Horse riding is available on the cusp of the village and there’s an impressive golf course on the links very close by. The picture postcard village of Bamburgh, protected by its dramatic fortress, is only 3 miles north with its wide expanse of golden, and often empty, sandy beaches and where the tidal island of Lindisfarne, locally known as Holy Island and the birth place of Christianity, can be viewed. Just a couple of miles down the coastline is Beadnell Bay, its glorious sandy beach is popular with water-sports enthusiasts.
    The market town of Alnwick, with its own castle offers many facilities a few miles inland.
