The Yellow Cottage on the Hill is a late Georgian property. Formerly a shop, it has been sympathetically renovated to provide a light relaxing space with an eclectic mixture of modern, mid-century, and antique furniture.
The cottage consists of a study area, sitting room, breakfast room and kitchen. Upstairs there are two double bedrooms, one with en-suite and a twin room. This three-bedroom holiday home is just a short walk away from Framlingham’s town centre where you can enjoy the many pubs, restaurants, independent shops, and cafés. This historic market town was once voted as ’one of the most desirable places to live’, as featured in ‘Country Life’ magazine. With a rich blend of culture, history, and stunning architecture, it is easy to understand why.
There are many excellent networks of walks and cycle routes meandering through the pretty Suffolk villages, both country and coastal. The National Trust owned Sutton Hoo is only a 20-minute drive away, and the nearby Dunwich Heath is within 25 minutes. A 25-minute drive away is the port of Felixstowe and its beaches with the passenger foot and bike ferry leaving from Landguard Fort to historic Harwich and Shotley. Suffolk boasts many country estates for visiting, including Helmingham Hall, Crows Hall and Hevingham Hall. Nearby is Snape Maltings, known for being Benjamin Britten’s concert hall, and only 30 minutes’ car drive is the seaside town of Aldeburgh. Also worth a visit is Sutton Hoo, Woodbridge, and the RSPB Nature Reserve at Minsmere.
In addition, approximately 35 minutes away is the coastal town of Southwold and the village of Walberswick. The Latitude Festival is 30 minutes’ car drive away and is held annually at Henham Park, while the Constable Country villages of Dedham and East Bergholt are about 35 minutes’ drive. The towns of Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich and Colchester are all within easy reach for a great day out. Close by you can visit Framlingham Castle - the famous ‘Castle on the Hill’, Shawsgate Vineyard, Bruisyard and Helmingham Hall, along with Easton Farm Park. The coast is a short drive away, a stretch of Heritage Coastline where cycling, hiking and simply taking in the views is the perfect way to slow down and relax. Beach 14 miles. From the moment you step inside you’ll be impressed by the original stained glass front door and high ceilings giving an added feel of light and space. You are welcomed into the entrance hall providing ample room for coats and shoes, while the dining area is perfect for enjoying meals together. The ground floor houses a comfortable living room, as well as a good sized sitting room. On the first floor are two super kingsize bedrooms alongside a double bedroom, a family bathroom and a shower room. The second floor features two twin rooms (one with a trundle bed), a further super kingsize bedroom (with a trundle bed), a bunk room, and a bathroom. Outside and you’ll find an enclosed garden with large patio area where you can relax.
A perfect location to sit and enjoy the seafront location or use it as an excellent base for exploring. You are a short walk away from lots of restaurants, pubs and shops, with easy access to the Norfolk Broads National Park. Lowestoft has some fantastic beaches, and the Suffolk Heritage coast is full of pretty villages such as Southwold, Dunwich and Aldeburgh. The surrounding area provides plenty of opportunities for scenic walks, cycling, and wildlife observation, perfect for nature enthusiasts. An abundance of breathtaking beaches are close by. If you would like to venture further afield, the railway station is close by with the train to Norwich only taking 38 minutes (or a 45 – 50-minute drive). Here you will find plenty of culture, heritage and history along with excellent shopping, restaurant and pubs. Other local and popular attractions include Oulton Broad, Somerleyton Gardens, Africa Alive, Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park, Lowestoft Harbour and South Pier.

There are plenty of attractions for all ages to enjoy; Oulton Broad is a short drive away, the southern gateway to the Norfolk Broads National Park, also popular with speed boat racing during the summer. Lowestoft has two piers, classic arcade games, a shopping centre and eateries. The traditional seaside resort of Great Yarmouth offers the Pleasure Beach, beach fronting with amusements, donkey rides, pitch and putt, fun fairs, pier, promenade and much more. Pleasurewood Hills theme park also offers a fun day out.
Venture further afield and you can explore the Suffolk Heritage Coastline and country parks, and The Broads National Park offers miles of inland waterways, best explored with day boat hire and plenty of waterside eateries to refuel and enjoy. Pub within a mile.
