These two properties are in the pretty village of Burwarton, at the foot of The Brown Clee Hill, and located just a minutes walk from a country pub ’The Boyne Arms’, which has been renovated and is run by the owners’ of these properties. The Boyne Arms offers fantastic meals in a most comfortable and cosy setting, the beer garden outside now includes private pods which guests can use to enjoy their drinks and food outside (see their website for opening and serving times). Included in your short break will be a return journey to either Ludlow or Bridgnorth, to enhance your stay without the need to worry about transport.
The Old School House 1 (UK32061) is a three bedroomed property of which one is en-suite and has a mezzanine balcony overlooking the open plan living space. The Old Kitchen (UK32062) is a studio apartment with the bedroom area in with the living area.
Burwarton is close to Shrewsbury, Ironbridge, Ludlow and Bridgnorth which all offer an array of attractions as well as a large range of shops and bars. For the more active guests there are many walks to enjoy such as Clee Burf and Brown Clee Hill which is the highest point in Shropshire. The town of Ludlow is also just a short drive away and highlights for the day include Mortimer Forest and Ludlow Castle. After a long day walking and exploring all that Shropshire has to offer. Situated on the owner’s farm in the pretty hamlet of Betton Strange, only two miles from the town centre of Shrewsbury. The barns at Bretton Alkmere Farm are perfect for a family get together or a friend’s holiday with plenty of luxurious extras. The Brewhouse (UK44073) sleeps two, The Granary (UK44074) sleeps six, The Dairy (UK44130) sleeps eight and The Stables (UK44139) sleeps 10 and all have been decorated to a high modern standard whilst cleverly preserving the characteristics of the original barns.
The owners have worked with an interior designer to give the barns the extra ’wow’ factor when it comes to décor. They come with en-suite facilities and all of them have large open plan living, dining and kitchen areas with plenty of comfy seating for all and large dining tables. The kitchens are spacious, modern, and fully equipped for any chefs in the party, but if you don’t feel like cooking, there’s plenty of fantastic restaurants nearby that the owners will gladly share their recommendations. All the barns have wood flooring throughout and charming exposed beams, and there has been a great deal of attention to detail so that you can relax in style and comfort. There are Smart TVs with Netflix if you fancy a movie night. Each of the barns come with enclosed gardens and patios, with breathtaking views of the surrounding Shropshire countryside and plenty of parking for everyone. In addition to the fabulous accommodation, the owners offer you a luxury hamper and if there’s availability the children can be shown around the farm. The family have a fantastic farm shop not too far away, so that you can indulge in delicious local produce during your stay.
You are located only a 10-minute drive from the beautiful and very popular town of Shrewsbury, which is a great place to explore. Bursting with independent shops, coffee bars and restaurants and set on the banks of the River Severn, there’s plenty to see and do. Farmers markets are laid on throughout the year, and events happening all the time, it’s a must visit. In the nearby Shropshire Hills, hikers and cyclists can explore the varied landscape, stopping in at numerous quaint villages along the way to explore meadows, hills, and woodland. Or visit one of many of the National Trust properties close by. There’ something for everyone, the special places in Shropshire are just waiting to be discovered. Shropshire Glamping is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the stunning countryside. All the accommodation is designed, built, and individually styled with luxury furnishings and fixtures. The Geo Dome, Summerhouse and Kingfisher Pod are set around the lake, each with their own view and where the huge variety of interesting geese and birdlife gather including a kingfisher family, grebe and tufted ducks. The Willow Shepherd’s Hut nestles in the oak tree field, has views over the field and across the stream towards the lake and is reached by foot along a gravelled walkway.
The Willow Hut is uniquely decorated and finished with cleverly designed features to make use of the comfy space available. A raised ‘cabin-style’ kingsize bed has the same level view through the window along the field to the oak tree. Under the bed is where the clever attention to detail can be appreciated. A pull-out hideaway table with 2 padded benches can be pulled out when dining, drinking or just sitting. One of the benches can be pulled out slightly and used to climb onto the raised bed. The bathroom has a full-size shower, beautiful granite sink and corner toilet. The hut is lit inside and out with lovely industrial-style lighting. The double ‘stable door’ style doors lead out onto the steps to the garden patio where there is a table and chairs, barbeque and fire pit. There is a newly planted small orchard and shrubs. To stock up your kitchen, head to Shawbury, 10 minutes away, where you’ll find a small supermarket a bakery, takeaway restaurants, and an organic farm shop.
Venture into Shrewsbury where there’s a variety of things to do making it a great day out. Shrewsbury is full of finds to be discovered by foot or by boat; the River Severn is a must, as is the array of independents from cafes to boutique shops, the castle, the old market hall featuring local artists and lovely shops and eateries, all in the picturesque market town with over 1,000 years of history.
The Shropshire Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is home to The Wrekin, ’or little mountain’, which is a well-known landmark that dominates the skyline for miles. Sitting at 407 metres, it is popular with hikers and walkers as it offers superb views over Shropshire. Further afield takes you to the medieval market town of Ludlow, famous for its castle as well as many food and drink festivals throughout the year to enjoy. Take a trip to the town of Bridgnorth, home to The Severn Valley Steam Railway, explore the World Heritage Site of the Ironbridge Gorge or discover the numerous National Trust properties of Attingham Park, Benthall Hall, Sunnycroft House and Carding Mill Valley all within easy reach.
The owners offer delightful breakfast packs, just ask them directly prior to your arrival. Access to the accommodation is reached by foot via the gravelled pathways. The owners can transport belongings for you with their utility buggy. Use of large vintage/industrial style barbeque hut with large charcoal barbeque, pig roast burner, pizza oven and sit-up bar area, table, and chairs. Lit with fairy lights inside which can be decorated and set for special occasions (extra charge applies).

Welcome to Coed Y Gaer Annexe, located in the peaceful village of Llansilin just outside the border town of Oswestry.
With spectacular views across to Snowdonia on a clear day, Coed Y Gaer Annexe is a great choice for couples looking to slow down the pace and reconnect with nature. The interior of the annexe has been carefully refurbished into a modern home with everything you need for your stay. The living room offers cosy seating, with Netflix and space for four around the dining table. The bespoke kitchen is well-equipped with everything you’ll need from quick breakfasts to fancy dinners. Conveniently the shower room is located on the ground floor, then up to the double bedroom on the first floor. The bedroom has lovely oak flooring with amazing views of the farm and surrounding area from the window.
After a day spent exploring the market town of Oswestry or Llangollen situated on the River Dee and is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, you’ll be able to snuggle up on the sofa and enjoy some of the locally sourced treats from your welcome hamper or enjoy a barbecue from the garden or picnic area outside. Other nearby attractions include Park Hall, Powys Castle, Erddig, Chirk Castle and Llangollen with white water rafting, horse-drawn canal barges and steam railways. Also, the historic city of Chester is an easy drive and a great place to shop or visit one of the many restaurants. One of the seven wonders of Wales is Llanrhaedr Waterfalls which is within a 15-minute drive. Be sure to explore the area on foot, wandering around the grounds and taking in the peace and serenity that’s all around you.

Ludlow town offers guests a wide variety of things to do and sights to see; it is overshadowed by its own majestic castle, as it was once, like York, a seat of government in Tudor and Stuart England. It hosts the famous Food Festivals and events throughout the year, there is always a lively atmosphere in the town. It has a reputation for fine foods, speciality and antique shops, and even a racecourse. The castle hosts a number of events that run throughout the year, including being a beautiful spot for weddings. There are many walks in and around the town and guests can walk to explore the town or to visit one of the many pubs or restaurants. An excellent base to explore the unrivalled countryside for picnicking and walking, or nearby towns such as Bridgnorth and Bewdley with the Severn Valley Railway, Ironbridge, Much Wenlock, Church Stretton, Tenbury Wells and Leominster. The cathedral city of Hereford with its chained library and Mappa Mundi are all within a short drive, as are historic houses such as Witley Court, Berrington Hall, Croft Castle, Stokesay and Powis Castle on the Welsh borders. The property boasts an enviable position in the town close to many town amenities and within easy walking distance.

The Parlour is nestled away on a quiet farm, a great choice for couples, a small family or friends looking to escape and reconnect with nature. Located in the village of Northwood, in between Wem and Ellesmere, the property offers excellent access to surrounding areas each offering many attractions. Just down the road is one of Shropshire’s most beautiful meres, Colemere. It is almost surrounded by mature woodland and has two very attractive hay meadows to explore.
Shropshire has many special landscapes including the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Stiperstones and Corndon Hill Country crossing the border in the southwest of the county and the internationally important Meres and Mosses in the north. The Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal World Heritage Site also includes part of Shropshire around Chirk in the north.
There are several towns just a short drive from Top House Farm which make a great day out. Why not stroll around the town of Shrewsbury, it is neatly scooped up in the loop of the River Severn. Inside the loop are Medieval streets lined with wonky buildings containing original and one-off shops and street names that truly tell a story - look out for Butcher Row, Fish Street and Grope Lane or a little further in the other direction is Chester. When it comes to beautiful cities, Chester is one of the best and should be on every tourist’s ‘must see’ itinerary.
