The Fox House house is set in an ideal location to explore the delightful National Park, with many scenic walking trails to choose from, as well as the stunning Yorkshire coastline being only a short 10-minute drive away from the inspirational coastal village of Staithes. Easington is a peaceful village with a friendly local pub serving hearty home-cooked meals.
The property has a drive at the front for off-road parking, as well as an enclosed lawned garden at the rear, making it ideal for young children as well as dogs. This is a welcoming and cosy home from home. On the ground floor is an open plan kitchen and dining room. This wood-topped country-style kitchen is well-equipped and ready for you to create all your favourite meals, with both a dishwasher and a washing machine this is an ideal choice for longer stays as well as short breaks as you can make yourself at home.
The living room has a leather three-piece suite where you can unwind in comfort in the evening in front of the electric fire with your feet up; glass double doors open up to the garden, complete with a patio, outdoor seating and a BBQ ideal for those sunny days. For those who love the coast, there are some wonderful beaches nearby to discover. Saltburn is a surfers’ paradise and has an iconic pier as well as some trendy bars and restaurants. Staithes has undeniable charm; this village huddles around the shoreline, with little fishing boats sailing out from the harbour. Runswick Bay is gorgeous, with sweeping golden sand, perfect for a scenic stroll while taking in the fresh sea breeze. Whitby is just a 30-minute drive away, a seafaring town with a fascinating history and an abbey overlooking the cobbled streets lined with independent shops and quirky cafés for you to explore, this place really has it all! You can also purchase a fishing permit for the local mere, or explore the nearby woodland. In Scarborough there are two bays. North Bay Beach sweeps in a crescent lined with colourful beach huts with the Sea Life Centre at the far end. You can walk from the North Bay all the way along the promenade to the busier South Bay. At the south bay you have all the fun of a traditional seaside holiday with arcades as well as many cafés, restaurants, bars and shops to visit. Both bays have lovely, large sandy beaches. There is also Scarborough Castle which stands on the cliff top between the two bays, as well as the casino and the funfair on the seafront.
Peasholm Park is wonderful to discover, you can hire pedalos and rowing boats to go around the lake and see the stunning oriental gardens. Scarborough is famous for its theatres. There is an outdoor theatre which stages concerts by some of music’s big names, and then there is the Stephen Joseph Theatre which is famous for the premieres of Alan Ayckbourn’s plays. The Alpamare waterpark is great for all ages, with its fantastic wave pool and waterslides, as well as a large heated outdoor infinity pool. Keep younger children entertained with the ’splash and play’ area. For adults there is a spa where you can relax and be pampered. The heated outdoor pools are warm enough to enjoy through all of the seasons. Further along the coast you also have Ravenscar, Whitby, Robin Hood’s Bay and Bridlington to discover. Starting with Skinningrove with a peaceful beautiful beach, which is great for fossil hunting; further along the coast is gorgeous Runswick Bay, picturesque Staithes, the surfers’ paradise of Saltburn and the historic seafaring town of Whitby with its long golden beach stretching to Sandsend. For walkers there are walking trails across the national park, including the Cleveland Way along the cliff tops, or Roseberry Topping which offers stunning panoramic views. If you are fascinated by history visit Guisborough Priory and Whitby Abbey, as well as museums including Staithes Heritage Museum, Whitby’s Captain Cook Museum and Hutton le Holes Folk Museum. On the moors there are many pretty rural villages to visit, or why not enjoy a trip on the steam train from Whitby to take in the scenery. For the adventurous there are water sports including white water rafting, sailing and paddle boarding at Tees Barrage and Scaling Dam, as well as surf schools in Saltburn, Sandsend and Whitby. Whitby is famous for its links to Dracula, and the Gothic abbey and graveyard tower 199 steps above the town. The climb is worth the effort just to take in the fantastic views of the town and out to sea. Many events and festivals take place all year round such as the Goth Weekender, Folk Week, Whitby Regatta, Steampunk festivals and many music events. There are plenty of traditional pubs to complement the wine bars, as well as many different bistros and restaurants to choose from, not forgetting award-winning fish and chips. There is a 3 mile stretch of golden sand complete with ice cream parlours and arcades to enjoy, and a long pier to walk down.

If you want to get off the beaten track there are many coves and bays dotted along the North Yorkshire and Cleveland Heritage Coast to explore. Hidden gems such as Runswick Bay and Boggle Hole along with the more famous such as Robin Hood’s Bay and Staithes are worth a visit. There are many local walks in the area including the Cleveland Way route, and the Cinder Track across the viaduct which heads down to Robin Hood’s Bay.

Head inland into the North York Moors National Park for stunning scenery and fabulous views. Local bus, car, bike or even a journey on a traditional steam train are other ways to get out and see what the area has to offer. The Victorian seaside town of Scarborough is just down the coast with its two huge bays; North Bay for a quiet stroll watching the waves, or South Bay for amusement arcades, a fairground and a harbour. The Open Air Theatre plays host to many international artists throughout the summer months, and Peasholm Park hosts its Model Naval War on a regular basis. There are a number of golf courses, cycling tracks and country or beach walks in the local area. If history is your thing, there are many abbeys and historic places of interest throughout North Yorkshire including the Eden War Museum in Malton. The walled city of York is just an hour’s drive away.

Wildlife enthusiasts can enjoy a whale watching cruise, searching for seals, dolphins, and whales, which frequent the shores especially in September. Or travel further south along the coast to Bempton Cliffs where thousands of seabirds nest annually at the RSPB site.
The coastline here is fabulous with the neighbouring villages of Robin Hood’s Bay, Runswick, Staithes and Sandsend all perfect for a scenic day out all year round. Some visitors love soaking up the sun, whilst others are enthralled on a stormy day watching the waves. Be sure to visit the North York National Park, where a plethora of scenic walks through wooded valleys await, taking the steam train from Whitby gives you a wonderful tour of some of the prettiest villages on the moors.
