May Cottage is a tastefully renovated cottage on one level in a rural location with contemporary furnishings throughout and a sunny rear garden. Rendham’s traditional village pub, serving local beers and good food, is just steps from the self-catering cottage and the historic village church is across the road. This semi-detached cottage with patio garden is well laid out with the dining room at the heart and the kitchen leading off of it to one side and the living room to the other with a hatch between the two. There are two bedrooms, one with a super king zip and link bed with a separate shower room and the other bedroom with a kingsized bed and an en-suite bathroom.
Ideal for couples and small families wanting to explore the Suffolk Coastal “Area of Natural Beauty”, Rendham is within easy reach of the picturesque seaside towns of Aldeburgh and Orford, and the market town of Framlingham. There are two local pubs; one within a stone’s throw of the cottage, the other a 9 minute walk up the road. Shops: Saxmundham 2½ miles, Framlingham 5 miles. Beach 10 miles.

The Nest is a beautiful, self-contained one-bedroom cottage situated next to the main farmhouse. It can sleep up to three adults or two adults with two children. It’s the perfect location for those wishing to explore the local area and is ideal for those interested in walking and wildlife. The living room is a former conservatory with a cosy roof and has underfloor heating to ensure comfort all year round. The living room has a double sofa bed, TV and dining table. You’ll also find a selection of games and toys to keep you entertained, and books and maps to help you whilst exploring the area. The small but perfectly formed kitchen has everything you need, with a full oven, gas hob, microwave and fridge. You’ll find some of the basics such as cooking oil, salt, pepper etc already in the cupboards. The bedroom features a super kingsize bed, reading lights, built-in wardrobes with a full-length mirror and French doors opening up onto the private garden. It’s a bright and airy room, but once you’ve drawn the curtains and dimmed the lights it’s the ideal place to cosy up with a good book. Just off the bedroom is a large shower room, with a walk-in shower, twin vanity units and toilet. The garden has a seating area, with gas BBQ and a chimnea with views out across the farm fields allowing you to listen to the birdsong.
We’ve made sure you don’t need to pack too heavily, with games, toys for the kids, DVDs, books, picnic blanket, flask, Tupperware, children’s cups, plates and cutlery all provided. We can even lend camping chairs, beach shelters and buckets and spades if needed. Don’t worry we haven’t forgotten your four-legged friend, there’s bowls, blankets, poo bags and a little treat ready for their arrival too.
Located in the heart of Suffolk Coast’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, The Nest is the perfect retreat for those wishing to explore the area. Situated discreetly off a private farm track, well away from the busy roads and directly on the Sandlings Walk, it’s ideal for walkers, cyclists and birdwatchers. The Nest is just 1½ miles from Aldeburgh town, which has an array of pubs, cafés, shops and plenty of other facilities. The nearest pubs are in Knodishall and Aldringham, only a 5-minute drive away or can be reached via country footpaths.
Popular places such as Thorpeness, Southwold, Minsmere Nature Reserve, Orford, Woodbridge and Framlingham are all within a 35-minute drive. One (two smaller dogs considered), well-behaved dog is permitted during your stay. Dogs must be kept under control at all times and be cleaned up after. Entering the cottage there are low ceilings stepping down to the kitchen and up the stairs. Stepping up into the lounge from the kitchen, the lounge boasts a wood burning stove, perfect to snuggle alongside during the cooler evenings. Outside is a lovely garden with seating area perfect for barbecue and al fresco dining. Situated in a peaceful village location with a great village pub a few minutes’ walk away. A perfect location to take a moment and recharge, but still having a wealth of activities and attractions to explore on the doorstep. Within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with unspoilt countryside rich with wildlife and the unique market town of Beccles just a mile away or approximately 28 minutes walking distance. The local area offers plenty of great walking and cycling opportunities from the doorstep, where you have miles of tracks to explore, so be sure to bring your binoculars as it’s a great place to view the abundance of wildlife and offers great fishing opportunities. Just 400 yards from the cottage onto Marsh Lane is a footpath where you can walk alongside the river. The village of Gillingham sits on the Norfolk and Suffolk border, located in the Broads National Park where the River Waveney runs through. Beccles town offers independent boutiques and chain shops, a great collection of eateries including fine dining and many cafés serving home made cakes and savouries. The weekly market is excellent for all things local should you wish to enjoy a night of cooking and dining in. The Broads National Park is very popular, best enjoyed on the waterways with kayaks, canoes and day boat motor launches for a more leisurely pace. Alternatively sit back and enjoy a guided boat tour, where you can just soak up the incredible national park. Don’t forget to enjoy a swim at the local Lido open air heated swimming pool, popular with many local swimmers. Norwich (18 miles) a bustling cathedral city with culture, heritage, excellent shopping and entertainment for all. Watch the weekly speed boat racing (in season) on Oulton Broad, 9 miles. Suffolk Heritage Coastline, famous Southwold for the pier, lighthouse, beach and fresh seafood eateries, 15 miles, and Walberswick RSPB reserve, 14 miles. Golf course within 1½ miles. The Yellow Cottage on the Hill is a late Georgian property. Formerly a shop, it has been sympathetically renovated to provide a light relaxing space with an eclectic mixture of modern, mid-century, and antique furniture.

There are many excellent networks of walks and cycle routes meandering through the pretty Suffolk villages, both country and coastal. The National Trust owned Sutton Hoo is only a 20-minute drive away, and the nearby Dunwich Heath is within 25 minutes. A 25-minute drive away is the port of Felixstowe and its beaches with the passenger foot and bike ferry leaving from Landguard Fort to historic Harwich and Shotley. Suffolk boasts many country estates for visiting, including Helmingham Hall, Crows Hall and Hevingham Hall. Nearby is Snape Maltings, known for being Benjamin Britten’s concert hall, and only 30 minutes’ car drive is the seaside town of Aldeburgh. Also worth a visit is Sutton Hoo, Woodbridge, and the RSPB Nature Reserve at Minsmere.
In addition, approximately 35 minutes away is the coastal town of Southwold and the village of Walberswick. The Latitude Festival is 30 minutes’ car drive away and is held annually at Henham Park, while the Constable Country villages of Dedham and East Bergholt are about 35 minutes’ drive. The towns of Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich and Colchester are all within easy reach for a great day out. Close by you can visit Framlingham Castle - the famous ‘Castle on the Hill’, Shawsgate Vineyard, Bruisyard and Helmingham Hall, along with Easton Farm Park. The coast is a short drive away, a stretch of Heritage Coastline where cycling, hiking and simply taking in the views is the perfect way to slow down and relax. Beach 14 miles. The second floor features two twin rooms (one with a trundle bed), a further super kingsize bedroom (with a trundle bed), a bunk room, and a bathroom. Outside and you’ll find an enclosed garden with large patio area where you can relax.
A perfect location to sit and enjoy the seafront location or use it as an excellent base for exploring. You are a short walk away from lots of restaurants, pubs and shops, with easy access to the Norfolk Broads National Park. Lowestoft has some fantastic beaches, and the Suffolk Heritage coast is full of pretty villages such as Southwold, Dunwich and Aldeburgh. The surrounding area provides plenty of opportunities for scenic walks, cycling, and wildlife observation, perfect for nature enthusiasts. An abundance of breathtaking beaches are close by. If you would like to venture further afield, the railway station is close by with the train to Norwich only taking 38 minutes (or a 45 – 50-minute drive). Here you will find plenty of culture, heritage and history along with excellent shopping, restaurant and pubs. Other local and popular attractions include Oulton Broad, Somerleyton Gardens, Africa Alive, Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park, Lowestoft Harbour and South Pier.

A delightful, tastefully decorated cottage within walking distance of the beach, shops, restaurants, and pubs on the unique Mersea Island where you can enjoy kayaking, paddle boarding, and sailing. The jetty is a great place for crabbing and boat tours are available.
Mersea gets cut off for about an hour when there is a very high tide, usually once a month, so it’s worthwhile checking the tides, all adding to the uniqueness and charm. It is a beautiful island with lots of coastal and nature walks, seafood restaurants with the famous Mersea oysters, delis, takeaways, supermarkets, and child-friendly pubs with craft beer. Why not visit Mersea Island vineyard and brewery, where a beer festival is held at Easter and you can buy real ale, wines, and even Mersea Island gin?
The Mersea Regatta, which has been running since 1838, is held every August and should not be missed. There is a variety of rowing races, an outboard motor balloon race, a swimming race, and ‘walking The Greasy Pole’, and ends in a firework display in the evening.
If you can tear yourself away from this peaceful beautiful island, then the historic town of Colchester is a 20-minute drive with shops, restaurants, a castle, and a museum. Castle Park offers something for all ages with a play park, bouncy castle, crazy golf, boating lake, and bandstand. Why not watch a game of cricket at the Essex Cricket Ground adjacent to the park? Colchester United football ground also hosts concerts and shows all year round, and the park has concerts in the summer. Colchester Zoo is a great day out and home to over 160 species, set in 60 acres of parkland and lakes.
Dedham Vale, known as Constable Country and a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is a 35-minute drive with beautiful walks and activities for all ages. If the children are wanting amusements and rides, a 40-minute drive takes you to the East Coast where you will find Walton-on-the Naze, Clacton, and Frinton. All in all, this is the perfect location for an enjoyable holiday.

There are plenty of attractions for all ages to enjoy; Oulton Broad is a short drive away, the southern gateway to the Norfolk Broads National Park, also popular with speed boat racing during the summer. Lowestoft has two piers, classic arcade games, a shopping centre and eateries. The traditional seaside resort of Great Yarmouth offers the Pleasure Beach, beach fronting with amusements, donkey rides, pitch and putt, fun fairs, pier, promenade and much more. Pleasurewood Hills theme park also offers a fun day out.
Venture further afield and you can explore the Suffolk Heritage Coastline and country parks, and The Broads National Park offers miles of inland waterways, best explored with day boat hire and plenty of waterside eateries to refuel and enjoy. Pub within a mile.
