Barrowswood, a semi-detached holiday cottage (ref 29842), enjoys commanding views over Cheddar Gorge in the distance. Its large garden adjoins a field with occasional visiting sheep and is the perfect spot in which to relax and unwind. Strawberry Lodge (ref 29841) stands detached at the far end of the grounds of Barrowswood, enjoying woodland surroundings with magnificent views over the field and across to Cheddar Gorge. Blackberry Lodge (ref W44121) is a single-storey, detached lodge, ideal for a romantic retreat for couples. All three properties may be booked together should you have a larger party.
Cheddar village offers plenty of interesting shops and cafes as well as other attractions. Cheddar Gorge, Britain’s largest limestone ravine gouged through the Mendips, is a magnet for climbers, walkers and visitors to the floodlit caves and Cheddar Reservoir is a great place to take a picnic, look out for wildlife and join in activities such as sailing and angling. Axbridge is a charming market town with a medieval square and half-timbered buildings, whilst Wookey Hole attracts many visitors to the showcaves. Wells is England’s smallest city set around a cathedral; Wedmore is a lively town with many individual shops and eateries, Glastonbury is famous for its music festival, spiritual culture and King Arthur legends, and the coastal resorts and magnificent beaches at Weston-super-Mare, Burnham-on-Sea, Berrow and Brean are all within a short drive, as are the cities of Bath and Bristol. It’s also the terminus for West Somerset Railway, the longest heritage railway in Britain. The town offers a wide range of attractions, including the beach, promenade, harbour, beautiful gardens and a colourful tree-lined avenue with an array of shops and amenities. Dominated by the wooded slopes of North Hill, the whole area is renowned for its outstanding natural beauty and is also well situated to discover the beauty of North Devon with stunning Lynton and Lynmouth en route.

Built in 2023, Brook Cottage is a very well presented detached cottage set within the owners’ gated grounds. The bright and airy cottage has an open plan living/dining/kitchen with a Smart TV, dining table and in the kitchen area, everything you’ll need for your stay. There’s an adjacent utility area with a washing machine and tumble dryer, and a separate toilet. On the first floor you’ll find the two bedrooms, one with zip and link super kingsize bed which can be twin beds on request, and the second with a kingsize bed. A shower rooom completes the first floor. Outside and to the rear is a large private patio garden which is fully enclosed, perfect for dogs to run around freely in (but please keep them on leads when not in this area). There are lovely borders with bespoke wooden seating and a luxurious private hot tub.
Within a 10-minute drive you have Blue Anchor beach, a wonderful dog friendly beach with café, the town of Watchet with its harbour and local shops and pubs, or the seaside resort of Minehead which has many shops, restaurants and a beach. The village of Washford is under a mile away with its lovely local Inn. Whilst in Minehead, why not jump on the West Somerset Steam Railway which weaves its way along the north Somerset coast through to the countryside town of Bishops Lydeard. Exmoor National Park, with its dark star gazing skies, is within easy reach being under 2 miles away, and has many quaint hamlets and villages to explore, miles of moors, superb scenery and the famous wild Exmoor ponies. Then there’s the local county town of Taunton where you can indulge in some shopping, dining or catch a game of cricket at the county ground.

Welcome to Withies, a wonderful large holiday home perfect for multiple families or friends to enjoy both inside and out. On the ground floor you will find a fabulous living room with a wood burner and a large electric reclining corner sofa, the perfect spot to relax in after a busy day. Head through to the spacious kitchen/dining area that comes packed full of everything you need during your stay. The dining table is ideal for large family meals and can turn into table tennis for some entertainment on those rainy days or fun evenings. You will also find a double bedroom on the ground floor.
Upstairs, on the first floor, you have two family bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with two single beds, the second bedroom with a double and a single bed. The family bathroom has a bath with shower attachment, plus there is a separate wet room with shower and toilet. There is also a further double bedroom and a smaller single room.
Outside, the large garden is set up for fun and games, from the mini football pitch to the trampoline and the children’s play area. The huge lawned area hosts a picnic table and BBQ for those long summer days you never want to end! There are many walks to be enjoyed directly from Withies or why not head over to Langport, park up the car and walk the Parret Trail along the River Parret to enjoy the local shops and restaurants? There is also a large supermarket here to stock up on your holiday provisions.
For a taste of ancient history, head to Glastonbury with its medieval tor and eclectic mixture of shops. For the bargain hunters Clarks Village in Street, with its designer outlet, is a must do! The beaches of Burnham-on-Sea and Weston-super-Mare are within an easy drive away to experience the wonderful taste of traditional seaside fare!

The beautiful West Somerset Steam Railway, which runs through Blue Anchor, has a stop here and they offer wonderful trips as well as speciality trips with steam fairs, afternoon teas, candlelight dinners and the amazing Santa Express! Nearby, head to the medieval village of Dunster with its wonderful castle, spend a day at the arcades or shopping in Minehead, pop to Watchet and stroll around the Harbour or head inland onto Exmoor.
