This comfortably furnished holiday lodge is one of four other similar lodges on-site and enjoys a peaceful, rural setting on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. A small, private woodland site is shared amongst the other properties which are all located close to the River Ure in Wensleydale. The small market town of Masham is just 3 miles away with tea shops, a good choice of inns, excellent restaurants, shops, Theakston’s Brewery and a quaint cobbled square, which plays host to weekly markets and speciality markets including the annual Sheep Fair every September.

There is wonderful walking directly from the lodge site into the beautiful scenery of the Wensleydale countryside, with medieval abbeys, castles and waterfalls. Lightwater Valley Theme Park, Forbidden Corner (a garden of surprises), the market town of Leyburn, Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Gardens, and Ripon with its dominating cathedral, are all within 10 miles. The elegant spa town of Harrogate is 20 miles, famous for Betty’s Tea Room, and the historic, walled city of York with its museums, is 35 miles. For sporting enthusiasts there are many activities nearby including golf, cycle hire, riding, fishing and sailing. Shop 3 miles, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.

Dogs are welcome at Arthur’s Place and The Bay offers a meadow that is dog friendly, a short walk will also bring you to the beach. On site you can also find a coffee shop, pharmacy and the John Paul Jones family pub and restaurant. The Bay also boast a leisure complex which includes an indoor heated swimming pool, sauna, steam room and gym. During the summer months visitors can enjoy other activities including a putting green, archery, and tennis courts (additional charges may apply).
Take a walk along the beach and find yourselves in the pretty seaside town of Filey, where you can explore quaint streets lined with tea rooms, restaurants, and traditional amusements. Filey Bird Garden and Animal Park will also provide fun for the whole family. A little further afield is the delightful village of Flamborough with its working lighthouse. A visit here would not be complete without a walk along to cliffs of Flamborough Headland Heritage Coast. If golf is your thing, then book a round at the Bridlington Links Golf Course. Inland from Arthur’s Place are the unspoilt rolling hills of the Yorkshire Wolds and the Yorkshire market towns of Malton and Pickering.

This historic, Grade II listed farm has been owned by the Hawnby Estate for many years and still retains many original features, giving this property real character. Built in the late 18th century, this detached property is steeped in history, which you will feel as you explore the spacious rooms possessing far reaching views over scenery which has changed very little over the centuries. Starting with Skinningrove with a peaceful beautiful beach, which is great for fossil hunting; further along the coast is gorgeous Runswick Bay, picturesque Staithes, the surfers’ paradise of Saltburn and the historic seafaring town of Whitby with its long golden beach stretching to Sandsend. For walkers there are walking trails across the national park, including the Cleveland Way along the cliff tops, or Roseberry Topping which offers stunning panoramic views. If you are fascinated by history visit Guisborough Priory and Whitby Abbey, as well as museums including Staithes Heritage Museum, Whitby’s Captain Cook Museum and Hutton le Holes Folk Museum. On the moors there are many pretty rural villages to visit, or why not enjoy a trip on the steam train from Whitby to take in the scenery. For the adventurous there are water sports including white water rafting, sailing and paddle boarding at Tees Barrage and Scaling Dam, as well as surf schools in Saltburn, Sandsend and Whitby. The Alpamare waterpark is great for all ages, with its fantastic wave pool and waterslides, as well as a large heated outdoor infinity pool. Keep younger children entertained with the ’splash and play’ area. For adults there is a spa where you can relax and be pampered. The heated outdoor pools are warm enough to enjoy through all of the seasons. Further along the coast you also have Ravenscar, Whitby, Robin Hood’s Bay and Bridlington to discover. Set within the delightful little village of Wighill, which has its excellent pub and is located just outside York, one of the most visited cities outside London. You have quick access to the independent shops, café, pubs, restaurants, and the many tourist attractions York has to offer. Other towns and cities close by are the fashionable spa town of Harrogate and the bustling city of Leeds. Brook Hall is also on the doorstep of the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors National Parks, both full of bike trails and beautiful scenic walks. Brook Hall is also very well positioned for both York and Wetherby racecourses, so why not have a day at the races? If you and the family fancied a day at the beach, the wonderful east coast can be found in just over one hour. Hot tub hire is available but guests would need to arrange this with the owner before their arrival.
