can only be seen from the bottom of the driveway and the parking area).
Woodlands Barn is located in the village of Chinley, which has a lot to offer with two great pubs within walking distance as well as an Indian restaurant, convenience store, launderette, pharmacy, post office, fish and chip shop and two cafés. Train links take you into Sheffield or Manchester city centre, and very popular village of Edale is on this line. Locally there are some great walking or cycling routes as well so take your bikes on the train and cycle back. Immediate walks from the property is the adjacent Cracken Edge to Kinder Scout and South Head.
A short drive from the property is the Spa town of Buxton which has great shops, restaurants, Pooles Cavern and Buxton Opera House hosting shows weekly. Visit Castleton where you can explore the underground caves in a boat or visit Chatsworth House and Gardens or Lyme Park for a historic day out at these beautiful stately homes. There are ample of things to do and explore in this area making for a fun-filled Peak District holiday.

Padfield House is located in a great area for walkers and cyclists. It sits on the Pennine Trail, Longendale Trail and is also near the Pennine Way. Backing on to a wooded area and five reservoirs, this is the perfect location for your countryside getaway. In the immediate village is a local pub within walking distance. You a just a short drive from Glossop town itself which has all the necessary amenities.
