    Porthmadog is a busy harbour town, home to the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Steam Railway, a must visit for families and rail enthusiasts alike. You are within easy reach of Black Rock Sands where you’ll find miles of sweeping sands and dunes, and Portmeirion, an enchanting Italian-style village. A short drive down the coast is Harlech with its imposing UNESCO World Heritage castle and extensive beach. A short drive inland is Blaenau Ffestiniog, an adrenaline junkie’s delight with Zip World, the largest zip wire zone in the world, Bounce Below, where you can bounce on trampoline nets deep underground in an old slate cavern, and the Stiniog downhill mountain bike trails. The area has something for everyone of all ages, from scenic walking routes, bike trails, to a whole host of water sports on offer. It really is a diverse area to explore.

    Porthmadog is a diverse coastal town, home to the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Steam Railway. The original Welsh Highland Railway was made in 1922 from the merger of two companies – the North Wales Narrow Gauge Railways and the Portmadoc, Beddgelert and South Snowdon Railway, successor to the Portmadoc, Croesor and Beddgelert Tram Railway and is now 25 miles long. A must visit for families and individuals that love steam trains!
    You are within easy reach of Black Rock Sands where you’ll find miles of sweeping sands and dunes which can be accessed by car, it’s a popular spot, not just for picnickers and sandcastle builders, but also for motorboats and water bikes which, have a special zone designated for their use. A short drive down the coast is Harlech with its imposing UNESCO World Heritage castle. The castle was built by Edward I during his invasion of Wales between 1282 and 1289 at the relatively modest cost of £8,190.
    A short drive inland is Blaenau Ffestiniog with Zip World, the largest zip wire zone in the world, trampolines, where you can bounce on trampoline nets deep underground in an old slate cavern, and the Stiniog downhill mountain bike trails. The area has something for everyone of all ages, including scenic walking routes such as the Maentwrong Waterfall - a 2.6-km circular trail near Blaenau Ffestiniog, Gwynedd. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 42 minutes to complete. Close by, Portmeirion is an enchanting Italian-style village, where you can stop for lunch and soak up the vibes whilst wandering along the stunning coastal path at the edge of the village or exploring the Mediterranean fishing village.

    Bethel is just under 10 minutes from the centre of Bala, surrounded by the dramatic landscape of the Snowdonia National Park, this makes a great base from which to explore the area. The historic town of Bala has a wide range of cafés and restaurants and an award-winning butcher, people travel for miles for their pork pies! You’ll also find a leisure centre with swimming pool and sports hall. There are water sports both on the lake, Llyn Tegid and close by at the White-Water Rafting Centre, as well as a golf course.
    Take a trip along the lake on the 2ft narrow gauge steam trains, a 9-mile trip taking in some breath-taking scenery along the way. This area is surrounded by the rural region of Penllyn, with mountains, forests, waterfalls, and many lakes, perfect for avid kayakers and paddle boarders. Penllyn’s main mountain ranges - Aran, Arenig and Berwyn – rival those of other parts of Snowdonia but are not as crowded. Hundreds of miles of footpaths and bridleways give access to spectacular places no matter what time of year you visit. Further afield is Llangollen well worth a trip in the car, here you’ll find the Horseshoe Falls and Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, which offers beautiful walks, barge trips and views.
