All have their own charm and character and boasts an array of independent shops, restaurants, pubs, cafés and tourist attractions including Birdland, Model Village, Cotswold Brewing Company and Cotswold Farm Park. Kingham is 5 miles and every August hosts the renowned ‘Big Feastival’, a three day food orientated event. Slightly further afield, you will find Cheltenham with its famous race course, Shakespeare’s Stratford-upon-Avon, the historic university city of Oxford and Bicester, with it’s large designer outlet shopping village and Blenhiem Palace. Wind your way down the garden path to the entrance of Patience Cottage. Step through the entrance lobby and you are greeted by an open plan living/dining room brimming with character from the exposed stonework to the cosy fireplace housing the wood burner to enjoy on the cooler evenings. The well-equipped beautifully designed kitchen is to the rear of the ground floor. The large modern shower room is conveniently located at the bottom of the stairs, and the soft White Company bath sheets will wrap you in refreshing luxury. The master bedroom has a kingsize bed with EVE mattress whilst the second bedroom is furnished with a double bed. The village also famously boasts three Morris dancing teams which can be seen during the summer, their main event taking place on the spring bank holiday weekend where you can also enjoy other traditional events including the great original annual shirt race, May garlands and a flower festival. There are many country walks and cycling paths to enjoy from both Molly The Shepherds Hut and Bampton.
For more local amenities, Witney is just a short drive away and the historic city of Oxford is just over 20 miles away where you can explore the historic buildings, go punting on the river, eat and shop in the many independent and high street cafés, restaurants and shops. You are also a stone’s throw from the Cotswolds with Burford, Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water and Chipping Norton within half an hour’s drive. Carp and trout fishing is available just 8 miles away. If it’s shopping you’re after, you can take a trip to Swindon or Bicester where you will find many bargains at the outlet shopping villages. Located in the village of Hook Norton, this Grade II listed holiday cottage is documented as having been part of a malthouse in the 17th century and is situated in the heart of the village. One of a row, it has been lovingly restored and retains many character features which include old stone floors and walls. Village life revolves around the old Norman church, quaint pubs and the village shop, which provides for guests’ daily needs. Hook Norton is best known for its Victorian Tower Brewery, the only remaining steam driven brewery still in operation in the UK.
