Entering the cottage there are low ceilings stepping down to the kitchen and up the stairs. Stepping up into the lounge from the kitchen, the lounge boasts a wood burning stove, perfect to snuggle alongside during the cooler evenings. Outside is a lovely garden with seating area perfect for barbecue and al fresco dining. Situated in a peaceful village location with a great village pub a few minutes’ walk away. A perfect location to take a moment and recharge, but still having a wealth of activities and attractions to explore on the doorstep. Within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with unspoilt countryside rich with wildlife and the unique market town of Beccles just a mile away or approximately 28 minutes walking distance. The local area offers plenty of great walking and cycling opportunities from the doorstep, where you have miles of tracks to explore, so be sure to bring your binoculars as it’s a great place to view the abundance of wildlife and offers great fishing opportunities. Just 400 yards from the cottage onto Marsh Lane is a footpath where you can walk alongside the river. The village of Gillingham sits on the Norfolk and Suffolk border, located in the Broads National Park where the River Waveney runs through. Beccles town offers independent boutiques and chain shops, a great collection of eateries including fine dining and many cafés serving home made cakes and savouries. The weekly market is excellent for all things local should you wish to enjoy a night of cooking and dining in. The Broads National Park is very popular, best enjoyed on the waterways with kayaks, canoes and day boat motor launches for a more leisurely pace. Alternatively sit back and enjoy a guided boat tour, where you can just soak up the incredible national park. Don’t forget to enjoy a swim at the local Lido open air heated swimming pool, popular with many local swimmers. Norwich (18 miles) a bustling cathedral city with culture, heritage, excellent shopping and entertainment for all. Watch the weekly speed boat racing (in season) on Oulton Broad, 9 miles. The stunning Mill Villa is just a short walk from the wide, sandy beach in Pakefield near Lowestoft. Close by lies the unspoilt and sought-after resort of Southwold, with its pier and much-photographed beach huts.; or for a change of pace, enjoy all the fun of the fair or walk along the Golden Mile at Great Yarmouth, which boasts traditional seaside attractions too numerous to mention.
Families should make time for a trip to Pleasurewood Hills, the only theme park in East Anglia, and those looking for a quieter time will find the Norfolk Broads National Park a great choice, the southern gateway of which lies in Oulton Broad, just a short drive away. Shoppers should head to the medieval city of Norwich, which was voted one of the top ten shopping locations in the UK. Here you will also find a splendid Norman castle and a host of museums and galleries, all of which make this city a great day out, reached either by car or the nearby railway line.
Add in lots of great walks, cycle routes and wildlife watching opportunities and you will see why this area remains so popular. After a day out exploring and having worked up a great appetite, you will be delighted to find that there are not only lots of great places to eat close to Kirkley Cliff, but lots of delivery options for when you are too tired to cook or venture out. Externally there is off road parking for three vehicles and on road parking to the front of the property. The hidden treasure is to the rear which features a tranquil yet pretty herbaceous garden. Lilliput Cottage is a character cottage located in the village of Wangford, a popular destination for those wishing to be based closely to the seaside location of Southwold. Lilliput Cottage is a lovely terraced cottage, offering a comfortable base for a relaxing break to the peaceful Suffolk village of Wangford and the surrounding area.
The property boasts a charming kitchen/dining room overlooking and a cosy living room with an open fire. Upstairs you will find two bedrooms and a contemporary family bathroom with shower cubicle. The cottage is suitable for a couple or a family of three, and one dog is welcome, with dog friendly pubs and various walks nearby, RSPB Minsmere. The enclosed garden is set slightly away from the property but is great for your four-legged friend to relax in the shade.
Wangford is only three miles from the beaches and from Southwold town centre, yet within easy access of the A12 and the many other attractions of the Heritage Coast. There is a convenient village shop, a farm shop and the popular local pub with restaurant serving delicious local food, much recommended by past guests. Beach 3½ miles. Pub and restaurant ½ mile.

The Nest is a beautiful, self-contained one-bedroom cottage situated next to the main farmhouse. It can sleep up to three adults or two adults with two children. It’s the perfect location for those wishing to explore the local area and is ideal for those interested in walking and wildlife. The living room is a former conservatory with a cosy roof and has underfloor heating to ensure comfort all year round. The living room has a double sofa bed, TV and dining table. You’ll also find a selection of games and toys to keep you entertained, and books and maps to help you whilst exploring the area. The small but perfectly formed kitchen has everything you need, with a full oven, gas hob, microwave and fridge. You’ll find some of the basics such as cooking oil, salt, pepper etc already in the cupboards. The bedroom features a super kingsize bed, reading lights, built-in wardrobes with a full-length mirror and French doors opening up onto the private garden. It’s a bright and airy room, but once you’ve drawn the curtains and dimmed the lights it’s the ideal place to cosy up with a good book. Just off the bedroom is a large shower room, with a walk-in shower, twin vanity units and toilet. The garden has a seating area, with gas BBQ and a chimnea with views out across the farm fields allowing you to listen to the birdsong.
We’ve made sure you don’t need to pack too heavily, with games, toys for the kids, DVDs, books, picnic blanket, flask, Tupperware, children’s cups, plates and cutlery all provided. We can even lend camping chairs, beach shelters and buckets and spades if needed. Don’t worry we haven’t forgotten your four-legged friend, there’s bowls, blankets, poo bags and a little treat ready for their arrival too.
Located in the heart of Suffolk Coast’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, The Nest is the perfect retreat for those wishing to explore the area. Situated discreetly off a private farm track, well away from the busy roads and directly on the Sandlings Walk, it’s ideal for walkers, cyclists and birdwatchers. The Nest is just 1½ miles from Aldeburgh town, which has an array of pubs, cafés, shops and plenty of other facilities. The nearest pubs are in Knodishall and Aldringham, only a 5-minute drive away or can be reached via country footpaths.
Popular places such as Thorpeness, Southwold, Minsmere Nature Reserve, Orford, Woodbridge and Framlingham are all within a 35-minute drive. One (two smaller dogs considered), well-behaved dog is permitted during your stay. Dogs must be kept under control at all times and be cleaned up after. Beach House is located on a wonderful holiday park, within walking distance to the beach and a terrific choice for a seaside holiday. Guests have full access to the indoor heated swimming pool, a children’s play area, restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating, clubhouse hosting seasonal on-site entertainment, and a bar with pool table and dart board.
The property has a modern, open-plan living space with Smart TV and a well-equipped kitchen. Prefer to eat off the park? Then located opposite the holiday park entrance is the village pub and a Chinese takeaway restaurant, and there is a fish and chip shop in in the village, a short walk away.
You are spoilt for choice with excellent sandy beaches, big open skies and breath-taking sunrises. There are plenty of attractions for all ages to enjoy; Oulton Broad is a short drive away, the southern gateway to the Norfolk Broads National Park, also popular with speed boat racing during the summer. Lowestoft has two piers, classic arcade games, a shopping centre and eateries. The traditional seaside resort of Great Yarmouth offers the Pleasure Beach, beach fronting with amusements, donkey rides, pitch and putt, fun fairs, pier, promenade and much more. Pleasurewood Hills theme park also offers a fun day out.
Venture further afield and you can explore the Suffolk Heritage Coastline and country parks, and The Broads National Park offers miles of inland waterways, best explored with day boat hire and plenty of waterside eateries to refuel and enjoy. Pub within a mile.

Fishing available along riverbank, and enjoy the wonderful walks that follow the beautiful southern waterway. There are plenty of quirky independent shops, restaurants and cafés, along with festivals and entertainment held throughout the year. Remember to bring your swims and visit the open air Lido swimming pool (booking is recommended). Visit nearby Lowestoft for sandy beaches and seaside amusements, or head to Southwold for a traditional seaside resort, just 16 minutes’ drive away. May Cottage is a tastefully renovated cottage on one level in a rural location with contemporary furnishings throughout and a sunny rear garden. Rendham’s traditional village pub, serving local beers and good food, is just steps from the self-catering cottage and the historic village church is across the road. This semi-detached cottage with patio garden is well laid out with the dining room at the heart and the kitchen leading off of it to one side and the living room to the other with a hatch between the two.
