Antique hunting can be enjoyed at Horncastle 18 miles away, and Louth offers a lovely traditional market town. Skegness and Ingoldmells with its seaside attractions, is just 2 miles. The traditional holiday resort of Skegness is well known for its sandy beaches, seal sanctuary, Gibraltor Point Nature Reserve and fun fair. There are two excellent 18-hole links golf courses nearby at North Shore and Seacroft, with fishing lakes throughout the area one of which is just ½ mile away. The region offers good walking and cycle routes, with the Lincolnshire Wolds and the market towns of Louth and Alford nearby. Horncastle, best known for its numerous antique shops, is about 25 minutes’ drive. Shop and pub serving food 1 mile.

These three holiday cottages (UK40757, UK40758 and UK40759) are all part of the former Papist Hall, built in the late 1600’s and one of the oldest buildings in the village of Barrow upon Humber.
The newly renovated cottages offer a delightful mix of period features and modern amenities finished to a high standard. The enclosed gardens feature numerous relaxing seating areas, impressive stonework arches and planters, BBQ and a delightful range of planting featuring mature trees and vibrant flowers. A welcome pack featuring quality local produce is ready waiting for visitors to sample.
Papist Hall cottages are ideal for a relaxing break or as a touring base for north-east Lincolnshire, the coastline or even heading north into east Yorkshire and Hull, just 25 minutes away. The small village of Barrow upon Humber has range of shops and amenities as well as pubs serving food all within walking distance. Barrow upon Humber’s most famous son is John Harrison, inventor of the marine chronometer which allowed sailors to calculate longitude at sea, greatly improving safety at sea and saving many lives.
Visit Hull, 25 minutes away, the Yorkshire Wolds, 35 minutes, or even travel to Beverley, 30 minutes away, and York, about an hour away. The city of Lincoln is 50 minutes’ drive and is famous for its castle, cathedral, vibrant Brayford Wharf and excellent shopping. Shop, pub, restaurant ½ mile.
Please note that Papist Hall is a 350 year old building and as such is not accessible for those with mobility issues. There are steep steps and some uneven surfaces throughout the buildings and garden.

Head Brewers House (formerly known as Merrilodge), the former home of George Bateman and family as well as the Head Brewer’s house. This lovely family house has a swimming pool in the large garden with an entertaining area to the side, perfect for al fresco dining. Spacious accommodation awaits you with two large living rooms. Refurbished in 2021 to provide holiday accommodation, this is one of five properties available at the Brewery to enjoy. As well as its own large lawned garden and swimming pool guests can also enjoy the large shared garden adjacent to the Brewery Windmill which runs alongside the River Steeping where you can also fish from the bank. Gibraltar Point National Nature Reserve is within walking distance and is well known for its unspoilt coastline that runs southwards from the edge of Skegness to the mouth of the Wash. The impressive views along with the sheer scale and diversity of wildlife makes it well worth visiting at all times of the year. There is also a visitor centre and café for refreshment.
Skegness is a fantastic traditional seaside resort and has something for all the family to enjoy from its funfair, amusements, aquarium and award winning sandy beaches to its range of restaurants, bars and nightlife. Watching the Banger racing is sure to make for a fun family day out and in the summer you can enjoy a donkey ride along the beach. An 18-hole links golf course is also within a mile.
Alternatively head inland to the rolling Lincolnshire Wolds, an Area of Natural Beauty, and explore the market towns of Louth, Market Rasen and Horncastle. Enjoy the motor racing at Cadwell Park, the horse racing at Market Rasen or even a day out in the City of Lincoln, famous for its Cathedral and Castle. These two wonderful semi-detached holiday properties enjoy an enviable seaside location close to the beach and the North Shore Golf Course. Telford Lodge (UK31418) comfortably accommodates up to 6 guests across three bedrooms and features an external cabin with board games. The traditional resort of Skegness offers lots of entertainment for all the family, with a sandy beach nearby to play on or for long family walks with the dog.
