Quabbs Head Cottage, before it was renovated, extended and restored, was an isolated ‘two up, two down’ country cottage. It is unknown when exactly it was built, but it is shown on the 1840 Herefordshire Tithe Map, and it seems to have been built originally in the 14th or 15th century. It is located approximately half a mile from the nearest property, with views to open country, and beneath ancient deciduous woodland, in the heart of what is now the Netherley Hall Estate. It is shown on the 1840 Tithe Map as ‘Quabhead Cottage’. Quabb’s Head means literally the ‘the head of the bog’. The original gable wall has been lovingly restored, and the extensions have been built, with oak from ancient estate woodland. On the ground floor, you’ll find two beautifully appointed bedrooms, each designed to offer a restful night’s sleep. These bedrooms are perfect for grandparents or older family members who may prefer to have their accommodations on the ground level, providing convenience and easy access to the main living areas. The deluxe bathroom on the ground floor includes a walk-in shower. The open-plan kitchen and living room on the ground floor create a communal space where everyone can gather, share meals, and create lasting memories. The dining room, with its ample seating for eight, provides the perfect setting for family dinners and celebrations.
The upper floor offers a master bedroom with a kingsize bed and a luxurious en-suite shower room. With independent shops to visit and lively town crier events throughout the year, this town offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere to all visitors. The river Frome is nearby for those who like to enjoy canoeing and similar activities. Brockhampton Estate, Shortwood Farm, the Black and White Trail, Ledbury town with its timber framed buildings and historic 17th century market hall, and the city of Hereford with its cathedral and Mappa Mundi, are all a short drive away and wonderful places to visit.

With Ross, Forest of Dean 5 miles, Gloucester 12 miles, it is an ideal holiday base for exploring this beautiful area, with its variety of places to visit, activities and scenery. Newport is nearby. Swimming, golf, fishing, pony trekking and mountain biking are all available in the near vicinity. Ledbury, Monmouth, Malvern, Chepstow, and the cathedral city of Hereford with the renowned Mappa Mundi, are all within easy driving distance. Local cider makers and museums such as the Museum of Mazes are within easy reach, as well as Symonds Yat with butterfly museum and adventure playground, ideal for children. The cottages are within 15 minutes’ drive of Malvern and have panoramic views of the wooded hills and unspoilt countryside; the location is ideal for nature enthusiasts, with an abundance of wildlife to observe as well as unrivalled birdwatching.

Three of the cottages are detached, whilst the fourth one is semi-detached, and the English oak timber used to restore their interiors was felled and machined from the extensive woodland on the estate itself. The furnishings and fittings for all the cottages have been supplied by local businesses, and during restoration, the owners have paid great attention to detail.
Parkers (ref RAAP) was originally built in 1610 and is a detached, listed building lovingly restored to the very highest standard and has several items of antique furniture. Parkers Lodge (ref RAAQ) is a smaller two-bedroomed detached cottage completed in 2006 and fitted out to a very high standard, whilst Brook House (ref RAAR) is a detached, listed building dating from around 1670 and emanates a marvellous ambience. It has landscaped gardens and a terrace with outstanding views overlooking Mathon Brook. The Bothy (ref UK12100) is semi-detached and was renovated in 2019. It has a kitchen/dining room, and through the archway there is a comfortable living room with French doors opening out to a beautiful garden area, with views over the farmland and farm animals.
