The town of Bideford is a short journey away, with a range of facilities, and a trip to Lundy Island can be organised from the quayside. Westward Ho! (3 miles) has a long stretch of sand and good surf. There is also an indoor swimming pool at Northam (2½ miles). The house is ideally located to explore either Exmoor to the east and its surrounding attractions, or to the west, there is the North Cornish/Devon coastline, with its excellent walking and hidden treasures, like Clovelly, Bucks Mill and Hartland Quay. The Big Sheep farm park, The Milky Way activity park, Dartington Crystal and RHS Rosemoor are other places of interest to visit. Exmouth, England 4.53Exmouth, Devon’s oldest seaside resort, has a busy little harbour to the west and high red cliffs with coastal paths to the east. Situated in a quiet residential area, this lovely detached holiday house offers an excellent base for a family holiday or for friends to get together. Exmouth is the place for water sports, and nearby Crealy Park is a great day out for the family. Take a ferry to Starcross and stroll to Powderham Castle. Stop off at Beer, with caves and a beach; visit Branscombe and Sidmouth with shopping and promenade; or visit Seaton, where you can take a tram ride through the countryside. Close by, there are afternoon river cruises on the Exe Estuary with views of Starcross, Powderham Castle, Topsham, Lympstone and the wildlife, or take a visit to ‘World of Country Life’.
