Blaenau Ffestiniog is a historic mining town, best known for being the slate capital of the world, having recently been awarded the acclaimed UNESCO World Heritage Site. The area is a mecca for any outdoor enthusiasts, with bike trails, climbing, kayaking and walking routes in abundance. Only a few minutes away is Llechwedd Slate Caverns/Zip World; a great day out for the kids and adults alike.
You’re only a short drive from Betws-y-Coed, known as the gateway to the Snowdonia National Park. Also within easy reach is Porthmadog, home to the Welsh Highland Railway and the famous Black Rock Sands, and Harlech is also only a short drive away, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its imposing castle and simply stunning beaches, it is well worth a visit. A spacious static caravan situated on a bustling, popular park with many eateries to choose from, so you’ll be spoilt for choice on where to eat each day. There’s plenty of on-site entertainment to enjoy, and various activities such as segways, bikes and pedalos hire. An indoor pool with lazy river and slides, this site is a wonderful place to make memories for all ages. There’s three bedrooms and two bathrooms with open plan lounge kitchen and breakfast area, and an area with outdoor seating perfect to catch a bit sunshine. You’ll be in an ideal location to explore the Llyn Peninsula and the nearby Snowdonia National Park. Nearby Pwllheli has plenty to offer with harbour, and golf course, along with plenty of shops to peruse, supermarkets and eateries and a large beach with miles of sweeping sands.
A short drive is Porthdinllaen beach home to a popular beach side inn, once voted in the top ten best beach bars in the world! You are also within easy reach of Porthmadog home to the Welsh Highland Railway, and Italianate village of Portmeirion, fashionable Abersoch is also nearby. Criccieth and Harlech, a short drive away where you’ll find the historic castles of the area. This area has miles of unspoilt coastal paths to explore, look out for the grey seal colonies that are established around the coastline, alongside a wealth of sea birds. No matter your interests from golfing, fishing and adventure sports to nature and history, the diverse Llyn Peninsula has everything to offer. Apartment 1 is a ground floor apartment located right in the heart of Aberdovey, opposite the Yacht Club and the beach, and close to local amenities. There isn’t a better location to be for those looking for a seaside escape. Set within the southern reaches of the Snowdonia National Park, excellent for those walkers visiting the area. Aberdovey is a thriving seaside fishing village with brightly painted houses which seem to cling to the shoreline and has a history dating back hundreds of years. It offers miles of beautiful golden sandy beaches with a fantastic selection of water based activities including sailing, fishing and windsurfing. Golfers are also well catered for with an 18-hole championship golf course located at the western end of the village, which welcomes visiting players. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy the wonderful opportunities for walking and bird watching in the surrounding area. A collection of three cottages set peacefully up a private road, yet only a short walk to amenities. Primrose is a one bedroom, one bathroom cottage with open plan living space. The village of Penrhyndeudraeth is on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park; within the village there are all the amenities you’ll need, from places to eat, friendly pubs, takeaways, and a small grocery store. You’re within walking distance to the famous Italianate village of Portmeirion, a must visit whilst in the area. A short drive away is Porthmadog a busy harbour town, home to the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Steam Railway, perfect for families and rail enthusiasts alike; here you will also find larger grocery stores.
You are within easy reach of Black Rock Sands where you’ll find miles of sweeping sands and dunes, unusually. You can drive onto the beach here, so it’s a popular spot for picnickers and a great spot to spend a full day, as you can load the car up park up and relax without having to worry about carrying everything with you. A short drive inland is Blaenau Ffestiniog, an adrenaline junkie’s delight with Zip World, the largest zip wire zone in the world, with various activities such as Bounce Below, where you can bounce on trampoline nets deep underground in an old slate cavern, and the Stiniog downhill mountain bike trails are also here. The Llŷn Peninsula is an unspoilt, designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with miles of coastal and mountain walks to explore. There is wildlife in abundance, pods of dolphins, seals, and birdlife to spot.

Rockcliffe is in the village of Aberdovey and from the balcony you can see the championship links golf course opposite, which is a must play if you’re a golfer. Aberdovey is full of things to explore on foot. There are plenty of independent shops, cafés, bars and lovely restaurants to enjoy. The beach is very popular with many water sports on offer. You can book a paddle board lesson, go surfing, sailing or even kite surfing. If the tides permit, you can even stroll along the sand all the way to Tywyn. In Tywyn visit Talyllyn Railway where you can experience a traditional journey through the Welsh countryside or venture further afield to Dolgoch Waterfall. Other attractions include Corris Mine Explorers where you can partake in excursions into an underground mine, Fairbourne Railway or how about the challenging hike up Cader Idris if you’re feeling active? Sea fishing is also available nearby.

You can stroll along the sandy beach or wander along to one of the many cafés and pubs in town. Take a walk or a bike over the famous Barmouth Bridge and explore the Mawddach Trail, a level route which follows the trackbed of the old railway line to Dolgellau. From Barmouth, you can also hop on board a train on the Cambrian Coast line between Machynlleth and Pwllheli for one of the most spectacular coastal railway journeys in the UK, or catch a ferry over the mouth of the river and take a trip on a little steam train on the Fairbourne Railway.

To the north, the sandy beaches stretch for miles, and at Harlech you will find the mighty castle built by Edward I (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) brooding over the little town. A little further on at Blaenau Ffestiniog, you can experience Europe’s largest zip wire zone as you fly over an old slate quarry at Zip World Titan, or try a spot of underground trampolining in a slate cavern at Bounce Below – great fun! The mountains of the Snowdonia National Park are just waiting to be explored, and you can be in the hills within a few minutes. Take time out to visit some of the local towns and villages too. Dolgellau with its range of individual shops, Penmaenpool and its delightful toll bridge, Llwyngwril with an annual yarnbombing festival, and Tywyn, home to the famous Talyllyn Railway. Being a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), Morfa Harlech is now a National Nation Reserve, one of only 70 in the UK. It boasts numerous important sanctuaries for wildlife. In spring and summer keep an eye out for the three-coloured dune pansy, the pyramidal orchid or even the scarce bee orchid. When in ?ower, the dry dune grasslands are home to a number of butter?ies and moths, such as the six-spot burnet moth and the common blue and small copper butter?ies.
Other insects such as some of our rarest mining bees who depend on bare sand and you may spot a sand lizard, too. Ringed plover nest on the beach in spring and other birds such as the skylark and stonechat breed in the dunes, with redshank and lapwing using the saltmarsh. In winter wading birds such as oystercatcher, dunlin and sanderling feed along the shoreline, and wildfowl make use of the estuaries and saltmarsh.

For those with a head for heights fast jets can be seen training and photographed as part of the Mach Loop and flights can be arranged from the nearby Snowdonia Flight School to take you over the summit of Snowdon.
