Strawberry Lodge (ref 29841) stands detached at the far end of the grounds of Barrowswood, enjoying woodland surroundings with magnificent views over the field and across to Cheddar Gorge. Blackberry Lodge (ref W44121) is a single-storey, detached lodge, ideal for a romantic retreat for couples. All three properties may be booked together should you have a larger party.
Cheddar village offers plenty of interesting shops and cafes as well as other attractions. Cheddar Gorge, Britain’s largest limestone ravine gouged through the Mendips, is a magnet for climbers, walkers and visitors to the floodlit caves and Cheddar Reservoir is a great place to take a picnic, look out for wildlife and join in activities such as sailing and angling. Axbridge is a charming market town with a medieval square and half-timbered buildings, whilst Wookey Hole attracts many visitors to the showcaves. Wells is England’s smallest city set around a cathedral; Wedmore is a lively town with many individual shops and eateries, Glastonbury is famous for its music festival, spiritual culture and King Arthur legends, and the coastal resorts and magnificent beaches at Weston-super-Mare, Burnham-on-Sea, Berrow and Brean are all within a short drive, as are the cities of Bath and Bristol. As hard as it will be to tear yourself away from the lodges, when you do you will find a wealth of places to visit nearby. For the motorheads, Haynes Motor Museum is just a 5-minute drive from the lodges where you can discover everything from classic cars to modern marvels at this wonderful attraction. Grab a designer bargain at Clarks Village retail outlet in Street or head to Glastonbury and explore the medieval town and climb the Tor for those amazing views of Somerset. For the foodies head to The Newt, just under a 10-minute drive; this increasingly popular venue is well known for its food, lively atmosphere and even the odd celebrity or two can be spotted passing through. You will also find plenty of National Trust properties nearby such as Lytes Cary Manor and Montacute House, both within a 20-minute drive.

Built in 2023, Brook Cottage is a very well presented detached cottage set within the owners’ gated grounds. The bright and airy cottage has an open plan living/dining/kitchen with a Smart TV, dining table and in the kitchen area, everything you’ll need for your stay. There’s an adjacent utility area with a washing machine and tumble dryer, and a separate toilet. On the first floor you’ll find the two bedrooms, one with zip and link super kingsize bed which can be twin beds on request, and the second with a kingsize bed. A shower rooom completes the first floor. Outside and to the rear is a large private patio garden which is fully enclosed, perfect for dogs to run around freely in (but please keep them on leads when not in this area). There are lovely borders with bespoke wooden seating and a luxurious private hot tub.
Within a 10-minute drive you have Blue Anchor beach, a wonderful dog friendly beach with café, the town of Watchet with its harbour and local shops and pubs, or the seaside resort of Minehead which has many shops, restaurants and a beach. The village of Washford is under a mile away with its lovely local Inn. Whilst in Minehead, why not jump on the West Somerset Steam Railway which weaves its way along the north Somerset coast through to the countryside town of Bishops Lydeard. Exmoor National Park, with its dark star gazing skies, is within easy reach being under 2 miles away, and has many quaint hamlets and villages to explore, miles of moors, superb scenery and the famous wild Exmoor ponies. Then there’s the local county town of Taunton where you can indulge in some shopping, dining or catch a game of cricket at the county ground.

Welcome to Withies, a wonderful large holiday home perfect for multiple families or friends to enjoy both inside and out. On the ground floor you will find a fabulous living room with a wood burner and a large electric reclining corner sofa, the perfect spot to relax in after a busy day. Head through to the spacious kitchen/dining area that comes packed full of everything you need during your stay. There are many walks to be enjoyed directly from Withies or why not head over to Langport, park up the car and walk the Parret Trail along the River Parret to enjoy the local shops and restaurants?
