Delightful period house Highwood Lodge is a dog-friendly holiday home nestled in the Yorkshire village of Denby Dale in the grounds of Bagden Hall Hotel.

Perfectly located in Menston, just outside of the picturesque market town Ilkley, Brookleigh Farm Cottage provides beautifully presented luxury accommodation combined with charm and character. Nestled at the bottom of a tree-lined country lane, guests may spot racehorses, who are trained nearby, while relaxing in the pretty private garden. Inside, the cottage has been lovingly refurbished to an extremely high standard with vintage wooden and porcelain flooring throughout.
Situated on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this a perfect retreat for walkers, cyclists and ramblers, with plenty of walks, cycle paths, bridleways and established footpaths into picturesque countryside. Dating back to Roman times, Menston is on the ancient Roman Road that linked York with the garrison at Ribchester. Nowadays you will find the village dotted with a selection of local shops and country pub. Nearby you will find the picturesque market town of Ilkley with an abundance of restaurants, pubs, pavement cafés and independent shops that can all be easily reached; as can legendary Bettys Cafe Tea Rooms where afternoon tea is a must. Harewood House, just 15 minutes away, is a fantastic day out offering impressive art collections, a magnificent rare bird garden and 100 acres of exquisite gardens to explore. For Emmerdale fans, you’ll also find the Set deep within the grounds of the estate.
Bolton Abbey can be reached in around a 20-minute drive and offers 30,000 acres of beautiful countryside to explore. The charming market town of Skipton, also 20 minutes away, is home to an ancient castle, cobbled high street and colourful street market. Leeds city centre can be reached in just 20 minutes from the local train station where you can enjoy luxury shopping and sip rooftop cocktails at Harvey Nichols. Haworth village, once home to the Brontë Sisters, is another major tourist attraction in the area and can be reached in around a 30-minute drive. York can be reached in an hour and for those looking further afield, the Lake District National Park is within a 2 hour drive.

A much sought-after lakeside bar and restaurant are just ½ mile down the road, and uniquely Elland is home to one of Britain’s oldest surviving purpose-built cinemas, as well as a popular and independent microbrewery. Brighouse is a vibrant yet traditional town with ample amenities, a weekly market, and a reputation for hosting great festivals. It also has its own train station which provides connections to a variety of West Yorkshire towns and villages, including Hebden Bridge and Halifax, as well as offering direct services to the major tourist attractions of both Manchester and Leeds. West View Farm provides comfortable accommodation for up to eight guests within four bedrooms. Ideally situated in the quiet hamlet of Hainworth, one mile south from Keighley in West Yorkshire. West View Farm provides everything you need to enjoy your time away. Entering the property, you are greeted by an allocated area to store your muddy boots and coats with a lovely decorative fire. Wander through to find a large games room benefitting from a multi-game table to enjoy and make memories. On this floor you can also find a toilet and a utility room with a washing machine and fridge/freezer.
Wander upstairs to find an open living room with a gas fire, a small step to a dining area. The lounge benefits from sumptuous sofas and two chairs. Enjoy the warmth of the fire as your favourite show or movie plays out on the TV after a long day exploring the area. Your fully fitted kitchen awaits you providing everything you need to rustle up those home-cooked meals with a gas hob and electric oven, fridge and microwave. Either eat in the adjacent dining room or the conservatory is a great place to host breakfast and soak up the views of the garden and rolling countryside views. Alternatively, when the sun is shining you could have a barbeque on the sheltered patio. Don’t fancy cooking? Why not treat yourself at one of the local pubs, restaurants or cafés, all within a mile.
When sleep calls, you have four bedrooms to choose from situated on the first floor, where you can sink onto the bed and rest your head, reset ready for an action-packed day ahead. There is one double bedroom with an en-suite shower room; one twin room; a kingsize room; and a room with bunk beds, all providing plenty of storage for your belongings during your stay. The family bathroom can also be found on the first floor benefitting from a bath and a separate shower and wash hand basin.
A couple of miles away is the town of Haworth, known for its links with the Bronte sisters; here you will find the Bronte Parsonage Museum, Bronte Waterfall and the famed walking trail of Bronte Way. It has Victorian buildings, shops, pubs and restaurants, plus close by is the National Trust-owned East Riddlesden Hall and many walking routes in the area. Catch a ride on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway and travel on steam or diesel trail through the surrounding countryside and villages, made famous as locations for the filming of ‘The Railway Children’. Venture to the idyllic market town of Skipton and uncover the gateway to the Dales, before continuing to Hebden Bridge, famously used in the filming of the popular BBC series ‘Happy Valley’. Within reach by car is the popular town of Harrogate, a historic town filled with attractions for the whole family, and the inviting spa town of Ilkley.
