Step back in time and walk the quaint narrow passages, as Captain James Cook himself must have done. Here in Staithes there are village shops, pubs, cafés and a restaurant, and in 2020 the village was featured on the BBC programme ’Gone Christmas Fishing’ with Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer. Why not travel on Harry Potter’s Hogwarts Express (the North Yorkshire Moors Railway) through ’Heartbeat’ country, or visit Whitby and its famous abbey which is 11 miles away.

Privately situated in the grounds of the owners’ home, each one has its own south facing patio where visitors can relax and watch the pet sheep, hens and Shetland ponies as they graze in the adjoining paddock in this peaceful village close to the River Derwent. The historic city of York, famous for its cobbled streets, magnificent minster, museums, restaurants and traditional inns, is easily accessible with the Grimston park and ride just a 10 minute drive away. Close by are the Yorkshire Wolds, which inspired the renowned paintings of David Hockney and the Howardian Hills, excellent for walking and cycling. The coastal resorts of Bridlington, Scarborough and Whitby and the North York Moors are all within an hour’s drive. Eldin Hall Cottages are set in a peaceful area and have been added more recently to the restored old Victorian waterworks. The four cottages have their own enclosed decked patios with garden furniture, and The Gatehouse has its own enclosed private lawned garden. There is also a shared garden with a fantastic play area for the children. The owners, who just 10 minutes away, will be there to greet guests whenever possible, and are available any time to provide information and assistance when it is required.
Situated between Cayton and Cayton Bay, the cottages are an ideal base to visit the east coast, North York Moors and the Yorkshire Wolds. The beach at Cayton Bay is less than a mile away (2 miles by road) and just a little further up the coast is the popular seaside town of Scarborough. The resorts of Filey, Flamborough Head and Bridlington are just a short drive away. The walks along the clifftops are spectacular and form part of the Cleveland Way walk. The RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton Cliffs attracts visitors from worldwide and is just a short drive from the cottages. Here you can see puffins, kittiwakes and lots of other migrating seabirds. Not to be missed during your stay (as it’s always voted as one of the top ten cities to visit) is the wonderful city of York which is less than an hour away by car, or the train is direct from Scarborough. The cottages have an open, shared lawn to the front of the properties, and a well-equipped games room and children’s play area. Filey is a traditional Edwardian seaside town. A perfect place for an active holiday or just to relax. The five mile stretch of sandy beach is protected by the rocky grandeur of Filey Brigg. Surfing, fishing, yachting, golf, walking and bird watching are just a few of the available activities. The Evron Centre provides plentiful entertainment with music, song, dance and theatre on offer. Filey has many restaurants and hostelries providing superb cuisine. Should you wish to travel further afield you will find that Yorkshire glories in one of the finest stretches of coastline in Britain, golden beaches, rocky coves and towering cliffs. Further to the north is Whitby, a picturesque fishing port and inspiration for Bram Stoker’s Dracula. The North York Moors National Park and the Yorkshire Moors Railway, 18 miles of preserved railway are both close by, as is Flamingo Land. Shops 3 miles, pub 1 mile.

Set on a little terrace of only four cottages which back onto the River Esk, with gated access to the stepping stones, Esk Cottage dates back to the 1850s and offers a character property in a tranquil location for a relaxing holiday escape.

Egton Bridge is one of the prettiest villages in the North York Moors National Park and is a perfect location for exploring both the North York Moors and the Heritage Coast of Yorkshire ,with the ancient sea port of Whitby just 8 miles and quaint fishing villages of Staithes, Runswick Bay and Robin Hoods Bay just a short drive. Egton Bridge has two pubs, both providing dining, whilst one has recently opened a farmshop in its grounds.

Situated in one of the most picturesque villages in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, with majestic views of Malham Cove from the rear, this cosy, Grade II listed, semi-detached cottage has been lovingly restored to a very good standard. Exposed beams, stone walls and a woodburner add to its character and make this an ideal place for getaway holidays throughout the year. Walks can be enjoyed across the fields and fells of Malhamdale, with access to the Pennine Way close by, and amid the spectacular scenery of the National Park all around. Malham is a traditional Dales village with a stream running through the centre, offering the choice of two pubs, teashops and the National Park Centre. Shop 2.5 miles, pub and restaurant 250 yards.

Tucked away in the peaceful village of Middleton this little cottage dates back to the 1750’s, where it was once a tiny farmhouse with its own small allotment that they used for animals and crops. This quaint hideaway still retains many of its original charm, with beamed ceilings and lots of character. With the benefit of your own designated off-road parking bay. Please note that the drive is narrow and may not be suitable for large vehicles. A footpath follows you through the courtyard with a table for two. There is also a bike shed with suitable storage adjacent to the parking area with a seating area too.

Stepping inside you will find the adorable country kitchen, which is compact yet has everything required to create delicious home-made meals to delight your loved one. The kitchen is open plan with the dining area, with a table perfect for two. The living is separate, with a sofa and armchair around the small but mighty “hobbit” stove, that ensures you are snug and toasty after a busy day exploring. Wooden stairs lead you up from the living room to the first floor landing, where you have a beautifully presented kingsize bedroom, with a large wardrobe for all of your belongings.

This is the ideal destination for those who love the great outdoors, with incredible scenic views in the National Park to soak up. There are wonderful woodland walks through Dalby forest nearby, as well as many scenic bays along the coast only a 40 minutes’ drive away. Middleton itself is a small village just on the edge of the market town of Pickering. In Middleton you have a popular pub serving hearty meals, as well as a small tearoom and a local shop. Neighbouring Pickering has a medieval castle as well as a steam train which winds its way from Pickering over the rolling heather, through valleys and hill all the way to Whitby on the coast.

The North York Moors is a haven for walkers with many trails to explore and an abundance of wildlife. Nearby you have Malton, the food capital of Yorkshire, with a market, award-winning restaurants, and a cookery school. Castle Howard is one of Britain’s finest stately homes, sure to fill you with awe. There are also the beaches of Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington, with historical Whitby and whimsical Robin Hoods Bay all ideal for a day out to treasure.
