Downlands Farm is nestled in the heart of the beautiful Hampshire countryside with wonderful views across the peaceful valley. This rural haven is only 10 minutes from Petersfield, with fantastic road and rail connections for London and Portsmouth. These two holiday cottages Edward’s Cottage (ref UKC1818) and Louisa’s Cottage (ref UK11596) are set on a small working farm and just off a green-lane leading to miles of footpaths, bridleways and on and off-road cycling within the South Downs National Park. The cottages offer light and airy open plan living accommodation, and have ground floor bedrooms and a special ‘hideaway’ bedroom/playroom to accommodate children.
The barns have been converted from original agricultural buildings and have been sympathetically designed to blend with the surrounding countryside, while offering comfortable accommodation. For biking enthusiast there is a shared bike shed for bike storage and by arrangement, guests are welcome to bring their horses and make use of the Loddon stables. There are three local pubs within the vicinity, all within a half hour stroll or a 3-minute car journey away. The bustling market town of Petersfield is a 10-minute drive, and has a range of shops and restaurants, and along with the two local village shops; these provide all you need for stocking up on essential items. The cathedral cities of Chichester, Guildford, Portsmouth and Winchester are all 45 minutes away, and offer a range of shops and entertainment. The beautiful beach at West Wittering is an hour’s drive away, and this lovely location is ideal to visit, whatever the time of year, and is perfect for all ages. During low season (October to April), you can ride your horse at any time on the beach at West Wittering, and during the summer months you can ride before 9am and after 6pm.
Hayling Island has a children’s fun fair and a shingle beach, and is within half an hour from Downlands Farm. The cottages enjoy direct access to miles of scenic walking and cycling routes through the beautiful countryside and pretty villages such West Meon, where you can enjoy lunch at one of the pubs serving food, and where Thomas Lord rests, founder of Lords cricket. The market town of Petersfield has a range of restaurants and shops, and if you fancy a day trip to London, the local train service takes approximately one hour. There are several attractions in the area that are worth a visit, including Portsmouth with the Spinnaker Tower, HMS Warrior and Nelson’s HMS Victory, along with the historic Winchester Cathedral, King Arthurs Round Table, and Southampton with its extensive maritime history. For walking and riding the vast heathland of The New Forest National Park is ideal. For a cultural day out, try historic Chichester with its cathedral and festival theatre, and not forgetting the Watercress Steam Train, Jane Austen’s house, Gilbert White’s house, Marwell Zoo, Birdworld and the Queen Elizabeth Country Park which is the other side of the valley. Garden Cottage 1 is one of two self-catering properties situated within the owners’ beautiful gardens. Garden Cottage 1 is a cosy ground floor holiday home surrounded by rolling countryside situated in between the town of Haslemere and the village of Liphook. Sleeping two, it has a bedroom with kingsize bed, and a lovely bathroom with bath and shower over. Looking out to the garden is a light and airy open plan kitchen/diner and living room/conservatory with everything you could need for a very comfortable break away including full kitchen and Smart TV.
The cottage is located on the edge of the much prized village of Bramshott just 2 miles from Liphook village offering a range of local shopping, including a supermarket and mainline station. The larger village of Grayshott is 3 miles away offering an extensive collection of day to day shopping needs including a popular butcher and independent vintner, doctor’s surgery, two mini supermarkets and a collection of restaurants and a public house. Haslemere also 5 miles away with a variety of shops, restaurants and pubs.
There is so much on offer in this beautiful part of the south of England with the Goodwood Estate world known for its racing, golfing and horse racing and home to the famous Festival of Speed and Revival, Cowdray Estate for polo, golf at Liphook and sailing off the south coast at Chichester and Emsworth Harbour. Bramshott borders Surrey and Hampshire with excellent walking, cycling and riding opportunities across Frensham Great and Little Pond and also across nearby countryside including Waggoners Wells, Bramshott Common, Ludshott Common, Passfield Common and The Devil’s Punchbowl. The South Downs are also nearby.
Within easy reach are beaches at Hayling Island, West Wittering and Bognor Regis, the picturesque sailing village of Bosham, Arundel with its historic castle and antique shops and the historic cathedral city of Chichester with its festival theatre and array of shops. The nautical city of Portsmouth with Spinnaker Tower, Gunwharf Quays designer outlets and waterside dining are also within easy reach.

Lilypad is a newly built home in a peaceful residential area within walking distance to the high street of Ringwood. Downstairs there is an open plan kitchen, living and dining room with a 43-inch smart tv. In the kitchen there is a fridge freezer, dishwasher, gas hob and electric oven with all the equipment you need to cook a meal to enjoy together. There is a convenient downstairs toilet and there is underfloor heating on the ground floor of this property. Upstairs is a king bedroom and a double bedroom both with 32-inch smart TVs. The family bathroom has a shower over the bath and there is a washer dryer in the cupboard. At the front of the property there is a small patio area with a small outdoor seating area and there is parking available for 1 car and a locked bike store.
Ringwood high street is within walking distance, this historic town comprises of a rich mixture of architecture including buildings which are thatched, Georgian, modern, and historic buildings lining the streets. A stroll along west street will take you to the Jubilee Gardens with a millstream running through which once powered the corn mill. There is a variety of independent shops in Ringwood along with cafes and eateries. Ringwood Brewery is well worth a visit during your time here, and you can even book a tour to sample the local beers. Ringwood has a weekly market as well as several farm shops within driving distance for local produce. For walkers and cyclists, the Castleman trail is easily accessible from Bickerley Road, this follows the old train route between Dorchester and Southampton.
For days out you must visit the New Forest with its free roaming horses, cattle and donkeys and an abundance of unique villages and pubs throughout. Moors Valley is fantastic for walking and cycling within the forest and you can even book an experience at Go Ape to climb among the treetops. There is the New Forest Water Park with a variety of water sports and a giant inflatable obstacle course on the water which is a fantastic day out. For fishing a day license can be purchased at the tackle shop for fishing on the River Avon with the chance to catch a variety of fish including Pike, Chub and Carp. The beaches of Southbourne and Avon Beach are within a half hour drive, with a mixture of sandy areas and pebbled area. Other nearby days out include Beaulieu Motor Museum, Liberty’s Owl and Reptile Centre, Dorset Heavy Horse Farm, Bolderwood Deer Sanctuary, and you can get a ferry to the Isle of Wight for a day trip!
