Tucked away in a peaceful and secluded village setting, these five comfortably furnished holiday cottages are set in an idyllic location, only 5 miles from the spectacular Bamburgh Castle and one of the longest sandy beaches in England, and within a few minutes’ drive of Seahouses, where regular boat trips depart for the Farne Islands. Between the Cheviots and the sea, there is easy touring through the beautiful countryside with its numerous castles, stately homes and NT properties. Furnished to a high standard, and close to the owners’ home, Fordson offers single-storey accommodation and Ferguson is a detached two-storey cottage. The Mill House stands as a detached converted barn, with Waren View and The Granary Cottage forming an adjoining pair. This is an ideal choice for family holidays, with use of a very pleasant lawned area by a stream. There is also shared use of the owners’ hard tennis court nearby.
Warenford Village serves as an excellent base from which to discover Northumberland and the Scottish border country. Just 4 miles distant lies Budle Bay, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, as well as an SSSI, with the ancient walled town of Berwick-upon-Tweed (15 miles) and the Duchess of Northumberland’s ornamental gardens a short drive away. Created to rival the best in Europe, the gardens are contemporary in design and include waterfalls and cascading plumes set within landscaped grounds with themed planted areas. Also sure to delight both young and old alike is a visit to neighbouring Alnwick Castle, which served as the location for the Harry Potter films. Home of the Percy family, it stands as the second largest inhabited castle in England after Windsor Castle, with some of its rooms open to the public and displaying a wealth of decorative and fine art.
Within easy reach, too, is Holy Island – renowned for its medieval religious heritage, priory and picturesque castle – and also known by its Anglo-Saxon name of Lindisfarne. Accessed by a paved causeway at low tide, the island is popular with bird-watchers and nature lovers, with the north-western portion of the island being maintained as a nature reserve, where terns, plovers and seals can be observed. Whilst on the island, a trip to The Museum of Island Life will reveal former living and working conditions there, and St Aidan’s Winery tempts visitors with its sweet concoction of local Lindisfarne Mead.
There are quiet country lanes for cycling and several excellent golf courses nearby, as well as a selection of shops in Belford (3 miles) and good inns and restaurants in which to enjoy a family meal locally – the nearest pub with restaurant being just 30 yards.

Newcastle upon Tyne, EnglandLocated close to Whitley Bay and Tynemouth with stunning beaches, bars and restaurants, this absolutely charming detached bungalow offers a mix of tasteful decor to provide a lovely base for up to six people. With a cosy wood burner and pretty rear enclosed garden, the cottage is set on the owners award-winning arable and beef farm. With chickens, horses and some pet sheep, children and, of course adults are welcome to visit the animals once the owner has explained the workings of the farm. A real bonus is the quirky little shepherds hut to the side of the cottage which is perfect for sitting in and watching the sunsets, chilled with a book or glass of wine, it’s a lovely extra. The owners have given attention to detail to provide the comforts in this homely property, which is all on one level. The two gardens for relaxing are lovely if you want to stay in or a bonus to come back to after a day out exploring where you can admire some countryside views. Most of the windows have views of either animals, countryside or the garden.
There are ample supermarkets, local shops, and restaurants all within a few minutes drive and the Metro is easily reached for exploring further afield. Within a few minutes are plenty of village pubs and only a little further you have Tynemouth with award-winning beaches and Whitley Bay, both with lovely promenades and cafés. There really is something for everyone in and around the location no matter what your age, the whole of Northumberland is easily reached from here. Warkworth, EnglandWarwick House is a lovely stone-built property in the small friendly village of Felton. This lovely house has been completely refurbished in 2021 with a lovely wood burner in the contemporary living room for cosying up for nights in on a cooler evening. This three-bedroom house with a lovely deep bath and large shower cubicle even has a small private sitting area to the rear which catches the sun, lovely for relaxing after a day out exploring. Only a very short walk is a popular village pub serving lovely food and an award-winning café so you can leave your car at the door and relax for an evening. Felton is located midway between Alnwick and Morpeth both lovely little towns with Alnwick the home to the Duke of Northumberland who lives in the famous castle featured in Downton Abbey and Harry Potter, with cobbled streets to explore and plenty of shops and tearooms it is a lovely day out. The village is easily accessed from the main A1 and Burgham Park Golf course is only 3 miles. Nearby the Heritage Coast AONB has golden sands and unspoilt beaches for you to explore all peppered with castles, ruins, and friendly little villages. The Friendliest Port - Amble is a bustling fishing town and working port situated just one mile south of Warkworth Village, on the Coastal Route through Northumberland. Amble is one of the few places on the Northumberland coast where you have no need to get in the car, everything is on your doorstep. With a good range of small, mostly independent shops, including a great little artisan bakery, excellent butchers, local seafood bought straight from the harbour, a superb Italian and an Indian restaurant, award-winning seafood restaurants and one of the best traditional fish and chip shops in the North East on the quayside, it’s a fascinating little fishing port. Within five minutes you can walk to Little Shore Beach with its row of pretty pastel coloured beach huts that you can rent from the Harbour Master for a round £20.00 per day. Two minute’ s walk from Number 8 will take you to The Braid which is a grass area ideal for walking dogs which runs adjacent to Amble Marina and continues along the footpath past Coquet Yacht Club towards the village of Warkworth with its impressive castle. There’s a local Sunday market held every week on the old quayside, which is lovely to wander around as well as a little ‘Harbour Village’ with tiny boutique-style independent shops operating out of pods resembling old fishermens’ huts.
The views from the quayside are spectacular – of the estuary, impressive Warkworth Castle, Coquet Island and of course the beautiful sea, and the walk along the harbour front to the interesting Marina is just lovely – follow it with lunch or dinner in one of the super little eateries on the quayside.
