Bod Eithin is spacious and furnished to a high standard. It is ideally located for families, as it is a short walk from the award winning 4 mile long, sandy Harlech beach. It is regularly awarded as one of the finest beaches in Wales and is backed by protected sand dunes. Being a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), Morfa Harlech is now a National Nation Reserve, one of only 70 in the UK. It boasts numerous important sanctuaries for wildlife. In spring and summer keep an eye out for the three-coloured dune pansy, the pyramidal orchid or even the scarce bee orchid. When in ?ower, the dry dune grasslands are home to a number of butter?ies and moths, such as the six-spot burnet moth and the common blue and small copper butter?ies.
Other insects such as some of our rarest mining bees who depend on bare sand and you may spot a sand lizard, too. Ringed plover nest on the beach in spring and other birds such as the skylark and stonechat breed in the dunes, with redshank and lapwing using the saltmarsh. In winter wading birds such as oystercatcher, dunlin and sanderling feed along the shoreline, and wildfowl make use of the estuaries and saltmarsh.

Walkers, mountain bikers, climbers, bird watchers and fishermen will find plenty to test their skills in the area, and for those wanting to travel slightly further, Snowdon, the Lleyn Peninsula and Betws-y-Coed are all an easy scenic drive away. For those with a head for heights fast jets can be seen training and photographed as part of the Mach Loop and flights can be arranged from the nearby Snowdonia Flight School to take you over the summit of Snowdon. The town has a swimming pool and climbing wall with instructors available for helping young and old alike. There are excellent boutique restaurants and cafes in the town, (booking is essential in high season).

Situated between Harlech Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the world class Royal St Davids links golf course, Noddfa has beautiful views of both and the sea beyond. The current detached mansion has a history dating back 250 years, and was protected by the castle garrison. However the distinctive frontage of the house was added in 1850 by Samuel Holland MP and retains much of the Victorian character and splendour, with high ornate ceilings and a bell tower. From underground trampolining in an old slate cavern at Bounce Below, to flying over the old slate quarries at the world’s largest zip wire zone at Zip World, it’s all here! Blaenau Ffestiniog is also the starting point for the little steam trains of the famous Ffestiniog Railway, they twist and turn through the hills on a spectacular journey down to the coast at Porthmadog.
South of Trawsfynydd, there is more of the Snowdonia National Park to explore, including the outdoor centre at Coed Y Brenin Forest Park which is only a 10-minute drive from the cabin and offers you cycle hire and a huge range of forest walks. There is also the pretty market town of Dolgellau which has a wide range of individual shops. There’s a vast array of historic sites within easy reach. A short drive is the imposing world heritage site of Harlech Castle and the popular seaside town of Barmouth. There really is something for all ages and interests in this region. Beach 17 miles.

Nantcol waterfalls are just 5 miles away and offer a great day out, a perfect place for a family picnic whilst playing in the stream.
