    Ironstone Cottage is in a peaceful village served by a little local shop, with the rolling heather clad moors just at the end of the road. These stone terraced cottages were built for the miners back in 1860. You can visit the nearby mining museum to find out more about the history, as this area was at the heart of the steel industry back in the 1800s. The name Ironstone Cottage was chosen to honour the history of the area, the owner’s father was employed to care for the pit ponies from the age of 11. Now the biggest draw to the area is tourism as guests explore the national park and the nearby beaches. There are a host of wonderful walks and cycle trails to explore, this is the perfect base for those who enjoy nature.
    Just a short drive away you have Saltburn, Staithes and Runswick Bay leading down to the incredibly popular coastal town of Whitby, all ideal for a day of discovery. On the moors there are some stunning beauty spots such as Roseberry Topping as well as quaint rural villages with some great pubs, perfect as a reward after a day of walking.
    There on street parking available by the cottage. At the back of the property you have an enclosed garden with a lawn and sitting out area, which is great for unwinding on a sunny evening, enjoying a bottle of wine. Inside the cottage is carefully furnished to create a comfortable and welcoming holiday home. The well equipped kitchen/dining area, is where you can reminisce over the day’s events over a delicious home cooked meal. The living room is separate and cosy, with sofas nestled around the TV. There is one unexpected surprise on the ground floor, an incredible whirlpool bath, which has bubbles, massage jets and lights. Upstairs you have a choice of three bedrooms, a double, a twin and a master king bedroom with an en-suite shower room. The North Yorkshire Moors is a fabulous and varied destination to explore, you can take a ride on the steam train which runs from the coast to visit many pretty rural villages, including Goathland which was the set for the popular TV show Heartbeat, as well as the Hogsmeade station in Harry Potter. The owner has taken great care in providing a fantastic holiday home for families to enjoy. The large open plan living and kitchen area has floor to ceiling patio doors taking advantage of the magnificent sea views and leading out onto a decked seating area and lawn. There’s a cosy dual sided wood burner separating the kitchen and the living/dining area. The kitchen has all the mod-cons expected of a house of this standard as well as a utility area. There are gardens to the front and the rear which are completely enclosed. For guests taking their four-legged friends, a dog crate is also provided.
    A 2-minute walk and you are on a stunning vast beach that stretches for over 3 miles to Filey and beyond. It’s a beach that never looks busy as it’s so wide and has lots of space for everybody. Great for the children or walking the dogs, or watching the horse riders galloping through the waves in the early morning. There is an excellent café that serves the beach guests and provides meals and drinks as well as ice creams. Filey is a very traditional seaside resort, not quite as busy as its neighbour Scarborough however it has a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants. Filey is also the end of the Cleveland Way walk so you can enjoy a walk along the cliff tops to Scarborough following part of this very famous 109 mile trail. The seaside resorts of Scarborough and Bridlington are just a short drive away. Both resorts are very popular holiday destinations and worth a visit during your stay.
    The RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton Cliffs is just a short drive where you can see the puffins and other migrating birds from the viewing points on the cliff tops. Yorkshire is famous for its stately homes and Sewerby Hall, Burton Agnes Hall, Sledmere House and the wonderful Castle Howard are just a short drive. Sea Haven is not far from the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Wolds made famous by the artist David Hockney, who often paints the rolling hills of the Wolds. Beach 70 yards.     The open plan living space on the first floor features a brand new, fully fitted kitchen with Bosch appliances, as well as a dining area and living area. Here you will also find the piano used by previous owners to rehearse with the local choir. Outside, the garden has been beautifully landscaped to create two sitting areas at either side of the house so you can follow the sun all day. There is a garage, perfect for storing your bikes.
    The pièce de résistance is the original well, which has been uncovered and fitted with lights so you can see 100 feet down to the bottom at night, a truly unique feature. The pretty village of Starbotton is in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, with a cluster of stone built, chocolate box cottages surrounding the friendly local pub, a mere 2 minutes’ walk away. The Fox and Hounds is the heart of the local community, offering high quality, hearty dining, with well-kept local ales in a relaxed, dog friendly atmosphere. The area is ideally located for exploring by car, walking and cycling.
    There are many walks right from your very doorstep including the Dales Way, accessed by a connecting footpath leading down to the River Wharfe, which is just 300 yards away. The area is also a mecca for cyclists with the Tour De Yorkshire route having run through locally. Other country pursuits such as fishing, rock climbing and even pony trekking are all available nearby. The popular town of Grassington is just a 15-minute drive away and plays host to events all year round including a Summer Arts Festival with famed singers, presenters, poets and authors, and a winter Dickensian Festival to capture the spirit of Christmas.
