Welcome to Chestnut Cottage, a charming holiday retreat, newly renovated for autumn 2023, nestled in the heart of Somerset on the outskirts of the city of Wells in the village of Coxley Wick, a hamlet of Coxley, off the main road and surrounded by the beauty of the countryside. This delightful cottage offers a comfortable and homely ambiance for your holiday with public transport and country walkways in to Wells just 2 miles away as well as good accessibility to Bath, Bristol, Glastonbury, Clarks Village Outlet and wider Somerset tourist attractions.
As you step into Chestnut Cottage, head upstairs to the first floor, where a large open plan living space awaits. Welcome to Firtree Farm Lodges, a delightful collection of two magnificent lodges set in an enviable location that enjoy stunning views for a truly wonderful holiday experience. Although the word lodge conjures images of a small hideaway, don’t be fooled, these lodges have been bespoke designed to create a large and welcoming living space.

As hard as it will be to tear yourself away from the lodges, when you do you will find a wealth of places to visit nearby. For the motorheads, Haynes Motor Museum is just a 5-minute drive from the lodges where you can discover everything from classic cars to modern marvels at this wonderful attraction. Grab a designer bargain at Clarks Village retail outlet in Street or head to Glastonbury and explore the medieval town and climb the Tor for those amazing views of Somerset. For the foodies head to The Newt, just under a 10-minute drive; this increasingly popular venue is well known for its food, lively atmosphere and even the odd celebrity or two can be spotted passing through. You will also find plenty of National Trust properties nearby such as Lytes Cary Manor and Montacute House, both within a 20-minute drive.

This characteristic, 15th-century cottage with its thatched roof and unusual feature of terracotta tiled exterior make this a unique holiday destination. Although having all the old charm outside, internally the cottage has been finished to a very good standard and provides a comfortable and convenient interior. The semi-detached cottage is situated in the Exmoor town of Dulverton not far from the banks of the River Barle. So, whether you want to wander into the town centre, enjoy one of the local pubs and restaurants, or sit by the river and watch the world pass by, all this can be done without having to step foot in the car. There is superb scenery and walking on the South West Coastal Path or inland on Exmoor and many other places to visit to make a memorable holiday. The Victorian villages of Lynmouth and Lynton, famous for the Watersmeet Gorge (NT), valley of the rocks and the funicular cliff railway are close by. Looking towards Minehead, there is the promenade to enjoy a relaxing walk and an ice cream, as well as having a good array of shops and other amenities. The West Somerset Railway is worth a visit for those with an interest in steam engines. Dunster Castle (NT) and village, with its beautiful terraced gardens, Deer Park and Mill will make for an interesting day out as well as Porlock Weir. There are beaches at Dunster and Blue Anchor for all to enjoy. Shop, pub and restaurant 10 yards.

This 19th-century Coach House, once part of a country house estate and still retains many original features. Set in 4 acres of grounds within the owner’s 60 acre farm, situated on the beautiful Brendon Hills, it is close to Wimbleball Lake, which is renowned for its fly fishing, sailing, rowing, paddling board and excellent activity centre. Haddon Hill offers wonderful moorland walks and the West Somerset coast is only 15 minutes away, offering stunning scenery and the fossil beach at Kilve. The pretty country village of Dulverton is a 10-minute drive, and the medieval village of Dunster with its castle is another popular local attraction. Exmoor National Park was designated as the first Dark Sky reserve in Europe. The property is ideal for exploring Exmoor, activity holidays or walking/training your dogs who are always welcome at the Coach House at no extra cost. Upton has some excellent pubs, restaurants and tearooms and some lovely quaint village shops selling local produce. Shop 7 miles, pub 3 miles.

This pair of semi-detached converted barns enjoy a peaceful rural setting amongst rolling countryside, yet just a few miles from Glastonbury. The barns have been sympathetically renovated with oak floors and doors, large patio doors and with the original hayloft storage areas converted into galleried bedrooms. Both properties have a private terraced area, with a shared elevated lawned area, and the site is fully enclosed with fencing, ideal for those with pets or children. The Monarchs Way long distance footpath passes just in front of the barns and there are many organised tours, walks and listed footpaths within the immediate area, in the Mendip Hills and along the Somerset Levels. Glastonbury Town Trail and Glastonbury Rural Walk can be followed with ease. Attractions in Glastonbury include climbing up the tor for magnificent views, the Chalice Well and Rural Life Museum, the high street itself encompassing the myths, legends and spiritual ambience of the town, as well as the famous abbey. The city of Wells with its cathedral and Bishops Palace is within a 20-minute drive, as are The Royal Bath and West Showground at Shepton Mallet and Wookey Hole Caves. The Fleet Air Museum at Yeovilton and Cheddar Gorge are approximately a 30-minute drive. For retail therapy, the factory outlet centre of Clarks Village in Street is a 20-minute drive away. Close by is the village of Kilmersdon, home to the nursery rhyme Jack and Jill. Also the beautiful picturesque village of Mells is only 2.5 miles away. There are many wonderful country pubs and restaurants in the surrounding area.
