Fresh for the Summer Season of 2021, Poppy’s by the Sea is located in Hayling Island on a private road, moments from the beach. A detached four-bedroom holiday home, able to comfortably accommodate up to eight guests it’s also dog friendly too. The beaches of this popular isle are surrounded by sheltered waters across from the Isle of Wight, making it ideal for water sports activities. It is renowned for its windsurfing and sailing activities, kayaking, power boating, jet ski-ing, kite surfing and wake boarding. Local paddle-boating and windsurfing lessons are available close by. Every year there is a national windsurfing event, and a hive of sailing and nautical activity can be seen along the coastline.
Many activities can be enjoyed locally for all ages, including a seaside railway, fun fair and West Beachlands, great for sandcastles at low tide! Free play includes beach volleyball and adventure play areas. For the sports enthusiast, Seacourt is also worth a visit, with five racket sports. Other nearby activities include golf, horse riding, boat trips and scenic walks along the water’s edge, or walks along the South Downs National Park which is within easy reach. Chichester, with its beautiful cathedral, festival theatre, pedestrianised shopping, leisure centre, Roman villa, and Goodwood or Fontwell races, is definitely worthy of a visit.
Visit Portsmouth, with its waterside dining, ferry trips to the Isle of Wight, designer outlets, Natural History Museum, leisure facilities, Spinnaker Tower, and HMS Victory, or explore the maritime history of Southampton. Winchester, with its cathedral, abbey, and The New Forest, are within easy driving distance. There are plenty of National Trust houses and gardens to also be discovered.

Little Barn is detached, and Chiddock Cottage, Chidley Cottage and Cozy Cottage adjoin one another in a L-shape.
All the barn conversions have high vaulted ceilings and plentiful beams with spacious open-plan living areas. All have rustic concrete floors with rugs and are furnished using natural woods of differing origins. Outside, there is a decked area for each property, a shared enclosed courtyard with raised planting beds where vegetables, herbs and fruit grow, and a fire pit, an outdoor pizza oven and barbeque. There is also a play area for children and freshly laid eggs daily from the on-site chickens! For guests who may wish to bring a horse, the owners offer livery available by prior arrangement.
Discover scenic walks from the door, Midgham Farm Copse lies at the end of a track within 40 acres of woodland along the Avon Valley path, which leads all the way from Christchurch to Salisbury. For those that like the outdoor lifestyle there is on-site archery, axe throwing and fishing in the River Avon (licence required). Nearby there is horse riding, and the New Forest Water Park. For those bringing dogs, there are plenty of excellent walks all around.
Places to visit include Alderholt Mill, which has a working watermill open to visitors, and Moors Valley Country Park and Forest, which has orienteering, cycle hire, golf, forest Segway, and more. Avon Heath Country Park, within easy driving distance, is ideal for keen ramblers. Fordingbridge and Ringwood both have a host of shops, cafés and eateries, and are nearby. These barn conversions are convenient for road links to the cathedral cities of Winchester and Salisbury, Christchurch Harbour and the coast, including Sandbanks, Poole and Bournemouth. Lantern Cottage is a delightful, welcoming, end-of-terrace period cottage, which is beautifully presented and dog friendly for one medium-sized dog. It has been refurbished in 2021 and is located within a 7-minute level walk of Lyndhurst village and the beautiful open forest. Ideal for a family or couples for a romantic or active break together. On the ground floor you’ll find a cosy living room with a TV and a wood burner to snuggle up in front of, a dining room and a galley kitchen, along with a bathroom; whilst upstairs are the two bedrooms. There are a number thoughtful personal touches on display in the property including a wine bottle honesty rack, help yourself to a bottle on the house but please replace any more before you leave. There are two enclosed gardens with furniture to sit in and enjoy the sun after a day’s activities.
Lyndhurst is a wonderful village with a superb array of amenities. Often referred to as the ‘Capital of the New Forest’ it offers a variety of outdoor pursuits and places of interest with the open forest easily accessible for walking and riding. The village boasts an eclectic range of cafés, restaurants, two supermarkets and bakeries. Bike hire is also available (electric too of you fancy an easier ride). There are two mainline railway stations: Ashurst within 2½ miles and Brockenhurst just shy of 4 miles with direct links to London Waterloo.

The village car park has electric charging points for visitors with EVs.There is much to do in The New Forest with attractions for all ages, including Paulton’s Park with Peppa Pig World just a short drive away. Beaulieu Motor Museum, the riverside village of Bucklers Hard and many picturesque villages are also close by just waiting to be discovered. Shops, pubs, and restaurants are just a short walk away and there are several beaches about 15 minutes’ drive away. The sailing town of Lymington is about a 10-minute drive, with regular ferries to the Isle of Wight, which makes for a great day out. If you fancy leaving your car on the drive, the bus stop is situated very near the property for trips into the seaside or Southampton.
