Crooklands Cottage is a short distance from Austwick, one of the prettiest villages in the Dales, with a church, post office and convenience store, and a pub and hotel, both serving great food. Situated midway between Settle and Ingleton and a short distance to Clapham, you’ll come to the historic village of Kirkby Lonsdale about 10 miles down the road and Skipton is only less than 20 miles in the other direction.

A luxury barn conversion makes a great base to visit the Yorkshire coast, North York Moors National Park, Dolby Forest, the Yorkshire Wolds, Cleveland Way and nearby popular Market Towns. For those of you who enjoy bird watching there’s the RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton Cliffs where you can view thousands of migrating seabirds from the cliff top viewing points. The cyclists amongst you can enjoy some of the routes from the Tour de Yorkshire, as well as the wonderful Dalby Forest, home to miles and miles of mountain bike tracks. With over 8,000 acres of woodland pathways there’s plenty of woodland walks to enjoy, as well as the Cleveland Way. Yorkshire is famous for its market towns, Pickering, Malton, Beverley and Driffield are all a short drive from Aysgarth Lodge. In the village you will find a supermarket, post office, traditional pub, bistro pub, fish and chip shop and a church 100-400 yards. There is a garden centre. 10-15 minute flat walk which has a lovely café. Supermarket and fast food outlets within a 5 minute drive, all in the same place. You are just a short stroll away from Scagglethorpe’s warm and welcoming village pub, the true heart of the village. There is also a nearby play park for young children. There is a wide choice of places to visit nearby, with something for everyone. For history buffs Eden Camp is just 5-minutes away, a prisoner of war camp now transformed into a fascinating World War II museum. The stately home of Castle Howard is a short drive from the cottage, holding events throughout the year including the summer proms. Spend a day exploring the house and before sampling some of the cakes on offer from one of the tea rooms. The Christmas experience is also one of the very best in the country. Thornton-le-Dale is a picture perfect little village built around a little stream, ideal for a memorable day out. Less than 10 miles away is Pickering, nestled on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, where you can ride the heritage steam train across the beautiful moorland to the coastal town of Whitby. The ancient walled city of York with its beautiful minster and award winning-attractions is only a 30-minute drive away, while 30 minutes to the east takes you to beautiful Filey beach and its fabulous coastline.
