Surrounded by glorious open countryside where walks can be enjoyed direct from the doorstep, and being located on the edge of the Peak District National Park, it opens a whole host of other opportunities. It is also perfect for cycling, with keen cyclists able to re-create routes used in the Tour de Yorkshire. Langsett village, just over a mile away, is home to a traditional local pub, café and coffee shop, and the neighbouring market town of Penistone can be reached in just 10 minutes. For serious shoppers, Meadowhall is around 20 minutes away and Holmfirth, most famous from Last of the Summer Wine can be reached in around 15 minutes. The Derwent Reservoir, once used by the Dambusters to practise low level flying, is around 45 minutes away, and for those with children, Cannon Hall Farm (famous from the Channel 5 show), Cliffe House and Wentworth Castle Gardens are both nearby. Shop, pub and restaurant within 2 miles.

Set directly on the Trans-Pennine Trail, next door to the owner’s home, on the fringes of the small Yorkshire village of Shelley. The location is peaceful with ample walking and cycling available direct from the door. Your pet is welcome too, with dog bed and bowls provided and a local dog friendly pub available within walking distance.
Being on the edge of the Pennines and the Peak District National Park, the location is also perfect for visiting the Yorkshire Dales, with the convenience of local town amenities of both Huddersfield and Holmfirth just 20 minutes away. Attractions in the area include the nationally renowned Yorkshire Sculpture Park, the Hepworth Gallery, Cannon Hall and the National Coal Mining Museum, which can all be reached in around 20 minutes. In 30 minutes you can be at Wentworth Castle or the Colne Valley Museum and in 40 minutes the National Trust Nostell Priory, or the Royal Armouries in Leeds. The city of Leeds has become a major shopping destination in recent years, while Meadowhall Shopping Centre with its abundance of shops and eateries is also just 40 minutes, with the bright lights of Manchester and York just over an hour away. Locally there are three excellent restaurants within a 5 minute drive, together with several pubs. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

Harlequin House is a beautifully presented bungalow, benefitting from spectacular views over the Holme Valley countryside. Accessed externally, here you will find a further en-suite double bedroom and study bed in the living area (which can be converted into a desk) and an additional shower cubicle. Outside you will find an enclosed garden complete with hot tub meaning you can truly relax and enjoy. For those with four legged friends the garden also provides direct access to Crow Wood conservation area, and then to finish there’s also the opportunity to make use of the friendly owners swimming pool and sauna, located just 7 miles away.
Harlequin House occupies a semi rural setting just over half a mile from the very centre of bustling Holmfirth where you will find an abundance of shops, cafés, tea rooms, restaurants and pubs. Quite uniquely, Holmfirth is also home to its very own vineyard and an intimate venue for live music and events, the Picturedrome. Widely recognised as the back drop for the record breaking BBC comedy Last of the Summer Wine, you can take a tour around the variety of film locations, and being located on the edge of the fabulous Peak District National Park means there are endless outdoor opportunities for walkers. Keen cyclists will relish the chance to recreate the 2015 Tour de Yorkshire at Holme Moss, and if you can bear to tear yourself away from the area there’s the Yorkshire Sculpture Park and Cannon Hall Farm around 30 minutes away and the cities of both Manchester and Leeds in around an hour. Millbarn is a beautiful 3 storey, grade II listed holiday property situated in the west Yorkshire village of Golcar, set just above the Colne Valley. For a wider range of shopping and impressive array of eating establishments the colourful market town of Huddersfield is just 4 miles away and is well served by good bus routes.
The neighbouring villages of Slaithwaite and Marsden are within a 15-minute drive away and are home to vintage shops and award winning cafes and restaurants. Keen cyclists can also recreate routes from the Tour de France 2014 including the iconic Holme Moss which is literally a stone’s throw away. Holmfirth is around 3 miles from the cottage, and anyone familiar with the TV comedy ’Last of the Summer Wine’ may recognise the area as the backdrop from this. In Holmfirth you’ll find a wide selection of cafés, bars, pubs and restaurants to suit the majority of tastes, together with a century old picture house and live music venue, and also a vineyard. Huddersfield is around 8 miles away and home to the UK’s first eco-spa, and a whole host of Peak District towns, villages and attractions are within easy reach to explore.

Digley Reservoir and Holmfirth Vineyard are both around a 10-minute drive from the property and further afield you’ll find attractions for all interests within easy reach. These include the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, The Hepworth Gallery, Nostell Priory, Salts Mill, Bronte Parsonage and Harewood House, all within an hour’s drive, as are the cities of York, Leeds, Manchester and Sheffield.

Originally three cottages and now one luxury holiday home, Weavers Cottage is ideal for families and friends to enjoy relaxed gatherings or special celebrations. The spacious open plan kitchen/dining/bar area is the heart of the house and perfect for entertaining with the large oak dining table seating up to twelve.
On the first-floor guests will find a master bedroom with kingsize bed, en-suite bathroom with large freestanding bath and also a dressing room with an additional single bed. Along the corridor you will find two further bedrooms and a shared bathroom. The second floor has two bedrooms with vaulted ceilings, galleried chill-out areas with TV and games consoles. One of these bedrooms is made up with twin beds that can be zipped to make a kingsize on request, the other has twin singles. There is also a further bathroom with full bath and shower. The garden will be a firm favourite with guests, with space for children to play and adults to relax. It has its own private hot tub to soak in, timber framed outdoor cooking area with pizza oven and BBQ for al fresco dining. After a scenic walk, leave your boots in the handy boot room, with plenty of hooks for wet coats and towels for muddy paws.
Weavers Cottage is nestled between the idyllic villages of Slaithwaite and Marsden and set back from the picturesque Huddersfield Narrow Canal. Both villages can be easily reached on foot or bicycle along the canal directly from the property. With an easy 20 min walk you can enjoy the numerous café’s, bars and local shops, including some excellent artisan bakeries for that special breakfast treat. Just a short walk through adjacent fields will bring you to the Olive Branch Inn with its relaxed atmosphere, fine dining and outdoor seating to take in the beautiful views. The property is burrowed amidst the National Trust Marsden Moor Estate; guests will be spoilt for choice with more than 5000 acres to explore. Whether you prefer to explore the landscape on foot, by bike or through the lens of a camera there are plenty of things to see and do. The rugged landscape and steep climbs are the perfect challenge for keen mountain bikers, while others might prefer to wander alongside the water’s edge of the canal and retrace ancient packhorse trails to Standedge Tunnel with it’s fascinating Visitor Centre – where you can learn about the longest, highest and deepest canal tunnel in Britain. Marsden Train station can be reached on foot or just a few minutes drive away and offers easy access to Manchester (36mins) and Leeds (45mins) for that Big City vibe.

Weavers Cottage is a wonderful pet-friendly holiday cottage less than a mile from the very centre of the super vibrant market town of Holmfirth. Comfortable and cosy it makes the perfect base for a getaway with or without your furry four-legged friends. Equipped with everything you need for a relaxing and enjoyable stay, the open-plan living area features a comfortable sofa which also converts to a sofa bed suitable for a child. There’s a Smart TV and the kitchen is well-equipped with all the utensils you need to whip up a delicious meal. Upstairs, the bedroom has the most beautiful beamed, vaulted ceiling, a comfortable double bed, and the convenience of en-suite facilities. Outside there’s a private parking space available, however those with larger vehicles will need to take caution.
Holmfirth is a beautiful ‘picture postcard’ town with plenty to see and do, including pet-friendly pubs and cafés where you can enjoy a meal and a drink. Probably best known as the back drop to the long running ‘Last of the Summer Wine’ TV series, quite excitingly, fans of the show can check out iconic locations such as Sid’s Café, Nora Batty’s steps and jump on board the ‘Summerwine Magic Tour’. Keen cyclists can re-create the Holme Moss Summit Climb as seen in 2014 Tour de France, and for evening entertainment, Holmfirth Picturedrome is reported to be the North of England’s finest intimate music venue. Quite uniquely, Holmfirth is also home to its very own vineyard where you can take a tour or grab a bite to eat. Of course all of this is on the northern edge of the Peak District National Park meaning opportunities for walkers are endless.
