The magnificent gardens of Kiftsgate Court and Hidcote Manor - with its lovely views over the Vale of Evesham - are not to be missed, as well as many other National Trust properties in the locality; Stratford-upon-Avon (approximately 8 miles), shops, restaurants and pubs, 200 yards.

For charging devices you will also find USB ports throughout the barn, so no need to panic if you forget your chargers! Why not take some time to chill upon a pew in the glass atrium, whilst basking in the sunlight. The glass walkway also leads to the boudoir quarter. West End Farm Lodge Alabaster is a detached lodge that has been built in 2023, situated on the owner’s 14-acre working farm. Set within the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with fabulous far-reaching views of the rolling countryside. All ground floor accommodation with open plan living space with a well-equipped kitchen – perfect for cooking up a storm whilst all socialising together. There are two bedrooms, both with en-suite shower rooms. One of the bedrooms has a zip and link bed so can be converted to twin beds if needed. Outside there is decking area with seating and enclosed lawned area – perfect for your four legged friends. There is an outdoor washing area for bikes and dogs, and use of a utility room with washing machine. Dog sitting is available with prior arrangement and paid directly to the owner.
Whether it’s a gentle stroll, relaxing and unwinding, or energetic pursuits you crave, you will be sure to find it all here. Riding, golfing, canoeing, fishing, kayaking and climbing are all available in the surrounding areas. Cycling is very popular in the Forest of Dean, with dedicated tracks and trails to suit all abilities. Rich in wildlife and nature, it has many picnic sites to soak up this atmospheric area. Local attractions include Puzzlewood, Go Ape high wire adventure course, the steam railway, Little Dean Jail and Dean Heritage Centre. Clearwell Caves and Tintern Abbey are also very popular. Chepstow, with its racecourse and cliff top castle, also has many bars, restaurants and independent shops. Monmouth and Ross-on-Wye are also within easy driving distance and have some fantastic historic castles to visit. Exploring this region at any time of year is a rewarding experience, each season throwing a different light on the changing scene. Heritage attractions include Sudeley Castle, 7 miles. The Forest of Dean is 23 miles. Bath, Oxford and Stratford-upon-Avon are all within one hour by car. Fern Bank Cottage sits in the Forest of Dean with direct access to cycle routes and beautiful walks from the front door. Our cottage is an ideal place to explore this fabulous area.

The cottage is full of home-from-home comforts including a large kitchen leading into a spacious living room with a wood burner, Smart TV and bi-fold doors leading to a large, decked area with garden furniture. At the front of the cottage, you will find the snug, a cosy second sitting room with plenty of games and books to enjoy. Upstairs there are three large bedrooms, with the master having an en-suite shower room and a family-sized bathroom.

The local areas have fascinating history and heritage and cycling enthusiasts will find plenty of cycle trails. Bike hire is only 1 mile from the cottage. There are also two fantastic pubs within walking distance. Nearby our guests can enjoy Symonds Yat Rock, Puzzlewood, Clearwell Caves, Stand up paddle boarding, canoeing, Go Ape and many more activities. There is good fishing, RSPB reserves, riding, golf and tennis. The market towns of Ross-on-Wye, Chepstow and Monmouth are within easy driving distance from Fern Bank Cottage as we are just 5 miles from the beautiful Wye Valley.

Flyby Cottage Is situated in English Bicknor in the Forest of Dean, being an ideal property for friends or family looking to explore this beautiful part of England. The property comprises an open plan dining area and kitchen with a Freeview TV. There’s also a utility room with a washing machine. The ground floor includes a bathroom with bath and electric shower over, as well as a living room with Freeview TV. To the first floor you’ll find a twin room and a double room, as well as a separate toilet. Step outside into the large, enclosed garden with a lawn, and inviting patio area with garden furniture – perfect for letting your four-legged friends out to roam. There’s also off road parking on the drive available for two vehicles.

There is good fishing, RSPB reserves, riding, golf, tennis and excellent walking and cycling opportunities locally. Rivendell is a detached bungalow with incredible views over the Severn Estuary. The property consists of a well-equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, and an open plan living/dining area with Freeview TV, and a cosy open fire. There is also a family bathroom and three bedrooms, comprising a single bedroom, a twin bedroom, and a master double bedroom. Outside you will find an enclosed garden with a lawn, flower beds, seating areas, and a summerhouse. Access to a lower lawn with an orchard is down steps or a sloping grass path. A handrail is provided for use as necessary.
Walks can be had directly from the garden out into the forest. The Forest of Dean is bordered by the Wye Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and the River Severn. In this compact area, there are outdoor activities in abundance including horse riding, golf, fishing, mountain biking trails from easy to extreme, canoeing, kayaking, and rock climbing. Wonderful walks with stunning scenery await you within the forest and the Wye Valley and every season has a beauty of its own. There are numerous fun places to visit with attractions such as Go Ape, Puzzlewood, Mountain Biking routes from Easy to Extreme at Pedal-Bike-Away, and a separate Family Trail, The Wye Valley for Water Sports and Rock Climbing, Clearwell Caves, and the Beechenhurst Sculpture Trail. All about 10-20 minutes away. Chepstow and Goodrich Castles and Tintern Abbey are interesting historical sites for all ages. Blakeney village is just a few minutes away by car and walkable in about 10 minutes. Amenities include a post office/newsagents, general store, pub, fish and chip shop, church, bus stop, and surgery.

Wotton-under-Edge sits right on the famous Cotswolds Way. This friendly village has a plethora of traditional cottages, with a village high street that includes independent shops including crafts and country boutiques, as well as a cinema, allow yourself some extra time when meandering as the shopkeepers love to stop and chat. You will also find all the essentials too, such as green grocers for picking up your organic produce, a butchers for some fine local produce for cooking up a hearty meal for all. Why not take a trip to the family run Winner Hill Vineyard, to pick up a sparkling white to accompany your dinner. It is said by many that it’s just as good as some of the best French bottles. You can even make an afternoon of it and partake in some tasting for a fun day out. A little further beyond, you will find Tetbury is 10 miles away, and Bath and Bristol are both 20 miles. Badminton is 5 miles and Berkeley Castle, Wildfowl Trust at Slimbridge and Westonbirt Arboretum all within easy distance. Golf can also be found nearby. Beach 21 miles.
