Chestnut Lodge is located on the Lower Mill Estate in Somerford Keynes, a development of stunning, contemporary homes situated in a private, 450-acre nature reserve. The gated and managed estate comprises of woodland and meadows crossed by three rivers and surrounded by serene lakes. Nature lovers can walk through woodland and meadows enjoying the sight of migrating wildfowl, rare wild orchids and the observation of beavers from carefully located hides. Guests have access to all the facilities within the estate, including an on-site restaurant/bar, a spa (free of charge) with swimming pools, gym, sauna, steam room and spa treatments (extra charge). There are also tennis courts, football nets, children’s play areas, a 5km jogging trail, cycle tracks and a number of lakes where canoeing and paddle boarding can be enjoyed during the summer season. Fishing is permitted on-site (licence required).

It is a short walk from the estate to the local village pub serving real ale and good food. The estates ’Activity Hub’ provides equipment hire (water pursuits, cycling and tennis) and a source of knowledge on how best to enjoy the estate and local area. Outside the estate the wider area of the Cotswolds Water Park offers further opportunities to observe wildlife and to participate in activities including wakeboarding, water-skiing, windsurfing, canoeing, kayaking, paintballing, cycling, horse riding and rally driving. The wonderful countryside of the Cotswolds surrounds the water park, and Bath, Oxford, Cirencester and Cheltenham are all within easy reach. Chestnut Lodge is a mid-terrace property over three floors. It has the space and facilities for up to 8 adults and a baby. A lovely feature of the property is the uninterrupted view of the adjacent lake and the setting sun from the lounge and patio areas. You are also free to enjoy the nature trails and cycle tracks on the Estate, as well as boating and fishing. Walks around the largest lake, Somerford Lagoon, are restricted during winter months when migrant birds over-winter, but there is good bird-watching from hides dotted around the Estate.
Venturing out into the surrounding area you will find Cirencester, the old capital of the Cotswolds, just 6 miles away, and other delightful villages to visit include Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water and Burford. Shop, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

Lower Ledge Farm consists of four lovingly furnished barn conversions (two of which are holiday homes), nestled in the lovely rural village of Doynton, just on the outskirts of Bath and on the doorstep to the Cotswolds.

These two semi-detached cottages have been renovated to a high standard, and designed with guest’s comfort in mind. Tull is conveniently all on the ground floor, with accommodation set over four bedrooms, all of which have their own en-suite, making this an ideal choice for the less mobile and those who prefer a little more privacy. Budding also has three bedrooms downstairs, two with their own en-suite, and a bedroom and en-suite upstairs.

These properties are a perfect base for families or groups wanting to discover Bath, Somerset, and the Cotswolds, conveniently situated just 5 minutes from the M4. The World Heritage city of Bath is only 8 miles away, a city with a story to tell. Enveloped in the hills of south west England, it has its own unmistakable identity, grounded in the roots from centuries past and carved out since by passionate locals and spirited fans.

Tetbury and Castle Combe are around 25 minutes away, where you can enjoy a spot of lunch in some of their wonderful traditional English pubs, followed by a walk around the beautiful Cotswold villages dotted around the area. Stone Henge, Amesbury and Avebury can all be reached within an hour’s drive, and are sure to make for fun filled days out. Pack a picnic and head to Glastonbury, Wells or Cheddar, all within a 40-minute drive and offering wonderful places to explore and discover. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

Beyond your trendy retreat and within easy reach you will find many famous Cotswold villages and towns such as Cirencester, Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water, Broadway and Cheltenham and Bath. The Cotswold Water Park just along the lane also offers a host of activities including water skiing, cable skiing, archery, shooting, paintballing, golf, aerial adventure, angling, horse riding, sailing, canoeing and rally driving. Claysun House has an abundance of space inside and out, perfect for all the family, young and old. This stunning four bedroom, four bathroom detached home is nestled within the Forest of Dean. In addition, a conservatory that looks onto the garden terrace and forest views beyond, floods the room with light during the day and makes for a lovely spot to read the paper or escape in a good book. On those long balmy summer evenings, fire up the BBQ and take dinner al fresco on the terrace, that overlooks the River Lyd.
If you decide to venture beyond, your local village of Whitecroft offers two traditional country inns offering food and beverages, plus a local shop great for stocking up on some essentials. If country pursuits and adventure is on the agenda, then you won’t be disappointed, there are scenic rambling routes in abundance. Less than 10 miles from Claysun House, you have a plethora of activities. From kayaking and river boat cruises at Symonds Yat, rock climbing, treetop adventures at GoApe, to underworld caving at Clearwell.
After a day of rambling and forest pursuits, there is also a fully equipped utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer for your muddy boots and Barbours to be laundered for your next day of adventures.
