This delightful period farmhouse, one of a pair, nestles peacefully in the Hamstead Heritage Coast, which is rich in wildlife and birds. Nestled in a stunning conservation area, the holiday property is a short walk to the historic Newtown Creek, and set in woodlands, it offers direct access onto walk ways. The farmhouse was originally farm cottages to Hamstead Grange and parts of the property are believed to date back to Tudor times, when the grange was owned by the Monks of Quarr Abbey on the island.
Seashore and cliff walks can be found along the coastal paths and outdoor pursuits are well catered for including horse riding, fishing, cycling, paragliding, watersports and golf. There are numerous attractions to discover for all ages on this beautiful sunny island. The Needles landmark attraction is a must see and is a short distance away to the west, with its chairlift, amusement park, boat rides, lighthouse and the coloured sands of Alum Bay. Why not pay a visit to Queen Victoria’s favourite holiday residence, Osborne House and its gardens, perhaps Blackgang Chine which is the oldest themed attraction in the UK, Ventnor Botanical Gardens, Tapnell Farm Park, Carisbrooke Castle or the world renowned sailing town of Cowes. These three holiday properties, adjacent to the owner’s home and farm, are set with others in a courtyard and share use of various grassed areas and 2 tennis courts. Chilton Farm is situated ¼ mile from the coast, set in beautiful countryside, and forms part of the Chilton Farm Estate. Brighstone has chocolate box cottages, National Trust museum, several places to eat, shop and a post office. There are scenic coastal and country walks as well as cycling routes such as the Tennyson Trail. Discover towering cliffs, farmland, woodland and river valleys, all linked by a 500-mile network of footpaths. The cottages are within easy reach of Freshwater Bay, Shanklin Chine, Godshill, St Catherine’s Lighthouse, The Needles, Alum Bay, Carisbrooke Castle, Calbourne Mill and Blackgang Chine. Sailing, watersports, golf, fishing and horse riding are all available locally. A spacious, detached house furnished to a good standard, with some sea views from upstairs. Situated in a quiet residential area, just a few minutes’ walk from sandy Seagrove Bay. At low tide you can walk miles along the sands in either direction to unspoilt Priory Bay or to Puckpool Park for cycling and play area. Seaview village is ½ mile away with excellent pubs and food, right on the seafront. There are many attractions on the island to suit the whole family, including Carisbrooke Castle and Ventnor Botanic Gardens. Visit Osborne House and gardens, once the summer time home of Queen Victoria, now open to the public during the summer season. The nearby town of Ryde offers something for everyone including bowling alley, ice rink and indoor swimming pool, as well as many shops, pubs and restaurants. The picturesque maritime town of Cowes, the yachting centre of the world offers a shopping area, museums and historic buildings, and car ferries from Portsmouth to Fishbourne or Lymington to Yarmouth offer alternative days out. Sandown is well known for its seaside entertainment, including a zoo (where Tiger Island is filmed), amusement arcades, and outdoor fun such as putting, trampolines, crazy golf, as well as a leisure centre with indoor pool and various pubs and restaurants along the seafront. Scenic walks can be enjoyed along cliff-top paths, and much of the coastline is designated Heritage status. Also for the outdoor enthusiast, try watersports, golf, riding, fishing, hang-gliding, sailing or birdwatching. There are many hidden coves dotted around the island, or why not enjoy a cream tea at one of the various tea rooms located in the historic villages of Godshill, Old Shanklin or Brighstone. Visit the famous Needles, or head over to the Botanical Gardens which contain rare plants from all over the world! There is also an exceptional restaurant where you can sample the fresh ingredients grown straight from the gardens, delicious!

Serena is a spacious, detached property with off-road parking for up to four vehicles at the front and a large enclosed rear garden. It is offers two living rooms, one on each floor, one bathroom, two shower rooms and three good-sized bedrooms all with laminate flooring throughout, being able to accommodate up to seven guests in total, as well as up to four dogs. The position of Captain’s Cottage couldn’t be better, it is right in the heart of this beautiful seaside resort, with shops, bars, and restaurants on your doorstep. It’s only a 10-minute stroll to the wonderful sandy beaches too. Shanklin is one of the most popular seaside resorts on the island, home to the Old Village and Shanklin Chine. The seafront is packed with amusements, activities, and crazy golf courses. Within a moment’s walk of Captain’s Cottage is the bus station, which has great links to anywhere on the island and there is also an open-top bus in the summer season, great for sight seeing. At the end of the road, there is also a train station, which stops at several coastal towns. Osborne House was once Queen Victoria’s favourite residence and is open to the public and well worth a visit, as are Carisbrook Castle, The Needles rock formations, Robin Hill park with acres of parkland, natural woodland, countryside gardens, adventures, and special events, Ventnor Botanical Gardens and Shanklin Chine, a deep wooded gorge with streams and waterfalls.
