These stone terraced cottages were built for the miners back in 1860. You can visit the nearby mining museum to find out more about the history, as this area was at the heart of the steel industry back in the 1800s. The name Ironstone Cottage was chosen to honour the history of the area, the owner’s father was employed to care for the pit ponies from the age of 11. Now the biggest draw to the area is tourism as guests explore the national park and the nearby beaches. There are a host of wonderful walks and cycle trails to explore, this is the perfect base for those who enjoy nature.
Just a short drive away you have Saltburn, Staithes and Runswick Bay leading down to the incredibly popular coastal town of Whitby, all ideal for a day of discovery. Whitby is famous for its links to Dracula, and the Gothic abbey and graveyard tower 199 steps above the town. The climb is worth the effort just to take in the fantastic views of the town and out to sea. Many events and festivals take place all year round such as the Goth Weekender, Folk Week, Whitby Regatta, Steampunk festivals and many music events. There are plenty of traditional pubs to complement the wine bars, as well as many different bistros and restaurants to choose from, not forgetting award-winning fish and chips. There is a 3 mile stretch of golden sand complete with ice cream parlours and arcades to enjoy, and a long pier to walk down.

You are ideally positioned with Scarborough’s many attractions surrounding you. The communal staircase leads you up to the first floor where you step inside the apartment. The living area is open plan, with large sash windows bathing the room in light. Here you have the well-equipped kitchen, as well as the dining table and two sofas around the Smart TV. There is a selection of DVDs as well as board games ready for cosy nights in together. There are two bedrooms, the master double bedroom, which is very spacious, as well as a bunk bedded room sleeping up to three guests with a double bed on the bottom tier with a single on top. Down on the lower ground floor, you have the beautiful modern kitchen, complete with everything you could wish for when creating all of your favourite meals, as well as a breakfast bar. You also have the walk-in shower on this level. Up on the first floor, you have the master bedroom which is a luxurious, spacious room enjoying elevated views over the harbour where you can watch the world pass by. Up on the second floor, you have a quirky triple bedroom, to access the third bed you will need to duck under the eaves with a lowered bed tucked away beside a window, again with those fabulous views out across the harbour and beyond the piers out to sea.

Robin Hood’s Bay is a must and is within walking distance of Dale View, taking less than twenty minutes to walk into the heart of this fascinating village. Famous for its winding, cobbled streets, tiny fisherman’s cottages, old stories of smuggling and secret underground tunnels, and along the Yorkshire Jurassic coast, spectacular scars, rockpools and fossils. Further along the coast is Whitby, known for its magnificent gothic abbey and Dracula. Further north is Sandsend, Staithes, and Runswick Bay. To the south you will find Scarborough, Flamborough Head, and the Dalby Forest. This is a wonderful destination which draws visitors from around the UK to enjoy the incredible scenery and to discover the fascinating history which makes this area so unique.

You are only a 5-eminute walk away from the nearest beach, with a wide assortment of quirky independent shops, as well as cafés, restaurants and pubs all within easy reach and many being dog friendly. In the harbour there is the HMS Endeavour, a replica of Captain Cook’s ship which was built and sailed from Whitby on his voyages of discovery.
