Fishing, canal cruises and a Jet Ski and Diving School are less than half a mile from the door. Visitors will find locally an 18-hole golf course, horse riding, clay pigeon shooting, a parachute and gliding centre, and an RSPB bird sanctuary.

With underfloor heating at ground level the holiday cottages remain cosy all year round and each one enjoys its own sitting-out area complete with garden furniture and barbecue. From Flamborough Head and the Lighthouse there are panoramic views and cliff top walks, dropping down to the sand and chalk bay of South Landing and the dramatic inlet at North Landing. Fishing and pleasure craft can be seen, as well as the local lifeboat keeping the waters safe and keep your eyes peeled for seals bobbing about on the sea. The many caves along the rocky shore were a haven for smugglers of contraband. Flamborough village has a useful assortment of shops, takeaways and pubs serving local seafood specialities and a range of cask ales. The famous RSPB nesting bird colony at Bempton Cliffs is just 2½ miles away with unrivalled views of puffins, guillemots and kittiwakes. The traditional seaside resorts of Bridlington, 5 miles, Filey, 11 miles and Scarborough, 18 miles are easily accessible. Here you’ll find a couple of friendly pubs, fish and chip shops, tea rooms and well stocked convenience stores. Take a drive to Flamborough Lighthouse and watch the seals rest at low tide. The Flamborough Heritage Coastline offers miles of walking/cycling opportunities as well as the stunning RSPB Bempton Cliffs. Danes Dyke Nature Reserve is also worth a visit. For two sandy beaches, working harbour and Victorian Promenade take a trip down the coast to Bridlington. Burton Agnes Hall, Sledmere House and gardens and Sewerby Hall and garden are close by. The historic city of York is just an hour away and there is a choice of golf courses.

Traditional seaside towns such as Bridlington, with miles of sandy beaches, and leisure facilities including a swimming pool and spa pavilion, is just 3 miles. The seaside resort of Scarborough boasts two beautiful beaches and was featured in the TV series The Royal. A leisurely stroll along the South Cliff and Esplanade affords panoramic views across to the 12th century castle ruins. Offering excellent shopping, galleries and museums and of course its very own theatre where plays by the well-known author Alan Ayckbourn can be enjoyed. Other places to visit are Peasholme Park and not forgetting the Sea Life Centre. The historic port of Whitby with its maritime connections, 25 miles, is home to the ancient abbey ruins. Further inland are the North Yorkshire Moors with many quaint little villages. Springtime demands a visit to the daffodil fields at Farndale. Flamingo Land Theme Park and Zoo offers a family day out, and the market town of Pickering is home to the steam railway where a journey through the Esk valley and on into Goathland - better known as Aidensfield in the TV series ’Heartbeat’ will not disappoint. West End Farmhouse stands proud in the peaceful village of Ulrome, close to the beautiful rugged Yorkshire Coast. This detached holiday property is excellent for families, as there is a very large garden for the children to run around in and a little Wendy house for them to play in. There is also a fantastic terraced area, which is ideal for a barbecue, and in addition, a boot room with a stairgate and storage for bikes and boots. For people who enjoy fishing, the owner provides coarse fishing free of charge (fishing licence required) for the fishing pond, which is just along the lane. In 15 minutes, guests can walk from the property down through the village lanes to the beach. It provides an excellent base for those wishing to explore the east coast of Yorkshire and what it has to offer. Close by, visit the famous RSPB Bempton Cliffs, where you can observe puffins and gannets in their natural habitat. There are some fantastic walks and cycle rides along the rugged cliffs of the east coast, some of it being part of the Cleveland Way. Just 8 miles down the coast, visit the hustle and bustle of the traditional seaside resort of Bridlington. With its working fishing port, you can see the catch brought in on the quayside. There is also a large sandy beach and rock pools for the kids to go crabbing. The famous Spa theatre also provides excellent entertainment throughout the year. Guests can take a short land train journey to Sewerby Hall and Gardens, just one of the many stately homes in the area. Burton Agnes and Sledmere are also worth a visit and for those who would like a trip out; you have the fantastic medieval city of York, which is just over an hour away. Tickton Hall is a 110-acre private country estate nestled at the end of a tree-lined drive just outside the historical market town of Beverley. The estate has wonderful, established woodlands and parklands with grazing horses in abundance, which you can see from many of the cottages’ windows. It is also home to the Beverley Polo Club with two polo pitches, a fabulous full-size arena and stabling for up to 60 horses. You just might be able to catch a polo match during your stay! You can even bring your horse on holiday with you, subject to availability at our Horse Hotel! These delightful, detached holiday properties (refs UKC458 and W44279) provide tastefully furnished bases from which to explore the area, or simply sit back and relax.
There are superb walks straight from the cottage doors. Within the estate you can walk around the picturesque horse exercise course or the cross-country course, all within a couple of minutes of the cottages. Or if you are looking for a longer hike, the estate links to designated walks along the river bank that extend for miles.
Beverley, 4 miles, is well known for its racecourse, minster and many boutiques and excellent coffee shops. The coast at Hornsea can be reached within 10 miles, with traditional amusements and promenade, and a wildlife centre at Hornsea Mere. York, a great place for a day out, is about an hour’s drive, and The Deep at Hull, one of the UK’s biggest aquariums, is about half an hour away. Beach 10 miles.
