There are many established public footpaths to enjoy which lead directly through Carlton-in-Coverdale and carry on through many local villages including West Scrafton, Horseshoe and Gammersgill to name only a few. The village Pub, ‘The Forester’s Arms’, has an excellent reputation, and there are also numerous pubs that provide a handy stop off during a day’s walk. A little further afield, but still only four miles away, guests will be able to visit the historic village of Middleham. Once the home of Richard III, Middleham is steeped in history and has some great attractions to visit. Nestled between two rivers, the magnificent castle of Middleham has the largest castle keep in the north of England and a Royal heritage that once earned it the title of the Windsor of the North. Horse racing fans really must take a trip too as the village is famous for its rich horse racing history and is home to many of the top stables in the country. The market town of Leyburn is also just five miles away and offers guests the chance to browse around the weekly farmers market offering local produce and arts and crafts. There are plenty also plenty of tea shops, restaurants and cafes, so make sure you plan a whole day in Leyburn. Perfect for families of all ages guests will surely want to visit the Chocolate Museum in Leyburn and also the fun attraction of The Forbidden Corner which is only a short drive away. A little further afield, but still within an easy hours drive, guests will be able to take a day trip to York, Ripon, Harrogate, Richmond or the cathedral city of Durham.

    Beech Cottage is warm and welcoming and offers comfortable accommodation throughout. The lounge is small and cosy and has an open fire and original features. There is a separate dining room and kitchen with good quality fixtures and fittings. On the first floor guests will find a single bedroom, double bedroom and twin bedroom which all offer great views and are very well presented throughout. The family bathroom is on the first floor and offers a shower over bath and heated towel rail. The WC is separate to the bathroom. There are gardens to the front and rear of the property and guests can relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of the location whilst listening to the nearby stream that runs to the rear and side of the cottage.
