Villages of exceptional beauty lie on the doorstep: Beer, with its amazing pebble beach and caves, Branscombe perfect for mackerel fishing or the town of Seaton, with its historic tramway and exhibitions. Take a trip to the Donkey Sanctuary, visit the stunning gardens at Bicton, or for a great family day out, there is Crealy Adventure Park or Pecorama with it’s miniature railway. For the very adventurous, visit Haldon Hill and try zip wires through the trees at Go Ape, or take your bike and go cycling off road on the many countryside trails that there are on offer. Exeter and Newton Abbot racecourses are also close by. Horse riding, cycling and water sports are all available locally, or just sit and relax in your own castle on the hill. Beach 3 miles.     This property is a superb base for a family of four or a group of friends looking to explore the town’s pebbly beach, coastal paths and a range of restaurants, shops, and cafés. The Byes River and Margaret’s Meadow Park can be accessed directly from the back of the garden and the seafront and town centre are just a 20-minute level walk away or a 1 ½ mile drive.

    As you enter the property, head into the living room which is comfortably furnished with plenty of seating, a gas fireplace, and a Smart TV with Freeview. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything needed to prepare a home cooked meal, including an electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer and a slimline dishwasher; there is a washing machine and a tumble dryer for guests to use in a utility area in the garage.

    After a busy day exploring the area, step into the large back garden which has a lawn and outdoor seating. As the evening draws to a close, drift off to sleep within one of the two well-presented bedrooms; the first has a kingsize bed with a shower cubicle in the same room and the other has a zip and link super kingsize bed which can be set up with twin beds if requested at the time of booking. The family bathroom is fitted with a shower over the bath, sink and there is a separate toilet next door.

    Take a five-minute stroll into Sidmouth town centre to find everything you need during your stay; there are plenty of shops, restaurants, cafés, and pubs to choose from. You are within a level 15-minute walk to the picturesque and tranquil award-winning beach with its long and level esplanade, surrounded by awe inspiring cliffs that gives a very secluded feel. Take in the beautiful views of the Jurassic coastline which stretches for 95 miles and has over 185 million years of history. The town and the seafront offer a wide range of sporting activities, while quiet serenity can be enjoyed in the town’s parks and gardens. Sidmouth’s largest park, The Byes, affords a tranquil environment for a riverside stroll or cycle. Sidmouth offers a variety of interests to all visitors - young and old alike.

    Most of the surrounding countryside has been designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty or is owned by the National Trust and the nationally renowned Southwest Coastal Path can easily be accessed. Nearby, Exmouth has a two-mile sandy beach and offers excellent water sports facilities including sailing, power boating, water skiing, jet skiing, wake and paddle boarding, wind or kite surfing and canoeing. Coastal and estuary cruises operate from the dock and charter boats are available for fishing trips. From November to February, the Exe Estuary is home for some 20,000 migratory birds and the red sandstone cliffs of Orcombe Point at the eastern end of the beach are designated the gateway to the World Heritage Jurassic Coast.
    The beautiful, pebbled heathlands of East Devon with extensive walks, abundant wildlife, rare plants, and splendid panoramic views are only a few minutes’ drive from the property and the Southwest coastal path is nearby. Keen hikers should head to Dartmoor National Park with is just a 30-minute drive away and the quintessential East Devon coastal towns and villages of Budleigh Salterton, Beer, Branscombe, Sidmouth and Seaton are within easy reach.
