    The exterior has changed very little over the years and appears to be a modest barn, yet when you step inside the interior is inspiring, innovative and sure to delight. This renovation has been a unique project taking many years to complete, with carefully sourced antiques as well as modern furnishings collaborating to create something really special. Each room becomes a talking point with upcycled vintage pieces having a whole new lease of life. The entrance hallway has beautiful handcrafted stairs, with wooden panelling made from the barn’s original reclaimed floorboards. Step through into the bespoke kitchen; this spacious room has its own island and is exceptionally well equipped. The adjoining living room is open plan with the dining area, with a wood burner to add to the charm. Glass doors open out from the living area giving you fabulous views out onto your paddock of wild flowers. The ground floor is complete with a toilet just off the entrance hallway, which has also been decorated beautifully. Upstairs are three incredible bedrooms, all with their own character and stylish flare. The first zip and link kingsize bedroom is a fun burst of colour, with its own en-suite shower room, whereas the master bedroom, with superking bed, is more muted with its own en suite bathroom which is the most delicious emerald green and gold. The third bedroom also has a kingsize zip and link bed, which can be made up as twin beds on request, under a beamed ceiling. There is also a family bathroom on this floor with both a freestanding bath as well as a shower. Take time to take in all of the careful attention to detail, such as the original wooden shutters on the windows.
    West Ayton is a pretty village in the North York Moors National Park, with a couple of pubs serving meals as well as the convenience of a shop and garage. There are many beautiful places to visit for a day out nearby including the picture perfect village of Thornton-le-Dale, with little cafés, a chocolatier and a bakery beside a little stream, as well as the ancient market town of Pickering where you can board the North York Moors steam train. There is a host of wonderful walking trails to discover, including many at Dalby Forest which is beautiful throughout all the seasons and has a tree top zip wire trail for the more adventurous.
    In around a 15-minute drive you can be at the coast, walking along the long golden stretch of sand in Scarborough, with the historic seafaring town of Whitby nearby. Whitby boasts a fascinating history, with tales of Captain Cook, smugglers, Vikings and even Dracula, ideal for a day out to remember. You also have Robin Hood’s Bay, Filey and Bempton Cliffs with glorious coastal scenery to soak up. With golf, fishing and horse riding locally there is something in the area for everyone.
