A 40-minute drive leads to the Heritage North Norfolk coast, ‘Admiral Nelson’s country’, where there are Blue Flag sandy beaches, extensive salt marshes, RSPB reserves and the coastal path for excellent walking. Boat trips are available all year to visit the basking seals and Blakeney Point nature reserve. Nearby, the stately homes of Holkham and Blickling are amongst the finest in East Anglia. The Royal Sandringham Estate and museum is open to the public when the Royals are not in residence.
The coastal resorts of Cromer and Sheringham offer an array of attractions for all ages, a cliff-top golf course, plenty of shops and restaurants. Still operational, the fishing harbour operates a small fleet of boats to catch succulent fresh lobsters and crabs, which are brought back to be sold locally. Promenade gardens, pier with seasonal live entertainment and the Royal Life Boat Centre can all be found at Cromer. Sheringham is headquarters for the North Norfolk Steam Railway, where during the summer trains travel back and forth along the coast to neighbouring villages. Shop 800 yards.

It is also in a great location for exploring the Norfolk Broads and Great Yarmouth with its traditional seaside attractions. Strolling along its cobbled streets, you’ll find that St Ives is home to a host of curiosity shops and galleries. The area is famous for its beautiful golden stretches, such as the award-winning beach at Carbis Bay, Porthminster and the rolling sand dunes at Hayle. Nearby, Tehidy Country Park boasts over 25 acres of woodland, cycle trails and bridle paths to explore. St Michael’s Mount (Karrek Loos yn Koos in Cornish, meaning ‘hoar rock in woodland’) is a must-see attraction during your stay. It is set in rural farming countryside on Higher Poulston Farm just on the outskirts of the vibrant town of Totnes, nestling on the River Dart. Away from the farm there are many interesting places to explore. For your local shopping, Harbertonford, 1 mile, has a small village shop and post office. Also, the village of Moreleigh, 1 mile, has a highly rated pub serving good traditional food. The ancient town of Totnes, just 3 miles away, has a range of quirky independent shops and bistros and is a vibrant and interesting place to visit, especially on Fridays when the market comes to town.
The South Devon coastline is close at hand, has many beautiful beaches and coves, scenic walks and pretty villages including Blackpool Sands and Slapton. Enjoy a day out in the beautiful riverside marine town of Dartmouth and take a cruise along the river to Totnes or the ferry across to Kingswear, and the quaint fishing town of Brixham, then ride on the steam train to Paignton or Buckfastleigh. Within easy reach are the English Riviera resorts of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham, the boating and sailing centre of Salcombe on the estuary and the historic town of Dartmouth, nestling on the banks of the River Dart. Woodlands Fun Park is a great tourist attraction and fun day out for families, as is Dartmoor National Park, with its hundreds of acres of wild rugged moorland, both about 4 miles away. Close to Dartmouth you can also play golf on an 18-hole championship course.

The moment you walk into this rustic style timber lodge you’ll feel a sense of warmth and homeliness. The open plan living/dining/kitchen area is comfortable and has all the mod cons you need with cooker, dishwasher, microwave, and large TV, but chances are you won’t be spending time watching TV or Netflix, you’ll more than likely be trying to spot the red squirrels and deer that often roam around the grounds. There are two bedrooms, a master with a double bed and dressing table and the second has twin beds. The lodge is completed by a family bathroom with a shower. In the shed outside there are also a washer and dryer in case of those muddy fun days. The lodge is located in a park where all properties are privately owned and so has a real non-commercial feel. Guests are offered access to a small swimming pool and mixed sauna at certain times of the year, but the location of the park is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts with some superb walks at the edge of the park.

Neaum Crag at Skelwith Bridge is conveniently located between Coniston and Ambleside, two of the most popular locations in the Lakes. Ambleside boasts a wide selection of independent shops, pubs, restaurants and not one, but two cinemas. Waterhead Pier runs ferries which can be taken to Bowness and Lakeside pier near Newby Bridge, Wray Castle, and Brockhole Visitor Centre. Motor and rowing boats are available if you wish to take to the water. National Trust owned Stagshaw Gardens, offers eight acres of fine gardens with a wide variety of plants, trees and shrubs, and for more impressive natural features there is Stock Ghyll Force, a spectacular 70-foot waterfall which may be viewed safely from a railed viewpoint. Coniston is a few minutes’ drive in the other direction and as well as the town with its shops and pubs, there is Coniston water, which is popular for activities such as canoes, paddle boards and open water swimming.
